Preliminary task evaluation:

Feedback: I asked my friend who is of 16 years what he thought of my magazine, he said he would buy it for a reasonable price and that he liked the design and the font i used. He said the image was relevant and that the information on the front cover makes him interested in the magazine. He said it could be improved by adding text in different colours and in different ways of laying the text out. I also asked my other friend what they thought of the magazine and she said that she liked the fact the text was the same on both the front cover and contents which showed continuation, however she said she would only expect it to be free as it is a school magazine. She said she disliked the picture as it was too faint in the background but she understood why it was faint because she needed to be able to read the text. She said it could be improved by having a sub title.

Our preliminary task was to produce a contents and cover page about a school. To do this i made a plan on a piece of paper about how i wanted my page to look, went and took pictures around school and designed them on microsoft publisher.Similarities to other magazine covers are that mine has has a title and has a picture as the main image, it also has relevant text and exlusive information. However it is different because it doesnt have as many colours. Similarities to other magazine contents pages are that it also has pictures and information about where you can find certain articles within the magazine it also has a bit of white space which is effective. Differences are that there isnt as much information and it isnt as in as much detail as it could be.Strengths of my picture on my front cover is that it shows a boy whos hardworking and gives a representation of lordswood sixth form. It also shows the use of resources because it shows a computer. Weaknessess of this photo are that you cant see whats on the computer screen because of the glair and it would be more effective if someone was in the background working. Strengths and weaknesses of the layout are that my layout is similar to other magazine covers however I haven’t used different types of text boxes that stand out.I think the articles would appeal to the target audience ( lordswood students) as it clearly focuses on the school and has relevant text and pictures. To improve I think I could re arrange the text into different boxes on the front cover and on the contents I could include more exclusive information.
