Precision Engineered Productsglobal transportation technology
Transportation Stampings and Electrical ContactsFor years, Precision Engineered Products has supplied the transportation industry’s need for critical engineered components. Through continuous improvement, we have demonstrated our commitment to customer satisfaction — on-time deliveries, excellent quality, competitive pricing and prompt customer service.
Modern facilities around the globe provide the right setting for our team to develop advanced technology and quality production operations.
Surface Finishing
Precious and non-precious metal finishes are applied to customer- or Mil Standard using rack, barrel and vibratory plating techniques. Stainless steel electropolishing to ASTM A967 is also available. Our facility is ISO 9001:2008 registered and Nadcap accredited, enabling us to deliver the quality, consistency and service excellence expected in a demanding field.
Transportation Stampings and Electrical Contacts• Loose parts, reel-to-reel, specified strip lengths, special packaging
• Micro-sized stampings
• Fast prototypes, often 2 days to 2 weeks
• Design FMEA and engineering support
• Specification plating and surface finishing
• Precision electropolishing
PEP is the leader in hybrid
airbag burst disks and auxiliary
components for airbag inflators
and modules. These critical
components of pressurized
vessels provide a high level
of safety for people and equip-
ment. Tight controls produce
burst disks that are performance
centered to improve reliability
and conformance.
Automotive stampings for
seat hinge assemblies, seat
belt brackets, suspension
components and other
automotive stampings for
functional components.
Process innovations that
produce heavy-duty precision
stampings for sound compo-
nents, speaker frames, terminals
and other critical applications.
Electrical contact assemblies
that stake or weld contacts
directly to base metal strip
that is then stamped to form
a finished contact assembly
in one operation. Full auto-
mation permits tight process
control for high volume
production.

Transportation AssembliesPrecision Engineered Products’ worldwide facilities supply highly engineered, custom assemblies for critical transportation applications. Assemblies can be metal-to-metal brazed, welded and staked construction or complex metal-to-plastic assemblies.
Parts may be built using full-automation or, depending on volume requirements, semi-automation. Finished assemblies can be packaged and labeled to your specifications and made ready for shipment to your customer.
Assembly Automation
Complex assemblies to meet your demanding requirements. Depending on the finished part and volume requirements, equipment can range from full automation to highly adaptable semi-automation to optimize fit-up costs and automation efficiency.
Transportation Assemblies• Custom and standard terminals and applicators for wire attachment
• Close tolerance molded assemblies ± 4µm on hole diameters and ±1µm on centerline distances
• APQP procedures, design FMEA and engineering support
• Prodigy modeling system for fast 3D full-scale models
• Fast prototypes, often 2 days to 2 weeks
Staked, welded, brazed and
molded assemblies are manu-
factured in our facilities offering
cost-effective solutions to our
customers worldwide. Our en-
gineering staff will develop an
assembly process specifically
for your components
and applications.
PEP is a one-stop source for
small-to-micro component
and assembly design and
manufacturing. We also offer
an array of micro-related
services: cleanroom micro-
molding of micro metal
stampings, and specialty
micro-plating. We are
dedicated to meeting our
clients’ requirements for
challenging geometries and
micro components.
Reel-to-reel terminals
designed for high-speed
automated assembly. Custom
and standard spade, ring and
disconnect terminals. Electric
drive stand-alone bench-top
crimping presses and integrated
applicators to fit most wire
crimping machines. Terminal
insertion automation to insert
PEP terminals into plastic or
PC boards.

Transportation MoldingsHigh-volume, under-the-hood components, sensors, connectors, stators and related applications. We work with customers to develop automated systems with robotics including cameras and test-ing features to ensure 100% conformance to our customer’s specifications.
Our facilities also feature complete machine shop capabilities to accommodate tool builds and rapid tool modifications in response to product design changes and new product development.
Design
Our team of experienced engineers and technicians will work with you on Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses to insure that potential failure modes have been considered. This rigorous evaluation process increases the probability that potential design pitfalls are avoided.
Transportation Moldings• Micron tolerance moldings
• Features as low as 2 microns
• Part weights as low as 0.0001 gram
• Single-point diamond turning (thermoplastics and non-ferrous metals)
• Materials — PEEK, LCP, TPE, PC, Ultem® Pebax®, olefins and more
• Fused Deposition Modeling, FEA, Moldflow® and other software
Precision Engineered Products
specializes in the automated
molding of high volume ap-
plications of all types of small,
functional automotive parts for
applications such as connec-
tors, bearing retainer cages
and seals, stators and stator
bobbins, and encapsulated
sensor components.
In aggregate, PEP has over
70,000 sq. ft. of molding
manufacturing space and
currently operates 80 ther-
moplastic injection molding
presses ranging in capacity
from 7 tons to 400 tons and
robotics for loading inserts,
sprue removal, part separa-
tion, untrasonic welding and
device assembly.
Automated molding of large
quantities of automotive bear-
ing components, retainer cages
and seals in Amodel®, acetal,
Zytel® and others; phenolic pre-
preg compositions bonded to
aluminum substrates.
