Preliminary Task Evaluation

Ideas/ Camera shotsAs a group we all wrote scripts for a Doctor and a Patient

characters, all our scripts were different so we all choose the one that we all liked to most which was Liban’s script. Collectively as a group we came up with the narrative for our video together .

The camera shots we were to include in our video was Long, shot, wide shot and close up but we also used Establishing shot, two shot and pan shot we used these shots so that in the video you could see both characters talking in the same frame, also to show where the video is talking place.

Examples from video-Long shot:

Close Up

Two shot

ResearchWe didn’t do much research but for denotation and connotation of our

characters we thought about how our characters are usually presented in the real world and what fits with what we said in our narrative.

Using equipment

We used a Para Sonia SD 900 camcorder. We either had the camera on the tripod or use it handheld.

We also used Sennheiser headphonesWhich we used to see if we could hear sound and if what we’re hearing is acceptable.

Tripod: We used the tripod to film most of our shots. We also were able to include pan shot in our film because of the tripod. When the camera is on top of the tripod, you must make sure to remove the camera before moving it.

SoundTo get efficient sound in our video we used the boom pole which was connected to

the camera when we wanted to record sound . When using the boom pole you must make sure you keep it out of the frame.

Sound is major component of a film or TV program. One type of sound is dialogue. It’s the speech of actors, the conversational exchange between two people which is either in spoken or written form

Example of dialogue in my video.

Final Cut editingAfter filming we imported our clips onto final cut pro, they were transferred onto the browser. The browser holds all the clips that you uploaded from your camera unedited

This is the audio window where, you can change/edit the sound of clips .

The image window is where you edit the clip before you drag it to the timeline. You can edit the clip by using inputs and outputs.

The timeline is where the edited clips or unedited clips are dragged to be put in a sequence from the video.

There are two ways in which you can edit you can either use inputs and outputs or you can use the tool bar and use the razor which slices the clips. The tool bar also has a pen tool where you can put fades in and outs of sound on scenes in your video.

Toolbar: Which contains the tools for editing

Transitions

Transitions are used to connect one shot to another in the editing process. There are a number of transitions and in my video I used wipe, dissolve, cut and shot reverse shot.
