• Make the production of quality work the normal way of doing things – this will make it easier to replicate in the PPEs / Exams!
• Take careful note of teachers advice and guidance – there is plenty of support on offer, inside and outside of lessons!
• Heavy emphasis on revision for PPEs with the homework set over the forthcoming weeks!

MEMORY
Mapping is a brilliant way of organising your thoughts. It can help you
with:
• Note taking during lessons when summarising text
• Explaining complex ideas
• Problem-solving, helping you to see all the issues and how they relate
to each other
• Planning, helping you get all the relevant information down and to
organise it more easily (particularly useful for essays)
• Revision, serving as a quick and efficient means of recalling
information

Sketchnotes:
• are purposeful doodling while listening to something
interesting.
• do not require high drawing skills, but do require a skill to
visually synthesize and summarize via shapes, connectors,
and text.
• are as much a method of note taking as they are a form of
creative expression.

TIME MANAGEMENT
• Make your timetable well in advance and be realistic, particularly
as to how long tasks will take !
TIME MANAGEMENT
• Mixing difficult tasks with easier ones will help you to keep
your timetable. Place difficult tasks in the “best” slots.
• Have deadlines and stick to them. Don’t set deadlines you
cannot meet.
• When you start a piece of work, try and finish it at the time.
Otherwise you will waste time when you restart, trying to work
out where you were and what you were going to do next.
• Don’t put off tasks that you do not want to do.
• Do put off dealing with things that are unimportant.
TIME MANAGEMENT
• If possible, share tasks or use the expertise of others who can
help.
• Analyse the interruptions you experience during the day and
learn to say “no” without feeling guilty.
• Break down your work into manageable chunks.
• Review your “free time”, eg, if you travel by bus or train, could
you use the time to read notes …
• Attend revision sessions armed with questions to address with
your teacher

OUR WELL-BEING TEAM
We want our students to take responsibility for their choices and set themselves the highest expectations… The new ‘tick system’ in lessons will help them to make the right behaviour choices. Outside lessons we also expect that students demonstrate the highest standards of behaviour as ambassadors for our school
MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE
• There is a strong link between excellent
attendance and achievement
• In 2015, students whose attendance was at least
97%, on average, achieved a higher grade in
their best 8 subjects than those whose
attendance fell below this benchmark
