180 degree rule

What is this?

MARIA

• The 180 degree rule is the basic guideline that shows that two characters should always have the same left/right relationship throughout the whole scene.

For example: when we are filming Maria and Milka, we are going to keep the camera on the left side of them so we can keep the left relationship between them. Other wise if we film on the right hand side they would appear opposite to how we saw them before and therefore would confuse the audience.

In our preliminary task we are going to use a range of different shots just to show one of the characters going inside a room and sitting down.

The established shot is a shot to explain there the scene is shot

A close up is used to make use only concentrate only on a thing, it display most detail

An extreme close up is used to make use only focus on a body part. normally need a specific reason to get this close.

A 2shot is the basic idea is to have a comfortable shot of two people. Eg. When two presenters are hosting a show.

This shot is framed from behind a person who is looking at the subject. This shot helps to establish the place of each person, and get the feel of looking at one person from the other's point of view.
