PreceptorTraining/Orientation(StandardIIIB1.a.6))Thetrainingmediamaytakemanyforms:writtendocuments,formalcourse,powerpointpresentation,video,on-line,ortherecouldbedesignatedtrainerson-sitethattheprogramrelieson.Theprogramshouldtailorthemethodofdeliverytothetypeofrotation
Theprogrammustidentifyakeypersoninhospitals(departments),inotherclinicalexperiencesettings,andforfieldexperience.Theprogrammustdemonstratethateverykeypersonhascompletedtheorientation.Theprogramcanthenarrangetohavethosekeypersonnelprovideguidancetoanyotherpreceptorsinthosesettings.
Theprogrammustdemonstratethateachcapstonefieldinternshippreceptorhascompletedthetraining.Forexample,theremaybeanon-linesessiondocumentingcompletionbythepreceptor,ortheremaybeawrittenpacketprovidedbytheprogram,whichisreadandsignedbythepreceptoratthestartoftherotation,orarepresentativeoftheprogrammaymeetbrieflywiththepotentialpreceptorsatthatlocation

Forcapstonefieldinternshipexperiences,theprogramshouldfocusontheevaluationoftheexperience,butthatevaluationmustincludeanevaluationofeachactivecapstonefieldinternshippreceptor.
Theprogrammustprovideevidenceofthecompletionofthetrainingofcapstonefieldinternshippreceptorsbydatedrostersofparticipants,on-linelogs,signedacknowledgementbythecapstonefieldinternshippreceptor.

StandardIIIC3Curriculum(TeamLeads)EachprogramisrequiredtodefineTeamLeadanddocumentitinprogrammaterials.
Minimumteamleadsmustbeestablishedbytheprogramandaccomplishedbyeachstudent.Thenumberofteamleadsisestablishedandanalyzedbytheprogramthroughtheprogramevaluationsystemandmustreflectthedepthandbreadthoftheparamedicprofession.
TobecountedasaTeamLeadtheParamedicstudentmustconductacomprehensiveassessment,establishafieldimpression,determinepatientacuity,formulateatreatmentplan,directthetreatment,anddirectandparticipateinthetransportofthepatienttoamedicalfacility,transferofcaretoahigherlevelofmedicalauthority,orterminationofcareinthefield

PreceptorEvaluationStandardIIIB1a- theprogramshouldfocusontheevaluationoftheexperience,butthatevaluationmustincludeanevaluationofeachactivecapstonefieldinternshippreceptor.
Programsshouldcheckinwiththepreceptorsonaregularbasis.Apreceptorprogramisonlysuccessfulifthestudentfeltthattheyweretrainedwell.Programsmustobtainfeedbackfromstudentstoevaluatethepreceptor,andcoachthepreceptorasneeded.
Afterthetrainingprogramandoncethepreceptorhaspreceptedseveralstudents,theyshouldbesurveyedontheeffectivenessofthetraining/orientationprogram.Thepreceptorwillbeabletoevaluatetheprogramconcerninghowwellitpreparedthemtopreceptstudents.
