• The Romans occupied most of England and Wales in AD 43, but not Scotland.

• The Romans were afraid of the Scots. Therefore they built a wall along the Scottish border. It was named Hadrian’s wall.

• They were descendants of Viking settlers in northern France.

 

The Vikings were people who lived in Denmark, Sweden and Norway over a thousand years ago.

 

The Vikings were great seafarers who attacked cities and towns all over Europe.

It was hard to find good farmland. Many young men sailed out to see what they could find. Often they raided what they came across.
