Code Mercenaries ships a USB to I2C dongle.

The IO-Warrior24 based dongle offers a simple andeasy to use solution to connect I2C devices via a USBport.

Connecting sensors, service interfaces, test and evaluation circuits and a lot moreapplications can be easily answered with the IOW24-DG I2C dongle.

The I2C master interface operates at 100 kHz and allows a throughput of up to750 bytes/s. Handshaking via clock stretching is supported as well as a pro-grammable timeout to prevent the dongle from hanging due to misbehaving sla-ves. A special mode to talk to Sensirion humidity sensors is available too.

The IOW24-DG dongle is available at Euro 25 (excl. VAT) and is shipped as a setconsisting of the assembled and tested PCB, a four wire cable and two partdongle case. The cable can be soldered to the dongle PCB, allowing flexible pi-nout to fit the customers application. 5 V and 3.3 V are also available to powersmall external circuits like sensors.

To allow compatibility with 3.3 V slaves the internal pull up resistors can be swit-ched off under software control. The dongle PCB has solder pads for pull up re-sistors and protection diodes to 3.3 V on the back side.

The mechanical dimensions of the IOW24-DG dongle are within the limits for aUSB standard plug. This prevents the dongle from blocking adjacent ports and al-lows multiple dongles to be used on a single computer or USB hub without losingports.

Since the dongle is based on a standard IO-Warrior24 chip the software and de-velopment tools for IO-Warrior are useable for the dongle as well. This makessupport for Linux, MacOS, and Windows as well as for many development sys-tems available. No specific drivers are required, the dongle works with standardsystem drivers.

Applications for the IO-Warrior universal USB I/O controllers are very diverse.Basically only the number of pins and the data rate limits the use of IO-Warrior. Itis used in laboratory setups, test equipment as well as in hobby projects or fullscale device production either as the core of a device or "just" the interface toUSB. IO-Warrior chips control robots and telescopes, do quality control onproduction lines, take measurements in labs, control switches and displays infront panels or simulator cockpits, or work as the USB interface in many kinds ofproducts.

SpinWarrior is a family of rotary encoder controllers with USB interface. Variousmodels allow from 3 to 6 encoders to be connected to the USB and are suitablefor motion control, measurement, or human interfacing applications.
