C Amen.

P   Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom

no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your

name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

C Amen.

P   Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. Please kneel as

     you are able.

Silence for reflection.

P   Gracious God,

SPIRIT CHECK

Because of grace, God has made us part of God’s family. In this family are many kinds of people, including tricksters, cheats, liars, and scaredy-cats. Our Scriptures are full of examples of people who had a hard time following God (Jacob and David in the Old Testament, Peter and Paul in the New Testament), but God strengthened their faith to serve an important role in God’s mission of the day. Washed in God’s grace, they each become a saint full of God’s Spirit and power. God also makes us citizens along with these ‘saints’ in God’s kingdom that is advancing on earth as it is in heaven.

What are the privileges of being a citizen in God’s kingdom? What are the obligations of kingdom citizenship?

This hour is a great way to lean into our citizenship with God’s saints! Let’s get ready to worship, church!

Please notify an usher if you would like a hearing assistance device.

Kyrie

C     have mercy on us.

We confess that we have turned from you

and given ourselves into the power of sin.

We are truly sorry and humbly repent.

In your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown,

things we have done and things we have failed to do.

Turn us again to you, and uphold us by your Spirit,

so that we may live and serve you in newness of life

through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

P     God, who is rich in mercy, loved us even when we were dead in sin,

and made us alive together with Christ. By grace you have been saved.

In the name of ☩ Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven.

Almighty God strengthen you with power through the Holy Spirit,

that Christ may live in your hearts through faith.

C Amen.

Apostolic Greeting

P The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,

to truth.  Lead us from despair to hope, from fear to trust.  Lead us from hate to

love, from war to peace.  Let peace fill our hearts, our church, our nation, our

world; through the One who gave us Your peace, Jesus Christ, our Savior and

    Lord.

The Apostles’ Creed

C I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ,

God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

To all of our guests: One of the many ways we live out our faith is through JOYFUL GENEROSITY. We’d like to celebrate that God has brought you here

today by making a $25 contribution in your name to a charity of your choice. After worship, please stop by our Welcome Center in the Atrium so you can designate the

charity and provide us with your information. Thank you for joining us today.

your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.

Communion At Preston Meadow Lutheran, our communion table is “open.” That means that you don’t

have to be a member of PMLC to commune, or even a Lutheran. We welcome children of all ages to this favorite meal of the church because we know that we come at Jesus’

invitation to receive his free gift of grace. Parents, if your children are not yet communing, encourage them to fold their arms over their chests to receive a blessing. If you are

communing, simply open your hands and bread will be given to you. Cups with white grape juice are located in the center of the trays; gluten-free wafers are available on request.

Come and enjoy the free gifts of God!
