About the Presentation BallThe Year 11 Presentation Ball is the much loved annual Trinity tradition when Year 11 students are introduced to the community as young adults. The first Presentation Ball was held in 1988 and has occured every year since then. Presentees and other guests enjoy a two course meal (main and dessert) as well as dancing.

While the Presentation Ball is not a compulsory event on the Trinity College calendar it is always a memorable and very enjoyable occasion for all who attend. In previous years, even students who may have felt an event of this type is not something that would generally be of interest to them, have reported “they had a ball” and are exceptionally glad they chose to attend!

Presentation Ball EtiquetteThe Presentation Ball is foremost a social occasion however, all Trinity College students in attendance are expected to maintain appropriate behavioural standards at all times. The festivities conclude at midnight and the venue will then be vacated. Trinity College’s responsibility for the students’ welfare ceases at this time.

In previous years (on occasion) some presentees have gone on to attend after ball parties. These functions are in no way connected to Trinity College. It is important that such parties are well supervised and parents should feel comfortable contacting the parents of a prospective host to confirm that there will be adequate supervision by responsible adults.

We also suggest host adults inform local police to provide patrols in the area to safeguard against gate crashers. Experience has shown that the most successful after ball gatherings have been small affairs with close friendship groups and no alcohol consumed, rather than a large all-in events.

Ticket InformationAll tickets $110.00 eachTickets are sold from Central Administration and all presentees and guests must purchase a ticket to attend. Tickets can be purchased individually or in groups (tables of ten). At the time of purchase you will be able to view a seating plan of the room. Please ensure any dietary requirements are recorded at the time of ticket purchase. Requests to accommodate specific dietary needs at the event will be declined. This event is for presentees, adults and students in Year 8 and above only. Please contact Ms Vickie Lester if this will cause difficulites for you.

Guest AttireFormal attire suitable for a black tie event. No denim please.

Presentee PartnersPresentees are partnered according to height (shortest to tallest). This is fair to all students and ensures that everyone has a partner of an appro-priate height for formal dancing. Students have the option to be lead dancer or the follower. It is tradi-tional for the male dancer to be the lead.

Presentees are required to be presented with their allocated partner and dance the first and last dance together. For all other dances, presentees are free to dance with a partner of their choice. All presen-tees are expected to treat their allocated partners with respect and courtesy. Presentees may choose to buy their partners a small gift such as a corsage, button hole or box of chocolates. Whether or not gifts are exchanged is left to the individual presen-tees’ discretion, there is no obligation.

Cultural DressStudents are invited to wear the national dress of their heritage. For example a kilt, sari or jellabiya.
