Quinta do Carvalhinho is a beautiful
wine estate situated in the village of
Ventosa do Bairro, near Mealhada.
Quinta do Carvalhinho has been in
the same family since Serafim Navega
acquired it in 1890.
Like many other traditional houses in
Bairrada, vineyards and wine have
always been part of the day to day
routine.
In addition to wine, Quinta do
Carvalhinho is also famous for its
Country House Inn.
The vineyards at Quinta do Carvalhinho
are our main priority. Through close
monitoring in planting, pruning, propping
and phytosanitary treatments, they
provide one of the best Bairrada wines.
There are 11 hectares of red variety
grapes and 3 hectares of white variety
ones.
According to the integrated production,
sustainable products are the most
important, searching for a natural
balance between the vines, soil and
treatment products.
Sustainability is our concern to get a
quality product without compromising
the natural factors of the grape
production.
The wine Quinta do Carvalhinho is
produced from the grapes of Baga
(indigenous grape variety of Bairrada),
Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and
Caladoc.
All the white wine produced is for the
production of the sparkling wine.
The home market and several
international markets, among which
stand out Germany, Austria and the USA,
are the main purpose of the wine selling.
The preparation, storage and bottling of
the wines is made at Quinta do
Carvalhinho wine cellar.
Coming directly from the demarcated
region of Bairrada, the key wine region
of sparkling wines in Portugal, Quinta do
Carvalhinho sparkling wine is made using
the méthode champenoise.
Three types of sparkling wines are
produced: Red, White and Rosé.
In white wine varieties stand out
Sauvignon Blanc and Maria Gomes.
In red wine varieties, the main ones used
are Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and
Merlot..
