Pretérito vs. Imperfecto Salto Ángel At 3,212 feet tall (approximately 6/10 of a mile), Angel Falls is the world’s tallest uninterrupted waterfall. Although the waterfall is in Venezuela, it is named after an American Aviator, Jimmie Angel, who was the first to fly over the falls in 1933. He returned in 1937, only to have to do an emergency landing a the top of the mountain-plain… during which his aircraft was damaged. He and his party spent the next 11 days hiking back through the jungle to civilization. Upon their return, the falls became known by his name. It is now a popular ecoturism destination. .
