NICK ALBERTSONBorn Boston 1983, lives and works in Chicago

Using a painterly vernacular with modernist flourishes, Albertson then creates works from the inherent uniformity of these mass-produced materials resulting in new compositions and re-aes-theticized landscapes.

Opened in 2012 in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago, Aspect/Ratio Gallery focuses on international contemporary artists. Aspect/Ratio moved to West Town to a larger location in November of 2017. Our shows in 2017-2018 included: AlejandroFigueredoDíaz-Perera,KateGilmore,KambuiOlujimi,HươngNgô,NellyAgassi/IrisBernblum,aswellastwogroup shows organized by invited curators Syndicate and Tyler Blackwell. Highlights in 2019 are: Sabina Ott, Derrick Woods-Morrow, Laura Davis, Erin Hayden, and Nick Albertson.

IRIS BERNBLUMBorn Toledo, Ohio 1975, lives and works in Chicago

Her work often explores fictional relationships between animals, siblings, friends that are often complicated, intense and sometimes even endearing. Bernblum’s manifested work is ambiguous and subversive and makes direct reference to themes that grapple with power, play and failure.

KATE GILMORE Born Washington, DC 1975, lives and works in New York

Through the use of repetition and performance, much of Gilmore’s practice demonstrates a reso-lute transformative process that comes out of destruction. Destruction and dexterity are arsenal for the artist who consistently goes well beyond the limitations of what material is generally prepared to endure. Kate Gilmore is represented by David Castillo Gallery, Miami Beach, FL.
