• Prices of subscription journals can rise or fall.

• Elsevier subscription prices depend (among other factors) on the number of subscription articles only.

• If the number of subscription articles goes down in a structured way, we will reduce the subscription price of the journal.

• In 2014 we adjusted the subscription prices of 26 journal titles downwards to reflect falls in subscription article volume .

• In some cases, hybrid titles with declining subscription revenue and an increasing number of open access articles will transition towards a full open access model as a result of this process.
