S Raghupathy currently heads the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - Sohrabji
Godrej Green Business Centre. He has over 18 years of experience in conducting
Energy Management studies for companies across industries. He is leading a team
of experts to facilitate the Green Building movement, National Energy Efficiency
movement and Water Management practices at a national level. Raghupathy is a

bagged the Platinum rating awarded by the US GBC for the CII - Godrej
GBC building.

Dr. P.N. Ravindra - Executive Engineer, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board
Dr Ravindra is the Executive Engineer for the New Initiative and Public Outreach with
the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). He is involved in the
execution of prestigious projects and has designed and executed several major
assignments for the Department at BWSSB. Dr Ravindra has authored books on water
and waste water engineering and published several research papers in peer-reviewed
journals. He has also presented his papers in national and international conferences.

2000 by the Government of Karnataka. He is also a recipient of the Jala

Eli Cohen - Founder and CEO, AYALA Water & Ecology
Eli Cohen has over 23 years experience and is an expert in Sustainability and Phyto -
technology. His company focuses on holistic planning using natural, sustainable and
durable elements for rural and urban water management, purification of water, air and soil,
passive energy conservation and construction of sustainable systems.
Eli has developed the self-sustaining NBS - Natural Biological System that has

the capability to function as a natural purifier of water, soil and air. He has
designed and constructed more than 800 ornamental pond, lake and water
features, functioning on this concept. He has also been involved in the
designing and construction of over 90 Natural Biological Systems worldwide
(Israel, Greece, France, Ethiopia, India, Uzbekistan, and Mexico), for the
sewage purification treatment of different kinds of waste. Eli is a consultant
for organisations around the world, in countries such as Singapore, China
and the US on Natural Bological System approaches and applications.
He is a member and Israel legate for the European Community COST 859
committee; an expert in NATO's environmental specialist team in the Phyto -
technology applications field and member of the International Phyto –
technology Society.

Digu Aruchamy - Senior Associate Consultant – Sustainability, Infosys
Digu Aruchamy has been working with Infosys for over four years and has handled
multiple projects in water conservation, waste water recycling and reuse, across Infosys
campuses in India.
Digu was responsible for Infosys’ water sustainability strategy from 2010 to 2012.
He has worked on the carbon disclosure project and sustainability reports for the

S.Vishwanath - Biome Environmental Solutions
S Vishwanath is a Civil Engineer and Urban Planner with over 26 years of experience in
the water and sanitation sector. He is the Secretary-General, International Rainwater
Catchments Systems Association (IRCSA) and Advisor to Arghyam- a funding agency in
the water and sanitation sector.
He started a Rainwater Club in Bangalore in 1994 that has led Bangalore to be the

Almitra H. Patel
Almitra H. Patel is a Member of the Supreme Court Committee for Solid Waste
Management, India. Her career spans across 31 years of experience in abrasives,
foundry-refractories, cement tile industries and indigenous production of imported
items. In 1996, Almitra was a petitioner in the Supreme Court to stop the open
dumping of garbage in 100,000+ population cities in all Indian States and Union
Territories. This resulted in the Notification of Municipal Solid Waste (Management

applicable to all town and cities having a population of over 20,000.
As an environment activist she has been involved in several government -
appointed committees and other related projects. Almitra has personally
visited 161 Indian cities (plus 19 facilities in seven countries abroad) to
inspect their waste management practices and interact with officials.
She has received the ‘Economic Times’ Achiever of the Year for Environment’
in Karnataka and ‘Golden Jubilee Award for Environment’ from the Bangalore
City Corporation during 1997. In 2004, she was also honored with the
‘Kempegowda Award - Winner for Environment’.

Dr. Meenakshi Bharath
Dr. Meenakshi Bharath is an ardent green campaigner for a healthy life, an advocate
for Clean Bangalore, a strident voice for garbage segregation and recycling and a
relentless fighter to create visibility for the problems of voiceless people.
In 2008, Dr Meenakshi started working on waste management with an initiative in
Malleswaram called Yes, In My Back Yard (YIMBY). From there she joined like-

minded citizens across Bangalore in forming the Solid Waste Management Round
Table (SWMRT) to co-ordinate efforts in dealing with waste. These initiatives
have now resulted in the BBMP taking up the revolutionary initiative to clean
up Bangalore with Garbage Management instead of Garbage Dumping.
She has dedicated several years in public service, working on different
domains such as voter list correction, solid waste management and health
awareness campaigns.

Vivek Menon - CEO, Invicus
Vivek Menon is an entrepreneur and social change maker, currently serving as the
CEO of Invicus, a Civil Infrastructure consulting firm. Vivek heads the infrastructure
subcommittee at the Center for infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation and Urban
Planning (CiSTUP) of Indian Institute of Science (IISc). He is a prominent advisor to
the Department of Urban Land Transport, a member of Bangalore City Connect
Foundation (BCCF) and serves on the Board of Advisors of the Sherwood Institute.

Sudeept Maiti - Associate Urban Development and Accessibility, EMBARQ India
Sudeept Maiti coordinates technical support for accessibility planning and
development and for non-motorised transport networks and strategies. He is based in
Bangalore and is working with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport to help develop
accessibility and non-motorised transport strategies, for the Hubli-Dharwad BRTS
corridor.

Sudeept is also involved in developing accessibility networks for private
township developments in Bangalore, Mumbai and Ahmedabad and conducting
capacity building workshops on campus accessibility. Prior to EMBARQ,
Sudeept has been involved with several consultancy projects in the field of

Nina Chandavarkar - Oikos
Nina Chandavarkar is an experienced Architect, Landscape Architect and
Founding Partner of the firm Oikos. Her work experience spans across India and
the US, including master planning and landscape design for several IT campuses
in Electronics City, Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad, site planning for townships,
residential complexes in Bangalore, resorts in Kerala and industrial parks in
Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Bangalore.

community street and redevelopment of a housing project. Nina has a
significant background in ecological planning, urban design, site planning
and landscape design, enabling her to work on diverse projects while

in Bangalore.

Sekar James – Master Plan
Sekar James is a pioneer in the field of Landscape Architecture in India. He was the
founding partner of the erstwhile firm Blackrose and in 1993 moved to start his own
venture, Master Plan. His work is well recognised and appreciated at a nation level and
abroad. Sekar was recently felicitated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India.
His projects include residences, condominiums, retail and commercial spaces, hotels
and resorts and software parks.

incorporates a great deal of architectural elements in his landscape designs.

India Builders Corporation and more. His international portfolio includes
projects in Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Dubai.

The organisation has achieved a 40% reduction in their per captia electricity
consumption and 25% of their electricity comes from renewable sources.
As part of his Infrastructure responsibility he is currently overseeing over

Punit H Desai – Senior Manager - Green Initiatives, Infosys
Punit Desai works with the Green Initiatives/Infrastructure team at Infosys and heads
the Smart Building practice. His goal is to make every building at Infosys a smart
building consuming minimum energy and resources, while meeting business needs
and providing conducive work surroundings for all.
