Presentation Specification: Extended Client Meeting Presentation

The Extended Client Meeting presentation is an ideal presentation to use when meeting with a client face-to-face. We selected the kinds of data points to facilitate client meetings including:

♦ Commentary and Disclaimer pages to use as a letter to the client, explanation of market conditions, or newsletter.

♦ Holdings information by position – show your clients a snapshot of the portfolio holdings on a certain day so they have a better understanding of where they are today.

♦ Allocation of asset values – a pie chart that shows their current diversification so they can clearly see where they stand, and you can effectively explain where they want to go.

♦ Portfolio Value versus the Net Investment – show them how their net investment has grown over time.

♦ Performance data over time –help clients understand better whether or not they are on track with their ideal investment strategy and expectations and help determine if they should keep with the same strategy or modify it somewhat to adjust to market conditions, comfort level with investing or life status.

♦ Position-level performance data – help clients better understand the relationship of each of the positions in the portfolio and how the performance for each of those positions can affect the overall performance of the portfolio.

This document gives you information about the pages contained in this presentation, followed by a sample of the presentation, so you can decide if this presentation will meet the needs of your clients.

The Portfolio Overview Page

The Portfolio Overview Page is split into quadrants to provide your clients – on a single page – with rich data about their account. On this page, they can see:

♦ Components of Change – show clients how their portfolio changed over the period by virtue of activities like capital flows, income, management fees, capital appreciation, and realized gain.

♦ Asset Allocation – show your clients their current allocation by asset class on the selected As Of date.

♦ Portfolio Returns – display the time weighted return, as compared to a target and other benchmarks assigned

to the portfolio. Gain a better understanding of the overall health of the combination of assets in the portfolio during the period.

♦ Portfolio Value vs. Cumulative Net Investment – show your clients their effective return on investment by comparing the amount they contribute to the portfolio as compared to value of the portfolio. From this graph, you can learn whether you are making the best overall investment decisions and evaluate if it might be time to reconfigure the investment strategy.

On the Web The Portfolio Overview page contains performance and benchmark data. The Performance dates are automatically calculated, based on the intervals generated for the portfolio and the As Of date selected. For more information, see Understanding Dynamic Date Ranges for Performance Data on Client Presentations at https://schwabpt.com/pdflibrary/open.asp?id=011889. The benchmark data comes from assignments made on the portfolio or group details. For more information about these settings, see Using Index, Target and Benchmark Data on Client Presentations at https://schwabpt.com/pdflibrary/open.asp?id=011674.

Financial Market Analysis and Sector Outlook

The economy is battling significant headwinds this year. Some factors include gridlock in the credit market, a weak dollar, and significant inflationary pressures, all of which has investors justifiably on edge.

OutlookThere is no doubt that oil and food prices are driving inflationary pressures. However, when you consider that the value of all outstanding commodity derivatives has grown from roughly $1 Trillion in 2004 to over $8 Trillion today, there can be little doubt that excess liquidity in the marketplace has led to rampant speculation. There is no doubt that soaring oil and food prices are already a drag on growth worldwide. It is our belief that many overseas markets have not yet felt the full impact of these forces and willsee their growth rates moderate over the near term. We believe U.S. inflation will moderate over the next 6 – 9 months due to a few key factors:

Significant housing inventories will continue to depress home prices, reducing household wealth.Business hiring is flat with no meaningful indicators of an upturn in view.Credit availability will remain scarce due to heightened lending standards, resulting from the movement toward widespread deleveraging.

The result is that the U.S. Consumer is facing enormous pressures at the pump, for food, and for shelter and as a result discretionary spending is plummeting. Lacking the necessary fundamentals to drive growth in wages our household wealth, there is no fuel for any meaningful continued grown of core inflation.
