I used Photoshop to create my billboard and front cover.

This PowerPoint explains how I have used Photoshop to create my ancillary front cover which will also help with using technologies in Q.4.

1. Firstly I opened the image on Photoshop.

2. Using the magic wand tool, I then cut around the star to remove the background.

3. After removing the background from the original image, I filled in the background in my desired colour. I later changed this background in my second draft by using the paintbrush to add a glow around the star.

After adding in a new background, I then added in the masthead by selecting the text box and font, size etc. I then played around with the layers to ensure the text was behind the stars head.

4. I then began to add in more features such as the strap line. This is situated at the bottom of the cover, anchored on the star. I later changed this in my second and third drafts to a different font to suit the target audience more.

5. After writing the strap line on the star, I then needed more information to entice the audience to buy the magazine. This had to be short and sweet but get to the point.

6. I then added in more features onto my magazine as it is a main convention of front covers. As I took inspiration from a fabulous magazine, I followed the conventions of their front covers – in this case the features are bold and minimal. The two features have been changed in my draft two to add another to give the reader more reasons to buy the magazine.
