This kitchen is a prime example of modern design combined with classical style. The stainless steel pattern on the walls and floor give the kitchen a modern feel, while the bright yellow cabinets and drapes add a contrast, and brighten the room. The large window allows light, and enhances the colors in the kitchen.

This spa room provides a sense of balance and tranquility. The solid colors used for the tiling flow nicely with the smooth lines of the room. The oddly shaped symmetrical tub is aesthetically pleasing, and adds to the uniqueness of this design. Large sliding glass doors add to the feeling of harmony with the beautiful view of the lake beyond.

This scale model of a retro-modern living room offers a unique style that transports you to a quirky time in the future. The asymmetrical shape of the room is emphasized by the eclectic furnishings. An angular shadow box placed above the television draws the eye and adds to your distorted feeling of chaos and rhythm.

The classic design of this living room leaves a pleasant taste of elegance with modern accents. The large chandelier offers a radial balance, drawing your attention to the ceiling. The lack of furnishings however, leaves the room feeling somewhat void. The large French doors leading to the kitchen allow for a view of the checkered textiles, that contrast nicely with the wood panel floors.

Walking into this room you are filled with a sense of organic bare necessities. This room would be perfect for a vacation cabin in the mountains, with its original form and different textures. I feel like the room is too dark, and does not provide enough curvilinear lines, however the beautifully patterned brick nicely balances the multiple wood furnishings.

The ambient lighting in this bathroom remodel provides a sense of romance and a form of elegance. The large bay windows above the tub bring in ample light. The wall paper provides a tactile sense of a summer sunset with it’s amber colors and wildlife. Black tiles bring a clean feel to the room.

This playful bedroom design is comforting with it’s neutral color scheme, and light colorings. The fish netting around the bed adds a playful touch of rectilinearly flowing lines. The light blue walls add a cheerful touch, and the room is proportioned well with it’s limited space.

This modern home is simplistic, and artsy. The phrase less is more is brought to mind with these sparse, but loud pieces of furniture. The geometric forms of these pieces are perfectly placed in correlation to the room’s shape and form. Large windows and dark walls accent the brightly colored furniture, pull the rooms together.

This room is based on a retro design with radical patterns that bring the focus of your attention to the throw rug. The radial balance occurs here, with the other furniture accenting the colors in the rug. The orange provides a bright contrast to the darker shades in the carpet.

Shabby Chic is the design style that comes to mind with this room. The darker colors carry much visual weight and contrast with the neon greens in the room.

Class Review

This class was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. The type of assignments we had were fun and kept me entertained. I’ve had many distance learning classes, and the communication Tone provides us is unprecedented. The amount of work was always fair, and accomplishable. My two favorite projects were the block lettering, and this final project. My least favorite assignment was the initial design composition. Though I do not plan on pursuing a career in Interior Design, this class was tons of fun and I definitely learned a lot about design, which is something that I will use in the future for designing my own rooms. The materials provided and the supporting documentation was ample.
