All KindaNotesA group of 48 members, family andfriends gathered at the Chateau Nova
for the Appreciation and Variety Night. Good food, good fellowship and good fun. For a while it lookedlike the magician made himself disappear, however hedid appear just before 9 pm and entertained those whoremained. You know we must getting old when peo-ple leave an event at 8:30 pm so they don’t miss theirbedtime!!
Congratulations to $1000 Scholarship recipient LucasPagee. Lucas is the grandson of Dave and LornaPagee. He ably thanked the Club and his grandparentsfor enabling him to receive this gift to help with hisongoing studies.
I was totally surprised, yet greatly honored when PastPresident Sylvia Herman announced my name andpresented me with the Roses For The Living Award. Iwant to thank Sylvia, the Board of Directors and who-ever else was involved in submitting my name for thisprestigious award. Thank You.
Gift Certificate door prizes were won by Sylvia Her-man, Marian Melnyk, Ria Carlson, Brenda Dool, EricCarlson and Greg Pagee. The 50/50 draw of $87 waswon by Myrt Ferrier. Congratulations all!
The magician engaged the audience in his magic showand although some of his antics confounded us, hemade it look simple. By the way Ivor, do you alwayscarry a spare pair of - - - - - - - in your pocket???
Mike Lynch and Louise Bennett announced that theywould again be selling Purdy’s Chocolates for theEdmonettes, with proceeds going to Camp He Ho Ha.They handed out order forms.to those who were there.

Remembering Wes
We would like to thank all our Brothers and Sisters in ACT/UCT for the kind condolence cards, phone calls and prayers ofsupport.
It warmed our hearts to see so many members attending the Memorial Service and Celebration of Wes’s life.
While this continues to be a difficult and painful time, your many kindnesses over the last few weeks gives us the strengthand courage to move forward
Thank you for your donations to Camp He Ho Ha and the Children’s Ability Fund. These gifts were very much appreciated.
Sincerest regards,
Sylvia Herman and family
Dear Lil:
Please accept my tardiness in acknowledging the 50 year Plaque which I received some time ago from the A-C-T/UCT.
We regret that May and I have been unable to attend any of your many functions, as we seldom get to Edmonton anymore.
We were honored to be chosen to accompany the Prime Minister, the Minister of Veterans Affairs and the Defence Ministerto the 70th Liberation of the Netherlands earlier this year. It was a most memorable event. Along with all the tributes tothe Canadian Forces, we were presented to HRH Princess Margarette of the Netherlands. Our thanks go out to the VeteransAffairs Canada for doing a superb job in looking after us.
We enjoy your Newsletter and it helps us to keep in touch to a very important part of our life. You can e-mail all futureNewsletters to: [email protected]
Our best regards to all our old friends and hello to all the younger members.
Yours truly,
Harry LCol. (Ret'd) J.H. Quarton

Good evening. I am Lucas Pagee, the grandson of Davidand Lorna Pagee.
In June of this year, I graduated from St. Francis XavierHigh School. While attending FX, I was able to accom-plish honors for all 3 years and I’m looking forward tocontinuing this at MacEwan University.
On September 9th I became a full time student at MacE-wan. I am currently enrolled in a four-year business pro-gram and will earn a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in2019. The scholarship I am receiving today will be usedtowards my tuition and books.
I would like to thank my grandpa, David Pagee, for help-ing me get this scholarship. Without his hard work anddedication to A.C.T., which has been for the past 42years, I would not have been eligible for this award. Hehas also set a fine example for our whole family on howimportant volunteering is.
Finally, I would like to thank A.C.T. and all of its mem-bers for providing students with the opportunity to receivethese scholarships. Without scholarships such as these, many students would not be able to continue their educa-tion past high school. I am very grateful for my grandpaand the opportunity he has provided me with.
Thank you.
Lucas Pagee

‘CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS’
Running Room and Easter Seals Alberta are delighted to be once again working together to host the ‘32nd Annual FallClassic’ (8 km and 16 km) on Sunday, October 11th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (approximately-when race ends). Be apart of the 2015 Running Room Fall Classic and volunteer today! This fundraising event is in support of Easter Sealsand funds raised will help Albertans with disabilities and medical conditions (www.easterseals.ab.ca).
This exciting event will begin with check in inside the Beverly Height Community Hall (4209 111 Avenue) for all par-ticipants. Easter Seals is responsible for getting all the volunteers for the race. There is a need for many volunteers alongthe route, at the finish line, and package pick-up. Your volunteerism will include a complimentary short sleeve cottonunisex shirt (picked up prior or at the Community Hall on race day), a ‘volunteer meal ticket’ for a pancake and sausagebreakfast with fruit and yogurt after the race, and the opportunity to cheer on 500 dedicated participants at this year’sFall Classic. Below are the volunteer descriptions and the numbers for each position so to ensure an enjoyable race ishad by all.
Course Marshals (7:45 am – 11:30 am) - The course marshals are along the route to direct participants so they don’tget lost, and to cheer them on and give them the encouragement that will help them through the event. Marshals alsolook out for any participants who may be having difficulties along the way and making sure they get some help. Bringalong a lawn chair, some noise makers, and maybe a book to read before the runners get to your location. Course mar-shals should be at their designated location no later than 7:45 am and parking is allowed as close as possible to your as-signed location (17 ‘musts’ and 26 ‘wanted’ for a total of 43 volunteers required).
Water Station (7:45 am – 11:30 am) – This is a fun high energy place as you offer runners water or Gatorade, and en-courage them in their run (13 volunteers required).
Package Pick-up (October 8th to October 10th) - This takes place at the Running Room located at 8537 - 109 Street, and volunteers will greet and provide the participants with their running packages. The date and times for package pick-up are as follows:
Saturday, October 10th (10am – 5pm - 1 needed)
Please contact me either by email ([email protected]) or phone 780.429.0137, Ext 307 to confirm your involvementby Friday, October 2nd. Please note that we need 50+ volunteers, so feel free to invite your friends and family to volun-teer with you. We truly hope that we can count on you!!!!
