The 2015 Emmanuel Lutheran Church Organiza onal Chart and Contact List
It certainly takes a lot of willing and dedicated members to run such an exci ng, forward‐moving, church such as ours! Just se ng up and orchestra ng worship service on Sunday morning takes a schedule of over 30 church family members! With all the other important missions and ministries Emmanuel is involved in, the number of volunteers needed to successfully make a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ can be overwhelming.
Your help is ALWAYS needed! Welcome to Emmanuel’s 2015 Organiza onal Chart and Contact List!
This pamphlet can be found in the pew racks, the Narthex, the Church Office, and on the bulle n board as you enter the Fellowship Hall. In it you will find a contact person, their email, and phone number, for all the ministries Emmanuel is currently involved in, to the best of our knowledge. Please take one home, look it over, then call the contact person listed for the ministries you would like to be involved with!
If you have ques ons or concerns about what informa on is listed in this handy‐dandy publica on, please speak with CindyMarie
in the Church Office. 208‐882‐3915. [email protected].
Need to get a hold of Pastor Daugs? Here is his Magic Number!

Sunday’s Scripture Segments
Scripture readings for Sunday, September 6, 2015
The Fi eenth Sunday a er Pentecost:
Isaiah 35:4‐7a These verses are a word of
hope to the exiles in Babylon. Chapter 34
portrays God’s vengeance on Edom, Israel’s age‐old enemy, which makes the
path from Babylon to Zion safe for the exiles’ return. The desert itself will flow
with water to give drink to the returning exiles.
James 2:11‐17
Faithful Chris ans do not show par ality to the rich and powerful of the world, especially at the expense of
the poor and weak. Likewise, faith does not pay
mere lip‐service to God’s will. Instead, a living
Chris an faith expresses itself in acts of compassion
and mercy for those in need.
Mark 7:24‐37 In Mark’s gospel,
encounters with women usually signify turning points
in Jesus’ ministry. Here, a conversa on with a
Syrophoenician woman marks the beginning of his
mission to the Gen les.
The Drama c Challenge of Mark’s Gospel.
Mark’s is the shortest of the gospels and probably the first to have been wri en down. Recent evidence suggests that it was originally intended as a script for drama c, oral, live
performance. We now have a wonderful one‐man drama c presenta on of this whole gospel by award‐winning actor Max McLean, who brings Mark to life with electrifying
energy, giving us a sense of what its first hearers might have experienced.
(Anyone interested in having a quick look can simply search his name on YouTube.)
In this series, led by Dr. Kurt Queller, we’ll use McLean’s performance as a springboard for inves ga ng this amazing text as a single, self‐contained, coherent narra ve.
Our focus will be on the many fascina ng ways in which Mark’s drama c storytelling teases us and challenges us.
Join us! 8:30 AM, in the Fellowship Hall.
Sermon Title:
“Detours on the way to our geography.”
Pastor Dave Daugs

Water Water flows through the Scriptures:
the flood, the Red Sea crossing, water springing from a rock to nourish
Israelites in the wilderness, the healing of Naaman's leprosy when he washed in the Jordan River, John's bap sm of Jesus and, chiefly, our bap sm into
Christ. The water of bap sm symbolizes cleansing from sin, the
quenching of our spiritual thirst and God raising us from death (drowning in sin) to life everlas ng. Just as we can't live without physical water,
neither can we truly live without the living water that Jesus gives
(see John 4:13‐14).
