BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Segun Akin-Olugbade - CEO/Director of Development
Segun Akin-Olugbade is the brain behind SE Automotive, and responsible for a large part of the set up strategy of the organisation. He is also responsible for the design of the SE Dau, the company’s first car, and the quarter scale SE Dau Prototype. Segun has experience in automotive design and engineering from Perei Engineering (UK) Limited, where he worked as a Concept Development Engineer. He also engaged in a number of live, industry design projects at Coventry University, and Loughborough University in the UK, where he obtained a BA in Automotive Design, and a BEng in Automotive Engineering respectively.
Segun’s vision is for an industrialised Nigeria, supported in large part by a sustainable automotive industry. In addition to creating a formidable automotive business, Segun is also looking to pioneer skills growth in advanced automotive design and engineering development, by introducing state of the art methods of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Manufacture (CAM). In addition to putting Nigeria on the automotive development map, this will give engineers a broader range of skills, which they can use to create opportunities for themselves by innovating in their respective environments.
Abdullahi Yusuf – Director of Design
Abdullahi Yusuf is a self-taught specialist in exterior car design. He is the product of few opportunities used to the absolute extent of their possibilities. Though Abdullahi graduated with a BA in English from Bayero University Kano, he trained himself with limited support and resources to achieve par status with the products of some of the very best design institutes in the world.
Abdullahi has been instrumental in the setting up of SE Automotive with extensive strategy and design input. He has made great impact with detailed design additions for the SE Dau Coupe, and is also responsible for the quarter scale prototype of the SE Dau. Abdul’s vision is to serve as a vessel for the development of indigenous design, and to make Nigeria a design development centre for Automobile companies.
‘Lola Osideko – Business Development Manager/HR
Lola Osideko is a graduate of Computer Science from Lagos State University, who has spent five years working in several positions in Nigeria’s aviation industry. Her work has traversed positions ranging from customer services to business development. Her most recent aviation position, as Sales and Business Development Manager at Evergreen Apple saw her create a loyalty program to handle client accounts for private jet and corporate helicopter owners, developing product options which delivered high returns on investment for her clients. This specific experience puts her in the perfect position to handle SE Automotive’s exclusive product proposition, right through from the sourcing of funds to sales from our sports car line.
Lola is also a member of the Project Management Institute.
Tope Akinmade - Financial Controller(Non-Executive Director)
Tope Akinmade holds a MBA from the Johns Hopkins University, USA and a B.S in Finance with Magna Cum Laude Honors from the University of Baltimore, USA. She has undergone various Accounting & Finance related training and certifications and is on her way to becoming a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. In her day job, Tope supports her team in identifying potential business prospects or opportunities for expansion (both locally and internationally) through in-depth country, sector/ company research and financial analysis. She currently provides financial advisory support to SE Automotive.

2.1.2 Leather and fabrics: As our first product requires custom leatherwork for a high quality to give an exclusive interior, we intend to use leather from the north using the craftsmen from all over the country). Fati Maida is an indigenous leather footwear designer who has created a brand of her own, making high quality leather footwear, which she has had on show at the Le Petit Marche in Lagos and the Soko Stingo Style Market in Accra, Ghana. Fati Maida has joined SE Automotive to create design themes that will showcase the depth of material and skills availability in the northern region.
2.1.3 Glass: We have identified ISOGlass Industries, glass manufacturers from Ibadan, who have specialized in products for the automotive industry with 30 years’ experience. Working with SE Automotive could help secure the future of this organisation, which has seen its market share eroded by cheap, sub-standard Chinese imports.
2.1.4 Metal Foundries: SE Automotive will work with local foundries from inception to understand what components (particularly where body, chassis and suspension are concerned) can be manufactured locally. SE Automotive will work with the right organisation to develop products it can use in the medium term, allowing proper development of these components to take place.
2.2 Job Creation and Training: Our Human Resource Department is developing transparent and professional policies that target increased local content in our workforce, providing opportunities for Nigerian trained engineers and technicians. SE Automotive recognizes the impact that people will have on our success, and will spare no effort in ensuring their personal and career development needs are catered to. Our production is fully manual from inception, therefore relying on people to deliver outstanding products. SE will provide a training budget for each employee to enhance his capabilities and to enable them to grow within the company.
2.3 Knowledge Creation and Transfer: New career opportunities that did not previously exist in Nigeria will begin to spring up as a result of SE Automotive’s operations. The CEO of SE Automotive is seeking links with Yaba College of Technology to teach automotive design and engineering, with a view to creating a crop of next generation engineers and designers who have innovative ideas and competent skills.
Additionally, SE will hire an experienced automotive industry veteran to oversee the start of operations, ensuring the integration of industry standards and methods, and efficient transfer of skills and knowledge to all staff from management to the shop floor. Team and individual targets will be set. Progress will be monitored to ensure all team members are truly gaining relevant industry competence.
Our industry veteran will also be involved in our commitment to education in the community, either through Yaba College of Technology, or some other organisation.
2.4 Creation of Dependent businesses: SE Automotive is aware that the addition of new, dependent businesses will be critical to the creation of a formidable Automotive Industry and, in fact, our own sustainability. Such organisations, normally parts suppliers and service providers, will take components
of the final automotive product, and seek specialisation in production of that system, or provision of that service. This will allow SE Automotive to eventually focus on what it does best – creation of cars which are set apart from the rest in quality and experience. The opportunities we see include, but are not limited to those mentioned in section 2.1. SE Automotive will always consider, with great interest, any indigenous organisation that proposes business in supply of components of provision of services, which are sourced from abroad. SE Automotive could, in fact, purchase stakes in such organisations to show support for their efforts.
2.5 Wealth creation: Evidently, taking all the above into consideration, there is a great opportunity to generate wealth through a sustainable automotive industry. Manufacturers and suppliers who rise to the charge of supplying components or even competing in the market will drive an increase in the wealth generation capacity which will reflect on our national GDP. SE Automotive is also targeting exports of its products, right from the launch of the SE Dau. This will spark an influx of foreign currency into our economy, with positive effects on our exchange rates.
