No pipe preparation is needed and no force is required to push the pipe past theseal, so installation could not be faster or easier. Philmac, the global leader in the design and manufacture of plastic compression fittings, is proud to release a new addition to the innovative 3G® Metric/Imperial™ range.

3G Copper is the next generation in poly to copper connections. Incorporating all the benefits of the innovative 3G Metric/Imperial™ range including the patented Slide & Tighten® technology, installation is now easier and faster than ever.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Pipe Installation 1 Cut copper pipe square. Mark the depth of copper insertion using ‘pipe stop’ marking or body flange as visual indicator. Remove any scale or burrs from the copper pipe.

Pipe Installation 2 Insert the copper pipe and push into the rubber seal up to the mark indicated.

Pipe Installation 3 Tighten the nut by hand and finish using a wrench. Remember to check that the nut is tight against the body flange.

Pipe Installation 4 Remember to replace the stainless steel grip ring if re-using the copper connection.

INTRODUCTION

Disassembly 1 Remove the 3G nut and keep for reinstallation later.

Disassembly 2 Remove the White 3G Collet. Remove the Black rubber seal.

Assemby 1 Check all components are available. Insert the seal into the body, ensuring orientation is correct.

Assembly 2 Orientate the stainless steel gripper and plastic backing ring.

Assembly 3 Install the 3G Metric®/Imperial Nut.

Universal Transition Couplings

2. Ready to use positionThe fitting is pre-assembled andready to use, however alwaysensure the nut is backed off and 3threads are showing. Pipes at thetop of the tolerance may require 5threads showing.

5. Fully installedThe fitting is fully installed when thenut cannot be tightened any furtherwith reasonable force.

3. Pipe insertionTo ensure adequate insertion depth,witness mark the pipe to the flangeon the fitting. Then insert pipe to thecorrect depth.

6. DisassemblyUnscrew the nut with a wrench.Pipe will be released and can bepulled out of the fitting.

1. Cut pipe to lengthCut pipe square and to length usingflange on the central body as aguide. Ensure end of connectingpipe is undamaged and clean.

4. Nut tighteningTighten nut firmly with a wrench.nut will not butt against the bodyflange when the pipe size is at thetop end of the fitting tolerance.

• Use a pipe measuring gauge if there are doubts on pipe outside diameter (OD) size.• Installation instructions are also applicable and available to the MDPE/PE end.

PROPERTIES

• Dynamic sealing method: Themechanical advantage of the nut threadcompresses the seal into position, eliminatingresistance when inserting the pipe into thefitting so there is no risk of seal distortion ordisplacement.

• No loose components: If the nut isremoved there is no danger of losingcomponents, as the collet and seal ring areretained in the body of the fitting. Losingcomponents in the trench becomes a thingof the past.

• Designed to minimise pipe twist: Thefitting has been designed to minimise pipetwist as the nut is tightened. Maximum pipetwist is approximately a quarter turncompared to one and a half turns with manyother fittings. Pipe twist can impact on notonly the connection you have just made butalso on the connection at the other end ofthe line.

• Approvals: Philmac fittings are WRASapproved for above and below ground use.
