PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
It would seem that spring has arrived, just in time for this year’s early Easter. Spring is in the air as they say. On the Montreal City side, plans and work continue full throttle as the city prepares to celebrate 375 days of festivities.
MCW is also caught up in special events such as our last monthly meeting. It was not our usual guest speaker format but rather an evening event where everyone met after a light supper and formed teams to answer a series of quiz questions related to Canada and its history. Something a little different and special but also fun and informative that was enjoyed by all.
Our Annual General meeting, our last meeting of the year, will be held on May 18th at our usual meeting time. And because the silent auction was so popular and successful last year, we plan to do it again; so don’t forget to bring some extra cash, you never know what treasures you might fine.
Nationally, the NCWC 124th Annual General Meeting will be held in Ottawa this year, which makes it rather quite convenient for those of us here in the East. It will run from June 22 to 24, 2017. NCWC will also be celebrating Canada’s 150th Anniversary while at the same time they will be hosts to the International Council of Women Board (ICW). More information to follow in a brief notice. - Shirley Gyles - President
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING and SILENT AUCTION

April 6 MCW Meeting: a historical quiz and lots of fun! Thank you to all who attended our last meeting on April 6. Due to some technical difficulties, the screening of the documentary ‘Quilt of belonging’ had to be cancelled. However, it is available online. Here is the link if you want to watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsiE2ruW0d8. Still the evening turned out to be very entertaining and informative as the guests were invited to take part in a historical quiz to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary while enjoying some delicious Canadian food. If you were unable to attend and are interested in testing your knowledge on the history of our great country, here is the quiz that was presented during our April 6 meeting. Have fun.
