Smt. Sharadchandrika Suresh Patil College of

Pharmacy Chopda was established in 1992 as

self financed pharmacy college in the North

Maharashtra University, (NMU) Jalgaon. The

institution has made a steady progress during

last 24 years. In the year 2006 with the

intention of making this institution a centre of

higher learning, started M. Pharm. in

Pharmaceutics (2006) later M. Pharm in

Pharmacognosy (2007) and centre for Ph. D. in

Pharmaceutical Sciences (2011). All the

courses conducted in this Institution are

recognized by Pharmacy Council of India, New

Delhi, All India Council for Technical

Education, New Delhi. B. Pharm., M. Pharm.

and Ph. D. courses are affiliated to North

Maharashtra University, (NMU) Jalgaon.

The seventh edition of the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP-2014),officially released in November last year by

the Indian Pharmacopoeia commission (IPC) has come into force in the country with no further

extension of its implementation by the regulatory authorities. The IP 2014 is presented in four volumes.

Pharmacopoeia has been extended to include products of biotechonology ,indigenous herbs ans herbal

products ,veterinary vaccines and additional antiretroviral drugs and formulations,inclusive of

commonly used fixed dose combinations . Standards for new drugs ,drugs used under National Health

Programmes are added and drugs as well as their formulation not in use now a days are omitted.

INDIAN PHARMACOPOEIA-2014 COMES INTO FORCE






IP2014 incorporates 2548 monographs of drugs out of which 577 are new monographs consisting of

APIs ,excipients, dosage forms, antibiotic monographs,insulin products, herbal products. 19 new

radiopharmaceuticals monographs and 1 general chapter is included first time.

IP2014 is published in fulfillment of the requirements of the drugs and cosmetics Act,1940,rules

thereunder . It prescribes the standards for drugs produced and /or marketed in India and thus

contributes in the control and assurances of the quality of medicine.

Maharashtra that manufactures and sells pharmaceutical formulations and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs)

creates the fifth largest specialty generics company in the world and the largest pharmaceutical company in India. The

profitable pharmaceutical company in India, as well as the largest pharmaceutical company by market capitalisation on the

Indian exchanges.

NPPA is an organization of the Government of India which was established, inter alia, to fix/ revise the prices of

controlled bulk drugs and formulations and to enforce prices and availability of the medicines in the country, under the

Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995. The organization is also entrusted with the task of recovering amounts

overcharged by manufacturers for the controlled drugs from the consumers. It also monitors the prices of decontrolled

drugs in order to keep them at reasonable levels.

1. To implement and enforce the provisions of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order in accordance with the powers delegated to it.

2. to deal with all legal matters arising out of the decisions of the Authority; 3. to monitor the availability of drugs, identify shortages, if any, and to take remedial

steps; 4. to collect/ maintain data on production, exports and imports, market share of individual

companies, profitability of companies etc, for bulk drugs and formulations; 5. to undertake and/ or sponsor relevant studies in respect of pricing of drugs/

pharmaceuticals; 6. to recruit/ appoint the officers and other staff members of the Authority, as per rules

and procedures laid down by the Government; 7. to render advice to the Central Government on changes/ revisions in the drug policy; 8. to render assistance to the Central Government in the parliamentary matters relating to

the drug pricing.
