Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as We forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into Temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the Power and the glory, forever. You gifted him with the ability to see, not as the distracted sees, but as one with holy focus. Many Voices: Grant that we, too, might see through the eyes of Christ. One: May we see, as Dr. King did, that “a negative peace which is the absence of tension” is less than “a positive peace which is the presence of justice.” Many: Let us pray that those who work for peace in our world may cry out first for justice. One: May we see that "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly." Many: Let us pray that we may see nothing in isolation, but may know ourselves bound to one another and to all people under heaven. One: May we see with Gospel vision the coming of your kingdom, and that no matter “however frustrating the hour, it will not be long, because truth crushed to earth will rise again.” Many: Let us pray that our eyes, too, will witness the glory of the coming of the Lord, that God’s truth is marching on. Amen. Rev. Michael Walrond, Jr. Senior Pastor of First Corinthian Baptist Church, Harlem, NY

Michael A. Walrond Jr. is the Senior Pastor of First Corinthian Baptist Church (FCBC) in Harlem, New York. Considered a visionary, cultural architect, and game-changer by his peers, Rev. Walrond is quickly rising as one of the most prolific and sought-after teachers and preachers in the country. Over the past thirteen years, membership at FCBC has grown from 300 to over 10,000 members. Rev. Walrond’s community and social justice initiatives include the Micah Clergy Roundtable of NYC, A.C.T. Social Justice Ministry, anti-“stop and frisk” campaign and helping to get the “New York City Living Wage” legislation passed through the City Council. He has received numerous honors, accolades, and recognitions including induction into Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers. In 2014 Pastor Mike was a recipient of The Root 100 Award, a list of the top 100 most influential African Americans under the age of 45. In July of 2015 New York City Mayor, Bill de Blasio, named Pastor Mike as the first chair of the NYC Clergy Advisory Council. In 2017 he was an honoree on Ebony Magazine’s annual Ebony Power 100 list as a “Community Crusader.” Rev. Walrond is a graduate of Morehouse College and Duke University School of Divinity. He is a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the Morehouse College Alumni Association. He is a native of Roosevelt, New York and is married to the Rev. Dr. LaKeesha N. Walrond, who serves as the Executive Pastor of FCBC. They are the proud parents of two beautiful children, Michael III and Jasmyn Dominique.
