BIOGRAPHY DAVID JANOW, CEO David J. Janow, Chief Executive Officer and President of Growing Naturals®, LLC, Axiom Foods®, Inc., and Simply Rice™, is a leading global authority on plant ingredient manufacturing, and is best known for devel-oping Oryzatein ®, the industry standard for chemical-free whole grain brown rice protein. His opinion and knowledge base has been sought by the FDA, USDA and in international forums such as Health Ingredients Europe and the American Food Technology & Innovation Summit. David’s traditional education includes a B.S. in Biology and Psychology, a JD, an MBA, plus a Masters in Law, followed by practicing law and then getting into commodities, which is where the ideas started to flow. After designing and setting rice ingredient manufacturing standards that are still followed today, he became solely focused on the untapped possibilities of organic whole grain brown rice fractions. Founded in 2005, David’s greatest success to date is Los Angeles-based Axiom Foods, which manufac-tures plant-based food, beverage, and nutraceutical ingredients. Axiom has been growing over 100% each year thanks to Oryzatein® whole grain brown rice protein concentrates and isolates, as it expands into an extensive range of additional rice fractions, plant proteins, plus new superfood fractions. Recent accomplishments include Oryzatein® brown rice protein being the first GRAS affirmed and pa-tented rice protein – leading to it soon being the USP monographed standard for the industry, having the products chosen for a series of clinical trials to help show the benefits of plant based ingredients, being a founding member of the World Rice Alliance sourcing pristine crops around the world, innovative product development including Oryzatein SG the first multi-functional solution-grade rice protein series, Avenolait Oat Milk, VegOtein P™ Pea Protein and Incatein™ Sacha Inchi Protein, plus establishing increased qual-ity standards as he expands throughout Europe, Canada, South America and Australia/New Zealand. David remains dedicated to proprietary research and hexane-free, natural processing methods, with the ultimate goal of helping food, beverage, household cleaning, cosmetic and nutraceutical products world-wide become more inclusive by using allergen-friendly plant ingredients. While he continues to invest in time and money, David will always let nature and his customers guide his direction.

GROWING NATURALS‘ PLANT PROTEINS SPROUT FROM STRAWBERRY FIELDS AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

WITH LAUNCH OF VERY BERRY RICE AND YUMMY CHOCOLATE PEA PROTEIN New SKUs Debut at Expo East, Booth #8721

(Los Angeles, August 27, 2015) – Growing Naturals, the only maker of single-plant rice, pea (and soon

hemp) proteins has just taken natural plant protein flavor to a new level by adding the only berry-licious

strawberry rice protein on the market and a super chocolaty pea protein to its lines. Both new selections

will became available on retail shelves this summer. Growing Naturals’ rice protein features Oryzatein®,

the only plant protein that equals animal-based protein in building and maintaining muscle as shown in a

clinical trial. Growing Naturals’ products are available in most major health food retailers throughout the

U.S.

In a world full of protein powders that are blended formulations with a lot more than just protein in

them, Growing Naturals is a pioneer in offering up a single-plant source; a highly prized pure product similar

to a single-vineyard wine. Because it is easier to add ingredients than to take them out, Growing Naturals

developed these pure plant proteins to provide choices for those who may have allergies or intolerances to

certain ingredients. The strawberry rice adds to a line of original, vanilla and chocolate selections and the

chocolate is an addition to the original and vanilla flavors of pea protein. Growing Naturals now offers a

Neapolitan-flavored line that can be mixed and matched into endless combinations of unadulterated plant

protein boosts.

Growing Naturals is empowering the consumer, nutritionists and athletes to get exactly what they

need into their body in its cleanest form. “Plants are not created equal in terms of how much protein can be

concentrated from each,” said in-house dietitian Scarlett Blandon, MS, RDN. “Rice features 80-90%, pea

80% and hemp only 50% protein. Also, their amino acid profiles differ, so protein supplements should be

rotated for optimum health.”

“We took extra time to get these new and exciting flavors right,” said CEO David Janow “this single

plant concept opens up opportunities to cook with protein powder, making most any meal or treat high

protein morning, noon and night. That’s why our plant protein powder recipe database at GNrecipes.com

is taking off.”

Growing Naturals, LLC is the maker of both organic single-source plant-based protein powders and

Simply SoapBerry™ a line of pristinely green household cleaners starting with laundry soap fashioned of

saponins derived from organic soapberries harvested in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains.

GROWING NATURALS’ RICE PROTEIN POSTS BIKINI PREP CHALLENGE

Sweepstakes To Win Apple® Google® Virtual Reality Elliptical and Giveaways At SummerWeightChallenge.Com

(Los Angeles, CA, May 1, 2015) – As bikini prep season dawns and Americans start to think about baring

their bodies in the sun, premier rice and pea protein manufacturer, Growing Naturals is on a mission to

quell fears of having to lose weight with a refocus on gaining muscle instead. According to the American

Council on Exercise, 1 pound of muscle burns 7 to 10 calories per day, while 1 pound of fat burns only 2 to

3 calories. On a mission to help Americans add more muscle to burn fat faster, Growing Naturals is offering

a chance to win a FreeMotionTM USA virtual reality elliptical powered by Apple®, Google® and iFit®

with the issuance of the 2015 Growing Naturals Summer Fit Challenge at GNFitChallenge.com. As

being fit can mean something different to different people, an assortment of fitness-related prizes, such

as an Apple Watch and NutriBullet will also be awarded monthly to participants who share their goals,

workouts, recipes, words of encouragement and videos that are helping them to create summer svelte on

their social media pages using the hashtag #GNFitChallenge. Posting is necessary. Entry is only necessary

to win. The challenge runs May 1, 2015 through August, 31, 2015.

The promotion falls on the heels of two clinical trials, which for the first time, showed that plant

protein (specifically Oryzatein® brown rice protein in Growing Naturals) is just as effective in building and

maintaining muscle as animal-based whey protein, plus a key muscle-building amino acid is absorbed faster

from rice protein than whey protein.

Byron J. Richards, board-certified clinical nutritionist explains: “Your metabolism can increase by

30% for as long as 12 hours from a high-protein meal; the calorie-burning equivalent of a two-to-three-mile

jog. A high-carbohydrate [meal] …does not enhance metabolic rate more than 4%, especially when eaten

with little protein.” Sports-medicine guru Jim Stoppani, PhD, has noted that numerous contemporary studies

show that individuals on high-protein/low-carb regimens, even when fat intake was overly high, tend to lose

more fat and maintain or gain more muscle mass than individuals who relied on higher-carb diets. Interest-

ingly, many of these studies show that this weight loss was accomplished in many cases without working

out, but by simply eating more protein.

Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Los Angeles, CA Growing Naturals, LLC is the maker of

pure plant-based ingredients, specializing in protein powders for all people, plus Simply SoapBerry™ a line

of laundry soaps derived from organic soapberries harvested in the Himalayan Mountains.

(Culver City, CA, March 5, 2014) – Today, Growing Naturals brown rice protein

powder, which features the patent-pending 90% whole grain brown rice protein

isolate ingredient Oryzatein® supplied by Axiom Foods®, was named a finalist in

the 2014 NutrAwards during Nutracon at the Natural Products Expo in Anaheim,

California. The award program, created fifteen years ago, rewards and recog-

nizes companies that are investing in rigorous and measurable scientific studies

to show the efficacy of their proprietary ingredients, products or technologies. Finalists and winners are

based on a weighted vote of industry experts, scientists and nutritionists, as well as by cumulative votes of

registered Engredea and Nutracon attendees.

“We chose to use Axiom Food’s Oryzatein® ingredient,” said CEO of Growing Naturals, David

Janow, “because it is the only 90% brown rice protein isolate that is made with a proprietary enzyme frac-

tioning method and was shown in a clinical trial for the first time to equal animal-based whey protein in

building and maintaining muscle.”

Founded in 2009, Growing Naturals is dedicated to researching and developing premium natu-

rally beneficial, non-GMO, allergen-friendly, plant-based food, beverage and household products that can

be consumed by the 10’s of millions of people who make conscious choices about what goes in and on

their body. Signature products include the first chemical-free brown rice protein powder featuring Axiom

Foods’ Oryzatein, powdered dairy milk substitute, raw pea protein, and Simply SoapBerry™ Free & Clear

laundry detergents. Products are available in over 1,500 US retail locations, approximately ten countries,

and at GrowingNaturals.com.

GROWING NATURALS EXPANDS PLANT PROTEIN LINES TO INCLUDE STRAWBERRY RICE, CHOCOLATE PEA AND SOON

HEMP PROTEINS Same Product Sales Grow 98% in 2014 vs Prior Year

(Culver City, CA, March 2015) — On the heels of announcing 98% growth in 2014 same product sales,

Growing Naturals, the premier maker of pure plant protein powders, is debuting its expanded product line

at Natural Products Expo West 2015. The new lines include a Strawberry Brown Rice protein powder

featuring the patent-pending, clinically studied Oryzatein® brown rice protein 90% isolate and a Chocolate

Pea Protein, each expanding existing plant protein lines and on shelves May 2015. Growing Naturals will

also be announcing its very first pure hemp protein powders in original, vanilla and strawberry as well —

due to launch by December 2016. The new strawberry rice and chocolate pea flavors can be tasted for

the first time at Growing Naturals’ Natural Products Expo West Booth #705 in Hall A from Friday, March 6

through Sunday, March 8, 2015.

“Since we started in 2010, we’ve been focusing a lot of energy on developing our distribution

position of the only pure, non-blended pea and brown rice proteins, featuring the patent-pending

Oryzatein protein,” said CEO, David Janow. “To date, the initial protein powders are in over 2000 health

food and grocery retailers throughout the U.S., with Vitamin World being the latest chain to pick us up.

We are now shifting focus to the expansion of existing shelf presence by adding new flavor profiles and

new plant protein sources — starting with the highly sought after hemp protein.”

Hemp protein was chosen as the third protein source because of its multiple nutritional benefits,

including fiber, omegas 3 and 6, and magnesium, among many others. It will initially be available in four

(4) flavors in an introductory 1 lb. size only, while the others will be available in 1 lb., 2 lb., and single

serve sachets. While most protein sources retail for close to the same price the strawberry rice will be the

highest priced SKU due to the high cost of natural strawberry flavoring and the highly concentrated 90%

rice protein. While the rice features 24g of protein per serving, the pea and hemp proteins offer fewer

grams of protein but more additional natural benefits per serving.

Growing Naturals are makers of the clinical study-based, pure plant-based protein powders used

for general and sports nutrition, and a line of pristinely green household cleaners, starting with laundry

detergent fashioned of saponins derived from organic soapberries harvested in the foothills of the

Himalayan Mountains

NEW STUDY SHOWS MUSCLE-BUILDING LEUCINE AMINO ACID ABSORBS FASTER IN GROWING NATURALS’™

ORYZATEIN® BROWN RICE PROTEIN THAN IN ANIMAL-BASED WHEY Clinical Trials Shatter Beliefs about Animal-Only Protein for Bodybuilders

(Culver City, CA November 2014) – A third-party, double-blind, crossover study at the University of

Tampa, has shown that leucine (key amino acid to activate muscle building), was absorbed faster from

Growing Naturals brown rice protein, made with Oryzatein®, than leucine from animal-based whey protein.

This was a unique finding considering leucine levels are slightly lower in rice protein versus whey protein.

The study also found that amino acids in Growing Naturals™ brown rice protein are highly bio-available

and are non-statistically different from whey protein in trained athletes. Because amino acids from rice

protein appear slower in the bloodstream over time than whey, this study may provide bodybuilders and

other athletes with a plant-based protein to enhance their performance and body composition over a longer

period of time. The study was published in the Journal of Nutrition and Health Sciences.

The study comes on the heels of a 2013 clinical trial that showed Growing Naturals® brown rice

protein paralleled whey protein in its ability to build muscle and improve strength and power for the first

time. Both studies are shattering long held beliefs that animal-only proteins are needed for superior athletic

performance as it relates to muscle gain and performance. The brown rice protein used in both studies is

the patent-pending and GRAS affirmed Oryzatein® made by Axiom Foods and featured in Growing Naturals

rice protein.

“The benefits of this study show a prolonged delivery of amino acids to the blood and muscles,”

said CEO of Growing Naturals, David Janow. “This means that rice protein can aid in athletic performance

in a way that was formerly thought only possible with animal proteins, despite leucine levels being slightly

lower in rice protein.”

Growing Naturals are makers of the clinical study-based, pure plant-based protein powders used

for general and sports nutrition, and a line of pristinely green household cleaners, starting with laundry

detergent fashioned of saponins derived from organic soapberries harvested in the foothills of the

Himalayan Mountains.

REVEALING MYTHS AND FACTS ABOUT HOLIDAY WEIGHT GAIN, GROWING NATURALS LAUNCHES “WINTER WEIGHT CHALLENGE” TO EDUCATE ON

SATIATION PROPERTIES OF PROTEIN Enter to Win Yoga Works Membership and Rice and Pea Protein

(Culver City, CA, November 27, 2013) – On the eve of the biggest gastronomic pleasure season of the

year, Growing Naturals, makers of allergen-friendly rice and pea protein, are proclaiming both good and

bad news: significant holiday weight gain is a myth, but for those already overweight (Body Mass Index

25-29%) and obese (BMI + 30%), holiday binging will adversely affect their waistline more than those who

are an average weight. In an effort to educate Americans about how protein helps to maintain weight

through holiday indulging, Growing Naturals has launched the “Winter Weight Challenge;” which is a

chance to win a free membership at Yoga Works* and free rice and pea protein. By simply registering at

Growing Naturals, each entrant will receive an automatic 40% discount on any Growing Naturals protein.

“We’re on a mission to teach that if you ‘pre-fill’ with protein before holiday indulgences, it gives

the feeling of fullness that lasts through the buffet line and dessert,” said CEO, Growing Naturals, David

Janow. “Every study on holiday weight gain has debunked the dreaded scares of 7-10 pound upticks in

weight. The average American gains 1.5 pounds a year, but because they don’t lose that same amount

in the beginning of the next, it adds up. It’s easier to never gain weight, than it is to take it off.”

Starting this week, contestants can enter here and winners will be announced on the Growing

Naturals website on January 1, 2014. The Yoga Works memberships can be used in any of the 27 stu-

dios throughout the US. Entering the “Winter Weight Challenge” provides entrants with a weekly eating tip

email from leading dietitians, professional trainers and nutritionists. Until December 31, 2013, Growing

Naturals is also offering weekly challenges, upon entering that gives a chance for 10 people to win 1

pound of protein.

Now for a list of myths and facts:

Myth: a clinical study showed the average holiday weight gain is less than commonly asserted.

Since this gain is not reversed during the spring or summer months, the net 0.48-kg weight gain in

the fall and winter probably contributes to the increase in body weight that frequently occurs dur-

ing adulthood.

Fact: In research published in the journal Obesity, Heather Niemeier, PhD, found that the seed of

overeating lies within our emotions. Niemeier’s team found that people whose overeating is trig-

gered by emotions tend to have a harder time losing and maintaining weight. (JAMA).

Fact: The amount of weight gained over the holidays could depend on pre-holiday weight. Over-

weight and obese individuals tend to gain more weight during the holidays than those who begin

November at an average weight.

Fact: The Science Daily reported that political correctness affects caloric food choices for those in

social holiday situations. Average weight people will make healthier food choices in a buffet line

next to an obese person to make them feel more comfortable.

Myth: Forbes reported scary statistics about the average weight gain over the holidays, which is

often put between 7 and 10 pounds, though one study found that’s largely a myth.

FIRST DOUBLE BLIND STUDY PROVES GROWING NATURALS’ PLANT-BASED

RICE PROTEIN HAS IDENTICAL BENEFITS TO ANIMAL-BASED WHEY PROTEIN

Study Presented to Top Tier Sports Nutrition Peers at International Sports Society

of Sports Nutrition Conference June 14-15 in Colorado Springs, CO

(Culver City, CA, June 17, 2013) – The findings of a ground-breaking double blind study at the

University of Tampa showed for the first time that Oryzatein® plant-based brown rice protein has

identical benefits to dairy-based whey protein. The study results, which used Growing Naturals’

Organic Rice Protein made with Axiom Foods’ Oryzatein®, specifically followed a tightly

controlled population of seasoned bodybuilders and how they built muscle and experienced the

same rates of repair and soreness. The study was presented for the first time to the top tier of

sports nutrition peers at the International Society of Sports Nutrition’s 10th Annual Conference

on June 14-15, 2013. The study was published by the Nutrition Journal (6/19/13).

The study was presented by its co-author, Dr. Ralf Jaeger, FISSN, CISSN, MBA at

Antlers Hilton Colorado Springs hotel. The study researchers chose Oryzatein® for the study,

which has recently become a monographed industry standard for its many qualities, noted of

which is their unique hexane-free fractioning process used to isolate protein from whole grain

brown rice.

“In the past, studies have shown that the combination of resistance exercise with

consumption of animal-derived protein (such as whey, casein, eggs, meat) has had a different

effect on muscle growth than when resistance exercise was paired with plant-based protein

such soy,” said Dr. Jaeger. “The results of this study show, for the first time, this has changed.

The objective of the study, titled, ‘Rice Protein Increases Lean Body Mass, Muscle Hypertrophy,

Power and Strength Comparable to Whey Protein Following Resistance Exercise,’ was to

determine if high doses of rice protein isolate could increase recovery and elicit adequate

changes in body composition compared to whey protein isolate if given following periodized

resistance-training. In summary, we found that rice protein isolate administration post resistance

exercise decreases fat-mass and increases lean body mass, skeletal muscle hypertrophy,

power and strength comparable to whey protein isolate.”

For the study, Jaeger and his co-author, Dr. Jacob Wilson (University of Tampa,

Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance), used 24 healthy, college-aged,

resistance-trained participants. Each had a minimum of one year of strength training

Page 14: PRESS KIT - Growing NaturalsINDUSTRY DIFFERENTIATION: The manufacturer of the organic higher-concentrated rice protein isolates with less fillers and clinical-based trails to prove

experience. The participants were randomly and equally divided into two groups. Each group

consumed 48g of rice or whey protein isolate immediately following training on training days

only. Participants followed a specific training protocol three times a week for eight weeks under

direct supervision. The supplements contained equal amounts of calories and protein. Before

and after the first training session, participants gave ratings for perceived recovery, soreness

and readiness to train. At baseline (week 0), midway (week 4), and end (week 8) participants

were measured for muscle thickness, body composition, bench press and leg press strength.

Changes were measured and recorded.

Results showed there were no significant differences in the ratings between the groups

supplemented with rice versus whey for recovery. In other words, each supplement produced a

similar effect. Moreover, both groups experienced significant changes in body composition,

strength and power from week 0 to week 8. Specifically, muscle mass, strength, and power

increased while body fat decreased. The changes observed were similar for both groups. The

creator of Oryzatein® and world leading expert on the subject of rice protein fractioning, Mr.

David Janow will also appear at the conference with Dr. Jaeger.

David Janow, JD/MBA, CEO/President of Growing Naturals, creator of Oryzatein®, soon

to be the monographed industry standard for chemical free whole grain brown rice protein, said.

“Whey protein has been the gold standard of the fitness industry, but as of today, that may be

changing. Intolerance to lactose affects nearly 70% of the world’s population. Hormones used in

cow farming are passed on in larger concentrations through dairy products than through cow

meat. We’ve heard how hormones in cow milk are affecting early puberty. Soy protein is losing

popularity after learning about phytoestrogens. Allergen-free plant-based protein is now being

proven to rival whey protein.”

Growing Naturals, LLC is the maker of organic plant-based protein powders, milk-

substitute powders and sports nutrition, and Simply SoapBerry™ a line of pristinely green

household cleaners, starting with laundry soap fashioned of saponins derived from organic

soapberries harvested in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains.

GROWING NATURALS GAINS EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO

MOST PRISTINE RICE SOURCE IN THE WORLD, Signs Deal With Global Award-Winning Majesty Rice

(Culver City, CA, September 2014) – Growing Naturals, manufacturer of the only Brown Rice

Protein Isolate plus Pea Protein products on retail shelves, has reached an exclusive deal to

source rice from Cambodia’s Majesty Rice. Majesty Rice was globally recognized in 2012 and

2013 by The Rice Trader for producing the world’s highest quality jasmine rice from what are

considered to be the most pristine rice fields in the world.

The deal is indicative of Growing Naturals’ continued commitment to provide the most

healthful pure plant proteins, which to date, have always fallen under testing standards for

naturally occurring heavy metals. “This deal,” said CEO of Growing Naturals, David Janow,

“further decreases the levels, despite the fact they are found in the earth’s crust globally and are

intrinsic to all plants grown in healthy soils. As makers of human food, we are in a highly

responsible position and work closely with Mother Nature.”

Majesty Rice will begin to appear in Growing Naturals Rice Protein products in

approximately 8-10 months. Janow further stated, “Certifying bodies such as the FDA and

USDA watch what we do very closely and have come for intelligence on setting standards for

rice protein. Batch testing is a routine part of our daily business and the levels of heavy metals

have always been very low (Cadmium < 1.0 ppm, Lead < 0.25 ppm, Arsenic < 0.1 ppm, Mercury

< 0.05 ppm).” Rice used for protein manufacturing is carefully scrutinized and tested at the

lowest levels tests will allow because when the concentrated protein is fractioned out, the

naturally occurring heavy metal concentration can also increase. A higher standard is held to

rice used for brown rice protein because while heavy metal levels may read as “undetected” in

rice, that does not mean their levels are zero but rather that they are below the small levels the

test can detect.

Growing Naturals is the purest source for allergen-friendly, pure plant proteins and is

known for being used in third party clinical trials, including one showing Growing Naturals brown

rice protein is as good as whey protein isolate at building and repairing muscles. Since 2009,

the Arizona-based company has delivered pure plant proteins, rice milk powders, and now

Simply SoapBerryTM household cleaners. Their signature Rice Protein® is the only pure brown

rice protein isolate (90% protein concentrate) available to consumers.
