PHILOSOPHY "RUDE"

To know the origin of the Rude boys have to go back to the history of Jamaica, a country where this culture originated. Jamaica was a British colony until 1958 when he took his first steps of independence by joining the West Indies Federation, and later, in 1962, becoming independent completely.

At that time, music was fashionable 'ska' so it was music that identified this new culture-called "rude boys" or tough guys, who engaged in street violence became protagonists in the fight against social workers capitalism.

After the rise of other musical genres such as rocksteady and reggae rude boy culturewas taking other nuances, and street violence of those times it was becoming a struggle for peace and brotherhood.

THE MUSICThe 'ska' is a musical genre born

in Kingston, Jamaica in the

fifties influenced

byAmerican rhythms such as

jazz and Rhythm & Blues but merged

with native rhythms such as calypso.

The consolidation of the music 'ska' in

the decade of the

60 matches Jamaica's

independence from British

rule. However, in the 70's when the

'ska' would represent a socialist

ideology characteristic of

the island at that time.

The word is a derivation

of reggae ragga, which in turn is

an abbreviation

of raggamuffin,which in English

means literally in rags. We used

this label to name the poor

in Jamaica,and also

the Rastas and cultural

movements of the slums.

It is said that this genre is

derived from 'ska' and had its

origin in the 70's. It is

characterized by socialist

ideas in their

lyrics and profess peace

and racial equality.
