Maintenance Specifications

Regular maintenance is essential to the life of the machine

There are several items that should be checked daily

3Preventative Maintenance

Check the operation of the interlock switches

1 Set on the seat and engage the parking brake Push the lift pedal down all the way and release itMove the shift selector to the No 1 position and try to start the engine The engine should not crankMove the shift selector to the No 2 position and try to start the engine The engine should not crank Ifthe engine did not crank in either position the traction switch is operating properly

2 Sit on the seat and engage the parking brake Push thelift pedal down all the way and release it Move the shift

Cautionselector to the neutral (N) position and try to start the engine The engine should start and continue to run which means that the traction switch and mowlift switch Do not disconnect or bypass the interlock is operating correctly switches Check the operation of the switches to

assure that the interlock system is operating3 Sit on the seat and engage the parking brake Move correctly If a switch is malfunctioning or out of the shift selector to the neutral (N) position Push the adjustment adjust or replace it before operatingmow pedal down and try to start the engine The engine the machine To assure maximum safetyshould not crank which means the mowlift switch is replace all interlock switches every two years or operating correctly 1000 hours whichever comes first

4 Sit on the seat and engage the parking brake Move

the shift selector to neutral (N) Push lift pedal down and release it Start the engine release the parkingbrake and drive the machine to an open area that is free of debris and foreign objects Keep all peopleespecially children away from the front of the machine and out of the area of operation Move shiftselector to neutral (N) make sure the mow pedal is disengaged set the throttle control at half speed andengage the parking brake Hold the steering wheel brace your feet on the foot deck and brake pedaland move the shift selector to the No 1 position Carefully lift off the seat the engine should stopRepeat procedure with shift selector in No 2 position If engine stops while lifting off the seat with shiftselector in No 1 and No 2 positions interlock system is operating correctly

Check the operation of the gauges and instruments

Check Leak Detector If EquippedDepress the alarm test switch

The alarm should sound

Check Brake Pedal OperationDepress the brake pedal and release Brake pedal should move freely Depress the brake pedal and then depress the pedal lock linkage Brake pedal should remain down Check fuel levelFuel tank should be filled to no more that 1 inch from the top of the fill neck

Check engine oil levelOil level should be at the full mark on the

dipstick

Do not over fill

4 Preventative Maintenance Clean Engine Cooling FinsUsing compressed air clean the cooling fins of the engine to prevent overheating

Inspect the Air Filter Pre-cleaner

Inspect air filter pre-cleaner for dirt or contamination

Listen for unusual noises

Operate all machine functions and listen for unusual noises

Check hydraulic system oil level

Hydraulic fluid level should be 3 12 inches below the top ofthe filler neck On units equipped with a leak detector the fluid should be visible in the sight glass The units come shipped with Mobile 424 hydraulic fluid

Refer to the chart below for other approved fluids

5Preventative Maintenance Check Hydraulic Hoses For Damage

Visually inspect hydraulic hoses for damageRubbing twisting cuts or kinks

Check for Fluid Leaks

Inspect all components for signs of fluid leakage Check wheel motors reel motors hydraulic pumps engine and cooling system Look for leaks at reservoirs and fuel system components Check Tire Pressure

Check the air pressure in the tires Proper inflation pressure is 8 to 12 psi Front tires Pressure should be the same on both front tires 8 to 15 psi Rear tires Check Reel to Bedknife Adjustment

Check Height-of Cut Adjustment

Lubricate All Grease FittingsImmediately after every high pressure washing

Lubricate Mow Lift amp Brake linkage

Lubricate linkages with a spray lubricant or oil

Touch up Damaged Paint

Battery Fluid level and Cable Connections

Check the electrolyte solution to make surethe level is above the plates If the level is low(but above the plates inside the battery) addwater so the level is to the bottom of the captubes If the level is below the plates add

water only until the plates are covered andthen charge the battery After charging fill thebattery to the proper level

Keep the terminals and entire battery caseclean To clean the battery wash the entirecase with a solution of baking soda andwater Rinse with clear water Do not get the

soda solution into the battery becausedamage to the battery will result Coat thebattery posts and cable connectors with skinover grease or petroleum jelly to preventcorrosion

Service Air Filter Pre-Cleaner Slide foam pre-cleaner off the filter element Wash pre-cleaner in liquid detergent and water Squeeze it dry in a clean cloth Saturate it in engine oil Squeeze it in clean cloth to remove excess oil Reinstall pre-cleaner over filter cartridge

Check Reel Bearing Pre load adjustment

1 First make sure bedknife to reel contact isremoved by turning bedknife adjustment knobcounterclockwise(Fig 6)

2 Reel bearing rolling torque should notexceed 7 in-lb Measure with an inch-poundtorque wrench (Fig 7) If bearing drag doesnot meet above specifications adjust reelbearings

Maintenance Specifications

Regular maintenance is essential to the life of the machine

There are several items that should be checked daily

3Preventative Maintenance

Check the operation of the interlock switches

1 Set on the seat and engage the parking brake Push the lift pedal down all the way and release itMove the shift selector to the No 1 position and try to start the engine The engine should not crankMove the shift selector to the No 2 position and try to start the engine The engine should not crank Ifthe engine did not crank in either position the traction switch is operating properly

2 Sit on the seat and engage the parking brake Push thelift pedal down all the way and release it Move the shift

Cautionselector to the neutral (N) position and try to start the engine The engine should start and continue to run which means that the traction switch and mowlift switch Do not disconnect or bypass the interlock is operating correctly switches Check the operation of the switches to

assure that the interlock system is operating3 Sit on the seat and engage the parking brake Move correctly If a switch is malfunctioning or out of the shift selector to the neutral (N) position Push the adjustment adjust or replace it before operatingmow pedal down and try to start the engine The engine the machine To assure maximum safetyshould not crank which means the mowlift switch is replace all interlock switches every two years or operating correctly 1000 hours whichever comes first

4 Sit on the seat and engage the parking brake Move

the shift selector to neutral (N) Push lift pedal down and release it Start the engine release the parkingbrake and drive the machine to an open area that is free of debris and foreign objects Keep all peopleespecially children away from the front of the machine and out of the area of operation Move shiftselector to neutral (N) make sure the mow pedal is disengaged set the throttle control at half speed andengage the parking brake Hold the steering wheel brace your feet on the foot deck and brake pedaland move the shift selector to the No 1 position Carefully lift off the seat the engine should stopRepeat procedure with shift selector in No 2 position If engine stops while lifting off the seat with shiftselector in No 1 and No 2 positions interlock system is operating correctly

Check the operation of the gauges and instruments

Check Leak Detector If EquippedDepress the alarm test switch

The alarm should sound

Check Brake Pedal OperationDepress the brake pedal and release Brake pedal should move freely Depress the brake pedal and then depress the pedal lock linkage Brake pedal should remain down Check fuel levelFuel tank should be filled to no more that 1 inch from the top of the fill neck

Check engine oil levelOil level should be at the full mark on the

dipstick

4 Preventative Maintenance Clean Engine Cooling FinsUsing compressed air clean the cooling fins of the engine to prevent overheating

Inspect the Air Filter Pre-cleaner

Inspect air filter pre-cleaner for dirt or contamination

Listen for unusual noises

Operate all machine functions and listen for unusual noises

Check hydraulic system oil level

Hydraulic fluid level should be 3 12 inches below the top ofthe filler neck On units equipped with a leak detector the fluid should be visible in the sight glass The units come shipped with Mobile 424 hydraulic fluid

Refer to the chart below for other approved fluids

Inspect all components for signs of fluid leakage Check wheel motors reel motors hydraulic pumps engine and cooling system Look for leaks at reservoirs and fuel system components Check Tire Pressure

Battery Fluid level and Cable Connections

Check the electrolyte solution to make surethe level is above the plates If the level is low(but above the plates inside the battery) addwater so the level is to the bottom of the captubes If the level is below the plates add

water only until the plates are covered andthen charge the battery After charging fill thebattery to the proper level

Keep the terminals and entire battery caseclean To clean the battery wash the entirecase with a solution of baking soda andwater Rinse with clear water Do not get the

soda solution into the battery becausedamage to the battery will result Coat thebattery posts and cable connectors with skinover grease or petroleum jelly to preventcorrosion

Service Air Filter Pre-Cleaner Slide foam pre-cleaner off the filter element Wash pre-cleaner in liquid detergent and water Squeeze it dry in a clean cloth Saturate it in engine oil Squeeze it in clean cloth to remove excess oil Reinstall pre-cleaner over filter cartridge

1 First make sure bedknife to reel contact isremoved by turning bedknife adjustment knobcounterclockwise(Fig 6)

2 Reel bearing rolling torque should notexceed 7 in-lb Measure with an inch-poundtorque wrench (Fig 7) If bearing drag doesnot meet above specifications adjust reelbearings

3Preventative Maintenance

Check the operation of the interlock switches

1 Set on the seat and engage the parking brake Push the lift pedal down all the way and release itMove the shift selector to the No 1 position and try to start the engine The engine should not crankMove the shift selector to the No 2 position and try to start the engine The engine should not crank Ifthe engine did not crank in either position the traction switch is operating properly

2 Sit on the seat and engage the parking brake Push thelift pedal down all the way and release it Move the shift

Cautionselector to the neutral (N) position and try to start the engine The engine should start and continue to run which means that the traction switch and mowlift switch Do not disconnect or bypass the interlock is operating correctly switches Check the operation of the switches to

assure that the interlock system is operating3 Sit on the seat and engage the parking brake Move correctly If a switch is malfunctioning or out of the shift selector to the neutral (N) position Push the adjustment adjust or replace it before operatingmow pedal down and try to start the engine The engine the machine To assure maximum safetyshould not crank which means the mowlift switch is replace all interlock switches every two years or operating correctly 1000 hours whichever comes first

4 Sit on the seat and engage the parking brake Move

the shift selector to neutral (N) Push lift pedal down and release it Start the engine release the parkingbrake and drive the machine to an open area that is free of debris and foreign objects Keep all peopleespecially children away from the front of the machine and out of the area of operation Move shiftselector to neutral (N) make sure the mow pedal is disengaged set the throttle control at half speed andengage the parking brake Hold the steering wheel brace your feet on the foot deck and brake pedaland move the shift selector to the No 1 position Carefully lift off the seat the engine should stopRepeat procedure with shift selector in No 2 position If engine stops while lifting off the seat with shiftselector in No 1 and No 2 positions interlock system is operating correctly

Check the operation of the gauges and instruments

Check Leak Detector If EquippedDepress the alarm test switch

The alarm should sound

Check Brake Pedal OperationDepress the brake pedal and release Brake pedal should move freely Depress the brake pedal and then depress the pedal lock linkage Brake pedal should remain down Check fuel levelFuel tank should be filled to no more that 1 inch from the top of the fill neck

Check engine oil levelOil level should be at the full mark on the

dipstick

4 Preventative Maintenance Clean Engine Cooling FinsUsing compressed air clean the cooling fins of the engine to prevent overheating

Inspect the Air Filter Pre-cleaner

Inspect air filter pre-cleaner for dirt or contamination

Listen for unusual noises

Check hydraulic system oil level

Hydraulic fluid level should be 3 12 inches below the top ofthe filler neck On units equipped with a leak detector the fluid should be visible in the sight glass The units come shipped with Mobile 424 hydraulic fluid

Battery Fluid level and Cable Connections

Check the electrolyte solution to make surethe level is above the plates If the level is low(but above the plates inside the battery) addwater so the level is to the bottom of the captubes If the level is below the plates add

water only until the plates are covered andthen charge the battery After charging fill thebattery to the proper level

Keep the terminals and entire battery caseclean To clean the battery wash the entirecase with a solution of baking soda andwater Rinse with clear water Do not get the

soda solution into the battery becausedamage to the battery will result Coat thebattery posts and cable connectors with skinover grease or petroleum jelly to preventcorrosion

Visually inspect hydraulic hoses for damageRubbing twisting cuts or kinks

Check for Fluid Leaks

Inspect all components for signs of fluid leakage Check wheel motors reel motors hydraulic pumps engine and cooling system Look for leaks at reservoirs and fuel system components Check Tire Pressure

Check the air pressure in the tires Proper inflation pressure is 8 to 12 psi Front tires Pressure should be the same on both front tires 8 to 15 psi Rear tires Check Reel to Bedknife Adjustment

Battery Fluid level and Cable Connections

Check the electrolyte solution to make surethe level is above the plates If the level is low(but above the plates inside the battery) addwater so the level is to the bottom of the captubes If the level is below the plates add

water only until the plates are covered andthen charge the battery After charging fill thebattery to the proper level

Keep the terminals and entire battery caseclean To clean the battery wash the entirecase with a solution of baking soda andwater Rinse with clear water Do not get the

soda solution into the battery becausedamage to the battery will result Coat thebattery posts and cable connectors with skinover grease or petroleum jelly to preventcorrosion

Service Air Filter Pre-Cleaner Slide foam pre-cleaner off the filter element Wash pre-cleaner in liquid detergent and water Squeeze it dry in a clean cloth Saturate it in engine oil Squeeze it in clean cloth to remove excess oil Reinstall pre-cleaner over filter cartridge
