Vol 2. No 25 March 22, 2016 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Rotary Internaonal’s new logo as recently announced by RI will be rolling out in the months to come. Keep an eye out for it on the web, in The Rotarian magazine, and other aspects of public markeng and exposure. As decided last week, in order to or- ganize a Rotarians at Work Day I asked Tom Thompson what help he would need at the Interfaith Food Bank of Amador that could be provided by Ro- tarians. We will have our Rotarians at Work Day on April 26 our regular meeting day and only 24 hours later than the official Rotarians at Work Day. The Food Bank has an annual need for weed control around the building and property. This is important for pest management and would cost the Food Bank around $ 800 if done by a professional landscape service. So our club members can offer an effective contribution to the Food Bank doing the clean-up work, not so different from our Adopt-a-Highway project. After the work Tom proposes to have a BBQ , certainly a complimentary attraction, we also can consider a simple potluck. Besides the Food Bank needs on a regular basis weekend route drivers for pick up on Saturdays and occasionally on Sundays. The route starts at approximately 8 or 8:30 am. Drive to the local grocery stores, pick up food and return to the Food Bank, unload and be done by 10:30. Is anyone willing to set up a group to rotate (as good Rotarians!) or be on call for one of the weekend days as needed. The sign-up sheet will circulate. The Share our Success project is almost done, thanks to the excellent reports of Ron Floyd, Art Long and Rick Sprenkel, I have the required forms of 10 pro- jects ready. Still need a detailed description of the Destruction Derby, one of our main fund raising, as well as pictures from the Dictionary Project and Scholarship projects if available and the report about our Interact club. We will have to let the District know how many of our Interactors will go to the District Conference in Reno, they can provide lodging for the kids with lo- cal Rotarians. Irene would like you to know that she will have invite cards for our 4-clubs Meet Ro- tary Open House at Thomi’s on April 6 at 6:30 pm.She would like our members to distribute cards and not forget to bring a friend or neighbor to the mixer who could be a prospecve Rotarian.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Rotary International’s

new logo as recently

announced by RI will

be rolling out in the

months to come.

Keep an eye out for it on the web, in The Rotarian magazine, and

other aspects of public marketing and exposure.

As decided last week, in order to or-ganize a Rotarians at Work Day I asked Tom Thompson what help he would need at the Interfaith Food Bank of Amador that could be provided by Ro-tarians. We will have our Rotarians at Work Day on April 26 our regular meeting day and only 24 hours later than the

official Rotarians at Work Day.

The Share our Success project is almost done, thanks to the excellent reports of Ron Floyd, Art Long and Rick Sprenkel, I have the required forms of 10 pro-jects ready. Still need a detailed description of the Destruction Derby, one of our main fund raising, as well as pictures from the Dictionary Project and Scholarship projects if available and the report about our Interact club. We will have to let the District know how many of our Interactors will go to the District Conference in Reno, they can provide lodging for the kids with lo-cal Rotarians.

Irene would like you to know that she will have invite cards for our 4-clubs Meet Ro-tary Open House at Thomi’s on April 6 at 6:30 pm.She would like our members to distribute cards and not forget to bring a friend or neighbor to the mixer who could be a prospective Rotarian.

In an effort to bring new life and excitement to the

Jackson Rotary Club’s fund raising for 2016, the

board approved a new raffle that would replace the

Reverse Raffle and hopefully make up for the for-

mer Mother’s Day Breakfast event. This raffle is

being called the Aloha Raffle. Tickets sell for only

$50 each or three for $100. Tickets are available for

purchase through the end of July 2016. The drawing

will be held at our regular club meeting on August 2,

2016. The grand prize is a round trip for two to

Maui, seven nights of hotel accommodations, car

rental and $500 spending money. Grand prize win-

ner has the option to take a $3500.00 cash prize in

lieu of the afore mentioned trip to Maui. Second

Prize is $1000.00 in cash and third prize is $500.00

ALOHA RAFFLE

in cash. Not bad for only a $50 donation, eh?

Contact Ron Floyd for details. He will be contacting all

club members who will be asked to sell as many tickets as

possible before the August 1st deadline.

TRIVIA CHALLENGE 2016

Kudos to Chairman Art Long and his hard working committee who raised about

$3000.00 in the club’s first Trivia Challenge event. Held on Saturday March 12th, it

was a grand effort by many club members and Interact members.

The monies raised will be used sending kids to Camp RYLA this summer.

The success of this new event has everyone looking forward to Trivia Challenge 2017

which will be held on March 11th, 2017 at the Sutter Creek auditorium. So save the

date for more trivia fun next year!

More photos of the Trivia Challenge can be seen on our club’s web site
