Led by 1A MVP Evaldas Aniulis and flashy guard Jarryn Skeete, the Tigers finished 21-3 and outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points per game — the highest in the state. All i n the famil y Nick Emery and T.J. Haws are cutting fresh tracks in their own right, but it can't be overlooked that this year Lone Peak's super duo accomplished something already done by their old- er brothers. Jackson Emery won a state title with the Knights in 2005, and Tyler Haws led Lone Peak to ti- tles in 2007 and 2008. Onl y one team r epeated Wasatch High, in 3A, was the only team to win a sec- ond-straight championship this year. South Summit lost in the 2A champion- ship to South Sevier, while 5A Alta, 4A Timpview and 1A Bryce Valley all lost in early rounds. Bountiful up- ended the Thunderbirds in the first round. In its 136th year, Wasatch Academy won its first boys' basketball champi­onship. Led by 1A MVP Evaldas Aniulis and flashy guard Jarryn Skeete, the Tigers finished 21-3 and outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points per game — the highest in the state.

PREP BOYS’ BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS

Wasatch Academygets first title

In its 136th year, WasatchAcademy won its firstboys’ basketball champi-onship. Led by 1AMVPEvaldas Aniulis and flashyguard Jarryn Skeete, theTigers finished 21-3 andoutscored their opponentsby an average of 25 pointsper game— the highest inthe state.

All in the family

Nick Emery and T.J. Hawsare cutting fresh tracks intheir own right, but it can’tbe overlooked that thisyear Lone Peak’s super duoaccomplished somethingalready done by their old-er brothers. Jackson Emerywon a state title with theKnights in 2005, and TylerHaws led Lone Peak to ti-tles in 2007 and 2008.

Only one teamrepeated

Wasatch High, in 3A, wasthe only team to win a sec-ond-straight championshipthis year. South Summitlost in the 2A champion-ship to South Sevier, while5A Alta, 4A Timpview and1A Bryce Valley all lost inearly rounds. Bountiful up-ended the Thunderbirds inthe first round.

Highland Ramsreign in two sports

For the second year in arow, the school that wonthe 4A championship alsowon the 4A football ti-tle earlier in the schoolyear. Highland did it inboth sports this year, andTimpview accomplishedthe feat last year.

Skyline junior guard JadenJackson led the state inscoring, averaging 24.9points per game. Sky-line finished 10-13 andwas eliminated in the firstround of the 5A tourna-ment by Bingham. Jack-son’s best game came onJan. 4 against East, whenhe poured in 40 points.
