Why did LUX* create and maintain this Expert-led Workshops ?
LUX* Resorts & Hotels cares about its guests – themselves and their wishes.
First of all, LUX* took advantage of what has been organized for our Top invitees who were part of the
Launch Event of LUX* South Ari Atoll in the Maldives last year. The idea of the Launch program was to
highlight our LUX* concept based on the experiences : enjoy life and create moments that matters. To
liven up this event, innovative experiences and workshops were suggested such as meditation
sessions, yoga classes, photography & Instagram workshops…
The program has really been appreciated by our guests ; Partners and Journalists were thrilled to test
them and they finally gave a genuine meaning of innovative vacations and moments that really matters,
creating a lifetime of memories. Thanks to that successful experience, LUX* decided to enhance the
“Expert-led Workshops” concept to all of our resorts in Mauritius, in Reunion Island and in the Maldives
and in Bodrum as from Summer 2018 where LUX* just opened a new resort.
Every session of the Expert-led Workshops is an occasion to improve the experience for our guests
thanks to their comments and feedbacks all over our resorts.
The Expert-led Workshops come indeed from the needs of our guests. They expressed the wish to test
and try new activities during their holidays, or even to escape from the day to day life with original
activities offered.

Our Expert-led Workshops are qualified and successful thanks to the professionalism and the grade of the selected Experts.
Looking for and selecting appropriate Experts is a process that have costs, financial and temporary.
As the Experts are worldwide known, we try to negotiate a minimum fee for their attendance, the most important cost will be in the travel and accommodation expenses for the Experts. Experts who worked with LUX* last year are very keen to continue this collaboration for next year, helping us to control costs.
The Workshops request as well raw materials that need to be bought in order to ensure an operating workshop.
Communication is essential to ensure our message and concept is well delivered. The communication is as internal - to the LUX* Team Members in the resorts ; as external - to the Trade press and Social Medias.
Regarding this, communication has been integrated in the Workshop’s budget.
One Expert-led Workshop costs around €6,000 when it is driven in Reunion Island or the Maldives, and it costs around €2,500 when it is in Mauritius.
The cost is less in Mauritius as it is shared between our 3 resorts - LUX* Grand Gaube, LUX* Le Morne& LUX* Belle Mare - while we have one property in other destinations.
Expert-led Workshop annual investment is around €155,000.
Our objective is to cover our cost on the Year 2.
LUX* EXPERT-LED WORKSHOPS – Return on Investment
EXPERT-LED WORKSHOPS
Expert-led Workshops’ return on investment can be measured through different ways.
1 – Direct revenues from guests and local people’s workshop participation
It is very easy to measure success of a workshop thanks to its attendance ratio. Workshops are charged
around €50 per person. As we are in our first year of implementation, some of them have been free of
charge in order to offer our guests a discovery of this new approach and to get their feedbacks.
2 – Indirect revenues
Quantify satisfaction and delight of our guests is something more challenging. These are our indirect
revenues: when they are back from our resort guests will communicate about what they lived and
experienced. More than figures, we can rely on the very good feedbacks posted on social medias and in
the guestbook (some feedback examples at the end of this presentation).
The main aim of the workshops is to delight & inspire our guests but as a consequence, this pioneering
implementation allows to illustrate and sustain our innovation core competence.
3 – Raw material costs
Direct raw material costs are around €250 per workshop. The workshop will be profitable as from 5 guests
per session.
4 – Resorts’ Occupancy rates
This ratio is quite difficult to measure as the workshops organisation is still very young. However we know
that a lot of our guests are repeaters (in the same or other resort) and we forecast that this will help to
increase.
The Expert-led workshops are also a new loyalty tool.

Hi Axelle, had a wonderful moment at LUX* Reunion as you know.All practices was 30+ participants daily.We had lots of instagrammers covering the event too !
I had a debrief with the Manager and we came to the fact that this experience should be renewed monthly as there's the demand for it.The combination of active meditation in the morning and a sound medicine journey in the afternoon was a perfect combination and ideal for most.
