Have you or anyone you know gone the famous Globe Theatre? No? The Globe Theatre
was amazing; everyone wanted to see the plays. Everyone in London would come and see it. It was
designed by William Shakespeare. The audience, however, was a different story. All of the
audience expected good plays. If they did not like the play or a specific actor, they would throw
food or boo at them. The poor people would stand in what is called the open yard. However, they were called groundlings or stinkards. In addition, they could throw food, but they could actually touch the actors, too. They could trip an actor if they wanted to. Therefore, that is how it
was back then in the 1500s.
