Functional description, cross-section
the seat. As main poppet (3) opens, flow from port “B” to “A” ispossible.
Model with decompression
Functionally similar to that of the model without decompression, exceptthat, as pilot spool (2) moves downward, pilot poppet (4) opens firstbefore engaging main poppet (3). This option permits smooth decom-pression of trapped volumes of fluid.
Model ZSFW…, with directional unloading
Functionally similar to the previous descriptions, except that, pilot spool(2) opening and closing is determined by the optional directional valve(7). Orifice (8) throttles the opening speed of pilot spool (2) to reduceshock.
Model ZSF is a pilot-operated prefill valve of sandwich design, used toisolate, or rapidly fill pressurized circuits (for example, press cylinders).The low opening force of spring (5), and high flow capacity of mainhousing (1) permit application as an anti-cavitation check valve. Cast,not drilled, main passages provide non-turbulent flow paths to enableprefilling large volume actuators such as press cylinders. The sandwichdesign lends to non-complicated installations. Drilling “P” permitsattachment of pump-flow and pressure to the sandwich prefill ratherthan requiring an additional high pressure cylinder port.
The valve consists of main housing (1), pilot spool (2), main poppet (3),pilot poppet (4) (decompression version) and return springs (5 and 6).
Model without decompression
Free flow is permitted from port “A” to “B”, requiring approximately only1.7 PSI to open against bias spring (5). Flow from port “B” to “A” isprevented by the leakfree closure of main poppet (3) against the seat, andthe light closing force of spring (5). A pressure signal at port “X” forcespilot spool (2) to compress springs (5 and 6) and lift main poppet (3) from

ASA Flange Applications:
Product type ZSF(W) has been designed and dimensioned for use with DIN 2559 flanges; however, we will permit the use of ASA flanges tothe guidelines below.1 ASA flanges specified must meet or exceed DIN flange thickness, (dimensions [b - f]), see page 10.2 UNC mounting bolts are permitted if they meet or exceed the corresponding metric bolt minor diameter and DIN 912-10.93 ASA flanges typically have mounting bolt circle diameters greater than the above referenced metric flange.4 Model ZSF with metric flanges provide approx. 0.080 in (2 mm) clearance between Ø D2 (pages 5–9) and the outside diameter of the
mounting bolt. ASA flanges may permit ≈ 1/2" (13 mm)5 The application engineer may consider to recess Ø D2 (pages 5–9) into the actuator by 0.040 in (1 mm) to provide centering of
ZSF(W)... within bolt circle (illustration below).6 Ød2 can be found on pages 5–9.
