FIRESAFE INSULATION SYSTEM TECHNICAL DATASHEET

PYROROCK EI 30, EI 45 and EI 60 AIR DUCT FIRE-PROOF INSULATION SYSTEM DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM The fire-proof insulation system with 30, 45 and 60 minutes fire resistance consists of one layer of ROCKWOOL Techrock 80 ALS insulating boards fixed to the air conditioning duct by insulated welded pins. The system can be installed only by the personnel trained by ROCKWOOL specialist under special approval. AIR CONDITIONING DUCT The air conditioning piping for fire-proof insulation system with 30, 45 and 60 minutes fire resistance requires maximum air tightness. Sealing polyethylene foam bands must be inserted between the duct flanges and closely compressed with a help of screw clamps (e.g. punctually by fixing clamps with screws M8) in minimum amount of 8 pcs per running meter of flange length at every joint. For required fire resistance of EI 60 minutes it is necessary to use the perimeter C-stripes instead of screw clamps.

INSULATION SYSTEM The duct is insulated by 40 mm (60 mm respectively) thick ROCKWOOL Techrock 80 ALS insulating boards for fire-proof insulation system for fire resistance of 30 and 45 minutes (60 minutes respectively). The boards must not have any longitudinal joints with the exception at the duct edges. In applying the insulation care must be taken in order to thoroughly join and push the boards against each other leaving no gaps in between. Joints of insulation slabs and their free edges is necessary to cover by one-side selfgluing aluminium or aluminium reinforced tape (Tape ALS). The flanges are covered by the insulation of the same thickness as the duct and there is cut out groove with depth of 15 – 20 mm (resp. 30 mm) for better tightness and cohesion and the greatest insulation continuity. The gaps between the horizontal and vertical insulation of the flanges must be carefully eliminated. In the neighbourhood of flanges it is necessary not to leave any gap between horizontal and vertical insulation. FIXING ANCHORS The insulation is fixed to the air conditioning duct by welded pins with in amount of about 44 pcs/m for vertical duct (e.g. 11 pins on every side). The duct bottom insulation is fixed using 11 pins per m and for the duct top insulation 4 pins per m are used. For horizontal duct there is 31 pins per m divided as follows: duct top 4 pins, sides per 8 pins, bottom 11 pins per meter. Stated amount is valid for duct dimension 1,000 x 500 mm. Closer data and conditions – see table Binding Technical Conditions of the System. Under any circumstances there is necessary to hold following principles: maximum distance between pins and duct edge can be maximum 100 mm and pin spacing maximum 250 mm. DUCT EDGE PROTECTION The duct edges can be protected along by L shaped angles of galvanized steel plate of at least 0.5 mm thickness and upto 60 x 60 mm dimensions (80 x 80 mm dimensions respectively). These metal profiles are not necessary from the reason of fire protection. FIRE CLASSIFICATION PYROROCK EI 30, 45 (for horizontal and vertical air ducts), EI 60 (only for vertical air ducts) systems have been tested and certified by FIRES, s. r. o., Batizovce, Slovak Republic, Authorized Body under registration No. CIS 01/1998, report No. FIRES FR 108/01 CP. PYROROCK EI 60 systems (for horizontal air ducts) have been tested by PAVUS, a.s., Veselí nad Lužnicí, Czech Republic, Authorized Body under registration No. AO 216, report No. Pr-02-02.99. On demand we can propose Fire Classification Certificate of Fire Resistance No. PKO-04-088/AO204 from April 15th, 2004.
