The United States of America has had many Presidents.Each President was chosen by citizens to represent the peopleof our country.

As Head of State, the President represents the American people to others throughout the world. He meets with dignitaries or representatives of foreign countries.

The President can share his duties as America’s representative by appointing ambassadors. These men and women also represent The United States in other countries.

The President is the leader of the United States’ government. As its leader, he has many duties to perform.

The President is responsible for fifteen (15) executive agencies. He appoints directors to run these departments.

Each agency helps the President to operate different parts of our government.

Another Presidential duty includes working with Congress. Congress is made up of Senators and Representatives from each of the 50 states.

Congress works to create new laws. The President can choose to either veto or approve the laws that United States’ citizens must

follow.

Also, the President’s duties include choosing justices to serve on the Supreme Court. Supreme Court Justices make sure that all laws are understood and are fairly carried out.

Another duty of the President is to act as Commander-in-Chief. The President is the leader of the United States’ military forces.

The President can use the power of the military to enforce laws in our country and to serve as a military presence in foreign countries.

With all of his duties, the President of the United States may be considered one of the most important jobs in America.
