CALL TO WORSHIP “There’s Within My Heart a Melody” No. 380 OPENING HYMN “Alleluia” No. 186
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH No. 881 I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and bur-
ied; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian
church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
HYMN OF PRAYER “The Gift of Love” No. 408
PASTORAL PRAYER...LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

CHURCH INFORMATIONCHURCH INFORMATIONCHURCH INFORMATIONCHURCH INFORMATION
Flowers on the altar today were given by Carl Granetzke in celebration of the up-coming 70th birthday of his wife, Janyce.
Mommy & Me is a small group for babies and their moms. We have fellowship time, discussions about particular needs of moms, and interaction with the babies! We meet the 2nd and 4th Tues-days of the month in Memorial Lounge. Childcare is pro-vided. Call Ann Hutler at 262-632-8381 or email
[email protected] for more information.
Winter Weather Policy! As a reminder, the following policies should provide you some guidance regarding winter weather: During the week: If Racine Unified closes, the church will be closed. Evening activities also follow the school - if Uni-fied cancels evening activities, so does EUM. On Sundays: Check the website before leaving your home. We have only canceled church one time in ten years and that was due to power failure brought on by the snow. It’s always a good idea to check the website!
EUM now offers a mobile version of our online giving page to make it easy for you to give anytime from your smart phone. Simply scan the image you see here using your phone’s Quick Response (QR) code reader! Or just visit www.eumchurch.com/#/giving!
Please remember, in order to maintain the cleanliness of the sanctuary and out of respect for the worship experience of all, refrain from bringing coffee or soda into the sanctuary. Thank you for your cooperation.
The movie “Courageous” is now on DVD! Syn-ergy is encouraging men and families to see the movie if you missed it in theaters. As seen in the
movie, THE RESOLUTION is a bold declaration of commitments that men are making to be faithful to God as the spiritual leader of their home. Watch the movie… if you are also interested in participating in the Resolution, let us know at [email protected]. We will then announce plans for our own Resolution in the near future.
Hospital Notification Requested! If you or a loved one are scheduled for a hospital stay or admitted to the hospital unexpectedly, please call the church office (632-8381). Hospital regulations (HIPAA laws) restrict access of patient information to clergy unless the patient specifically asks to be listed in the religious directory au-thorizing visits. So, if we don’t know you’re there, we can’t visit and/or pray for you! Thanks for your help.
Monthly Newsletter Deadline! As a rule, the deadline for submis-sions for the next month’s newsletter will be the 3rd Sunday of the month. The deadline for the March issue of The Bridge is next Sun-day, February 19th. Your submissions may be sent to [email protected]. We appreciate your contributions to The Bridge!
CIRCLES OF COMMITMENTCIRCLES OF COMMITMENTCIRCLES OF COMMITMENTCIRCLES OF COMMITMENT
BELIEVE BELONG BECOME
Core: Leadership and Ministry
• Makes up approximately 10/15% of the membership and is the
most committed to Christ and to the ministry of the local church. • Accept a large responsibility for the ongoing mission and ministry.
• Most faithful in vows: prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. • Desire to grow spiritually.
• They do not get offended as often and understand regular and sacri-
ficial giving habits. • This is the part of church that can be the most honest, where truth is
spoken in love and understood in that framework.
Committed: Maturing Members
• Faithful in their worship attendance, these people often show up for
church school or Bible study, and they support programs of the church.
• Church is important to these folks, but they tend to speak in terms of what they receive versus what they give to the church.
• They tend to perceive church as something they belong to rather
than something they are a part of – a club, versus a body. • They are comfortable in church; therefore, they can be resistant to
change. • They may have strong opinions about everything, but they are not
always faithful.
HOW COMMITTED ARE YOU?HOW COMMITTED ARE YOU?HOW COMMITTED ARE YOU?HOW COMMITTED ARE YOU?
• The majority of a churches programming is directed to these peo-ple.
• They want the church to succeed, to thrive, and even to grow; how-ever, they do not want growth to cause too much change, nor do they want the church’s health to cost too much.
Congregation: Members
• This group does church on Sunday – but are not involved in much else.
• They are faithful to Sunday’s for “God-fixes” but little else.
• We need and want these people in our churches and we are grateful to have them; but a church would not survive long based on the good will of this group alone.
• They view church as consumers – the Church exists to serve their needs.
• They tend to be the most offended with money talk.
• They are not always clear about the mission and ministry of the church.
• They give to causes and less to budget.
• Mixing metaphors: Core is on the field; Committed are on the side-lines; Congregation is in the stands.
Crowd: Regular Attenders • Some may call these folks the Christmas and Easter crowd.
• They often do not believe that it makes a difference to them whether they are part of a church community or not – they feel they can be spiritual on their own.
• They have a very limited understanding of what the church is and does.
• They view the pastor as the paid professional who “runs” the
church. They do not understand the concept of “equipping the saints.”
• They need to have their need for connectedness awaken, as well as
their need for interdependence.
Community
• Inactive or uninvolved in a local congregation. Resources: Vital Signs by Dan Dick The Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren
