Environmental Upgrade Program
Metallurgical Complex of La Oroya
The stations monitor air quality in the sorroundings of the Metallurgical Complex. This proyectrequired an investment of US 0.63 million and is operational since 1999.
Monitoring stations
This project eliminated the discharge of copper and lead slag to the Mantaro river. It required an
investment of US$ 9.71 million. Its operational since 2001.
Cu and Pb slag handling
This project allows the safe storage and handling of arsenic trioxide. To this end, Doe Run Perú invested
US$ 2,42 million. The project is operative since February 2001.
Arsenic Trioxide deposit
This project eliminated discharges to the Yauli river. The investment required was US$ 3.11 million. It is
operational since December 2003.
Water treatment plant – Copper Refinery
The objetive of this project is the safe storage and handling of ferrites. An investment of US$ 2,12
million was required. It is operational since November 2002.
Ferrites Deposit
The objetive of the program is to secure a safe slag deposit. An investment of US$ 1.09 million was
required and is operational since May 2004.
Remediated slag deposit
Doe Run Peru construted three plants (Huaymanta, Chúlec, and Fundición) with a total investment of
US$ 7.26 million.
Tratamiento de aguas servidas
With nearly US$ 39 million investment, this plant secures that all industrial effluent discharges comply
with international standards for water used in agriculture.
Industrial WasteWater Plant
This project required conditioning works in several units of the Central Cottrel and the construction and
installation of new dust collectors.
Dust emission reduction through the stack
The efforts to control fugitive emissions included sinter plant ventilation, enclosures, anodic residues
ventilation among others.
Fugitive emissions reduction
In December 2006 Doe Run Peru completed the upgrade and expansion of the Zinc Circuit Sulfuric Acid
Plant.

Doe Run Peru has partnered with the surrounding communities in a widespread tree planting projects
resulting in improved environmental conditions..
Lead Circuit Sulfuric Acid Plant
The new Lead Circuit Sulfuric Acid Plant required an overall investment of US $ 50 million and will make
possible a 50% reduction in SO2 emissions. The new plant was inaugurated September 30, 2008.
September 30 2008, Doe Run peru also inaugurated a new acid storage and handling terminal with a
30,800 MT capacity.

When Doe Run Peru completes its environmental upgrade program in October 2009, total investment is
stemated to reach US$ 400 million.
In this manner, Doe Run Peru will meet its obligations with the Peruvian State and the people of La
Oroya.
