Rtn DG Manjunath Shey declared that Team Resolute’s GOV Report was comprehensive and RBSW’s performance of the last 6 months, was outstanding. He was highly appreciave of RBSW’s bookkeeping & payment records, found with exemplary transparency. I sincerely thank all the Board members who helped me work on it and put together the GOV report in me. The hard work of all those, is clearly evident from what one could see in the exhausve report and the events of the day as they unfolded. I am sure all the members of Team Resolute will keep up the good work and connue to serve the needy beer. Rtn Murali Du G K, President Events, Programs & Projects: 6th January, 2015, 28th Weekly Meeng, Speaker Meet, Dr N Anantharaman, MD in Ayurveda, an affable Ayurvedic Doctor with 42 years experience, made an illuminang presentaon on “Secret of Good Health”. He started his presentaon with a solemn prayer in Sanskrit, to Lord Dhanavantari, a Hindu tradional Avatar of Lord Vishnu, God of Ayurvedic medicine, followed by stang the meaning and significance of the prayer. His day-to-day life ps and advice on how to make simple concocons that could benefit SouthWestars to stay healthy, was very enlightening. Several SouthWestars felt encouraged to enquire with Dr Ananthraman on remedies for common complaints, such as, Migraine, Back pain, Knee pain, Sleeplessness, etc. to which he readily gave his advice on making effecve concocons that could benefit them in overcoming the common ailments. President’s Message

Dear Southwestars, I am delighted to inform all Southwestars that GOV went off very well. Rtn DG Manjunath Shetty declared that Team Resolute’s GOV Report was comprehensive and RBSW’s performance of the last 6 months, was outstanding. He was highly appreciative of RBSW’s bookkeeping & payment records, found with exemplary transparency. I sincerely thank

all the Board members who helped me work on it and put together the GOV report in time. The hard work of all those, is clearly evident from what one could see in the exhaustive report and the events of the day as they unfolded. I am sure all the members of Team Resolute will keep up the good work and continue to serve the needy better.

Events, Programs & Projects:

6th January, 2015, 28th Weekly Meeting, Speaker Meet, Dr N Anantharaman, MD in Ayurveda, an affable Ayurvedic Doctor with 42 years experience, made an illuminating presentation on “Secret of Good Health”. He started his presentation with a solemn prayer in Sanskrit, to Lord Dhanavantari, a Hindu traditional Avatar of Lord Vishnu, God of Ayurvedic medicine, followed by stating the meaning and significance of the prayer. His day-to-day life tips and advice on how to make simple concoctions that could benefit SouthWestars to stay healthy, was very enlightening. Several SouthWestars felt encouraged to enquire with Dr Ananthraman on remedies for common complaints, such as, Migraine, Back pain, Knee pain, Sleeplessness, etc. to which he readily gave his advice on making effective concoctions that could benefit them in overcoming the common ailments. Many noted down his advice.

13th January, 2014, Official Visit of the Governor, was held at Hotel Bangalore International, Bangalore. As per the decision of Team Resolute, SouthWestar Rtns, Charter Member PP T Sriram, Charter Member, Dr K Gnanamurthy, Dr Ashok Amin, Dr P Sriram, PP Dr C V Venkatachallam, PP K N Chendra Shekher, PP Capt. V P Iyer and PP K Chandra Babu were felicitated with a Citation plaque for their service par excellence and contribution to Rotary Movement for over 25 years. Rtn PP P C Ray could not be felicitated in person, due to unavoidable circumstances.

Rtn PP Dr Sameer Hariani with his usual inimitable style, spoke of the senior Rotarians who were facilitated by Rtn DG Manjunath Shetty.

Major Second Level Donors, Rtn PP Dr Sameer Hariani and Rtn PP Vijay Tadimalla were recognized and honored by Rtn DG Manjunath Shetty for their commitment and continued generous support to Rotary Foundation.

Rtn PE V Shashikant Pobbathi introduced Smt Sheela Subramaniam and she was formally inducted as the latest SouthWestar, by First Lady, Ann Shailaja Shetty.

Rtns, PP Dr Sameer Hariani, PP Anup Agarwal, PP Vijay Tadimalla, E P Venkatesh, PP Murali Dutt, Ann Geeta Dutt and Arun Adkoli were recognized

by Rtn DG Manjunath Shetty for their PHF commitments in this year, ie. 5 by Dr Sameer Hariani and 1 each by others.

Rtns, VP Amarchand Rander, Secretary Eragam P Venkatesh, PP Anup Agarwal, Club Service Director Rahul Goyal, Sreenath B M, PE Shashikant V Pobbathi, SE Pruthvi Rao, Nilesh V Sheth, Treasurer K Chandra Babu and Capt. V P Iyer were recognized for having made a donation of $.100 each to the Rotary Foundation. Rtn Dayanand U R was recognized for becoming a Sustaining Member of Rotary Foundation and was decorated with a PHF Pin, by Rtn PDG Badri Prasad R.

Rtn PP K N Vasuki, with his usual candor, paid glowing tribute to the Projects Review & Evaluation and Public Relations Chairman, Rtn B N Krishnamurthy, for his invaluable work and, being a robust pillar of support to RBSW, year after year.

Rtn AG N T Sagar released SouthWestar bulletin, Volume 34, Issue 5, “GOV” Special Edition”. The bulletin particularly highlighted “Jeevan Dhaare” Filtered Water Project at Poleramma School, Julapalaya and 34th Charternite Celebrations.

As a mark of respect and in appreciation of their valuable time spent with SouthWestars, mementos were presented to Rtns, District Governor Manjunath Shetty, Assistant Governor N T Sagar, District Secretary Suresh Ambli.

Mr Bhupat Shah, of The Bangalore Surgical Company, handed over to Rtn PP K N Vasuki, a Cheque for a very generous amount, in support of some of the key projects of RBSW. His gesture was well appreciated by all.

Finally, at the close of the GOV, Rtn DG Manjunath Shetty made a very passionate speech in which he reemphasized on Rotary International President, Rtn Gary Huang’s two focus areas for 2014-15, one, Rotary Membership

Development and two, Contributions to Rotary Foundation. These are to increase Rotary’s reach in over 200 countries, where Rotary already has strong presence and that, Rotarians could enhance it even more. He did draw Rotarians’ attention that, to be able to secure funds for their community service projects from Rotary Foundation, as many members of Rotary District 3190 need to support Rotary Foundation. He quoted: “To be able to take some we should be willing to give some”.

18TH January, 2015, Pulse Polio National Immunization Day program was launched at Urban Family Welfare Centre, Banashankari Referral Hospital, Banashankari, 2nd Stage, (commonly knows as “BBMP Hospital, Banashankari”)Bangalore. Mr S Rajshekar, ANM/JHA, coordinated the program. Large number of health assistants and trainee nurses who had assembled at the centre and deployed at various Pulse Polio booths in batches, were transported by enthusiastic SouthWestars. Bangalore SouthWest Inner Wheel President, Mrs Srimathi Master and Committee Member, Mrs Nirmala Raghu, joined hands with SouthWestars. Coincidentally, the first two children who came in to take the PolioPlus vaccine were Ira and Ila Pruthvi Raos. Annet Vivaan Rahul Goyal didn’t want to be left out and came forward to take the PolioPlus vaccine as well.

23rd January, 2015, inauguration and Installation of office bearers of the District’s 6th and new Rotaract Club of RVTI for Women, sponsored by RBSW, was conducted by Rtn Adeshwar Mehta, District Rotaract Representative. The function was presided over by Asst. Director & Principal, K N Somashekaraiah of RVTI.

24th & 25th January, 2015, the first ever outstation RBSW Board Meeting successfully conducted, was held at Eka Resorts, State Highway 107, Hallibyle Village, Sakleshpur District. It was recommended by Rtns. Dayanand U R and Vijay Tadimalla with all requisite arrangements and, hosted by Rtns, Sailesh S Sheth and Nilesh Sheth. 17 members including Rtns, Charter Member PP T Sriram and PP P C Ray attended the meeting.

27th January 2015, Ann Chayya Sheth, a professionally qualified Trainer, conducted a mentoring session to help the students of RVTI, to overcome exam fear and develop positive mental attitude.

29th January, 2015, 20th Weekly Meeting, Speaker Meet, was held at Manandi Samskruti Sadana, Jayanagar 5th Block. Dr Shobha Mangoli, Clinical Psychologist, Coach and Counselor, Founder and Chief Executive of Sukrut Human & Organization Consultants Pvt Ltd., Bangalore. She made an impressive and captivating presentation on “Exams – Effect on Parents”.

The function was followed by the club’s 1st

community service project, Blood Donation Camp.

While at it, a person wearing wrap around spectacles, pleasantly surprised the Southwestars when he came forward and thanked RBSW. He was the one-eyed electrician whose retina had got detached in his good eye and RBSW had cosponsored his corrective surgery.

Key Board Decisions - 6th Board Meeting

RBSW shall support as much as 50 District Raffle Tickets. The remaining 50 tickets if not being sold, may be returned, as contributions to PHF & Rotary Foundation are not considered mandatory.

CASCO - Season 2, shall be launched at the Charternite.

One of the joint Board Meetings or Board Meeting shall be held outside of Bangalore, preferably in January, 2015.

FCRA Donations of other clubs shall not be received and routed through RBSW’s FC account.

Board Meetings shall henceforth be held on 4th Thursday of every month.

SouthWeStar Performers - Members, Anns & Annets

Krisha Shashank Ambe, daughter of Annet Mrs Anupama Shashank Ambe and granddaughter of Rtn Ramesh Bhat, won Gold Medal in “Friendship Games”, interschool sports competition, held at St Johns’ Sports Complex on 23rd January, 2015, sponsored by Head Start Montessori, in 4x100 Mtrs. relay for students under 8.

Membership Development, Update & Status

Smt Sheela Subramaniam, introduced by Rt. PE Shashikant V Pobbathi, was formally inducted as a SouthWestar at the GOV, held on 13th January, 2015. Membership stands at 52, as of January, 2014. Efforts are being continued to increase membership and it is expected to be increased shortly.
