Stop by and say “HI!” Part of our job at the President’s Club is to keep our members’ financial information safe and let you know of any potential scams. We have been made aware of a recent scam involving email requests to create a Social Security account online. The “my Social Security account” is a recently released service for the public but the agency is not sending emails to generate enrollment. Do not click on any links sent to you in these emails. Instead, access www. socialsecurity.gov to set up an account, if you wish to. Please be aware the anyone calling you and asking for account numbers, social security numbers, debit card numbers or PINs is not to be trusted. Find out who is calling and offer to call them back. And, as always, St. Johns Bank will not call you and ask for any account numbers. If you ever have any financial security questions, please contact Debbie or someone at any of our branches for assistance. Our club members who went to San Antonio with us in April had a great time. Be on the lookout for great trips coming up in 2014. Between newsletters be sure to check our page at www.stjohnsbank.com for upcoming trip announcements. As a reminder, to be an active President’s Club member, you must maintain a minimum balance of $2,500 in a checking account, savings account, certificate of deposit or IRA certificate of deposit in order to receive the free benefits including a limited number of money orders and cashier’s checks, printed club checks and stop payments. We will depart Main Bank at 7 a.m. and return about 7 p.m. Join St. Johns Bank President’s Club as we enjoy the fall color of Arthur and East Central Illinois; while spending a day in Amish country. While this part of the country is not known for “leaf-peeping” tours, fall brings on its own special feeling to Illinois Amish Country: hand shocked corn fields, apples and fresh cider shops, crowded pumpkin patches, fall gift shops and smoky chimneys. We will begin our trip with shopping on Vine Street in Arthur, which features a variety of traditional Amish merchants. We’ll then tour the countryside and learn the history of Arthur and the Amish. The tour will include stops at Amish country shops along the route. Learn interesting facts about the Amish life style and visit their cottage businesses. Next we’ll enjoy a home cooked meal at an Amish home. The traditional Amish Sunday meal includes; homemade bread, salad, fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, noodles or dressing, vegetable, pie, and a drink. After lunch, enjoy a tour of the Amish farm with your guide and Amish host and learn about Amish farm life. Last, we’ll visit the Great Pumpkin Patch, which includes a bakery, gift shop, snack shop, mazes, fall displays, hundreds of varieties of gourds and squash, fields of pumpkins, mums and farm animals. It has been featured on Martha Stewart’s television show and numerous national magazines. Then we will return to downtown Arthur for a little more shopping before we depart for St. Louis.
