Registration Instructions
Prepared by the International Graduate Competition
2016 Organizing Committee
The purpose of these instructions is to help all teams begin the preparation for the competition and inform the
universities and students about the registration process. These instructions also cover guidance on how to select a
team, a coach and what to expect at the competition.
The Competition We called it a coopetition (i.e. cooperative competition) because we expect participants to cooperate (to some
extent) with other universities while competing for the same prize. They must act as consultants to help a company
find the optimal solution to its multifaceted problems in four distinct disciplines which will be chosen by December
2015. They’ll have 48 hours to work through 4 interrelated cases, identifying key priorities, weighing benefits and
addressing risks. They’ll all go through an open bidding process aiming to get to the final round, in which four
semi-finalist teams present their detailed analysis and recommendations to the company. The depth of analysis for
each individual case, the soundness of integrated solution, and the quality of the written report as well as the oral
presentations will determine which team wins this coopetition.
Before the case study period begins, the participants will take part in various workshops and team building
activities. On the presentation day, each team will give a 10-minute presentation intended to convince the judges
that they completely understand the key issues and are able to find the best solutions for the company. The four
best teams from the first round will move on to the second round and they will have 20 minutes to prove that their
advice is the best in front of the judges and a public.
The Schedule Up to twelve schools from around the world can take part in the fifth edition of this competition.

IMPORTANT
Once the team has been recruited, all coaches must provide a resume (CV) AND proof of enrollment in a Master
program oriented towards research for each team member (e.g.: photocopy of student card with program
information and photo or letter in English with the University Stamp). You must send the documents to:
[email protected]. Two MBA students per team are permitted or one PhD student; the rest of the participants
of the delegation must be master students.
Selecting Your Team Each university selects their team coach and he/she should normally select the students. However, it is to the
school’s discretion on how they proceed. Each team should consist of four students that each have a specialization
in either one of the four disciplines and their accompanying coach. The four disciplines will be announced by
December 2015.
It is highly recommended that you assign beforehand which student will be responsible of which function in order
to prepare adequately. This competition begins with individual cases in each of these disciplines. These 4 cases,
when put together, make the company case. Students from the same university will not be allowed to communicate
during the first part of the analysis (approximately 8 hours). However, they will be allowed to converse and
exchange with students from other universities in the same discipline (ex: All entrepreneurship students will be
together analysing the case during the first 8 hours). It is only after individual analysis that team members will be
allowed to exchange and find a common solution for the company and not just for their function with their
teammates.
Preparing For The Competition Once the university has completed the registration process, the cases from the previous edition will be made
available to the team for practice purposes.
By the end of your preparation, all team members should be able to:
Read and analyse a business case
Read scientific articles
Write a consultant report
Present, as consultants, the case in front of professionals and a large audience
Answer questions from the audience or professionals
