ARYABHATTA

Aryabhatta (476-550 A.D.) was born in Patliputra in Magadha, modern Patna in Bihar. He wrote his famous treatise the “Aryabhatta-siddhanta” but more famously the “Aryabhatiya”, the only work to have survived. It contains mathematical and astronomical theories that have been revealed to be quite accurate in modern mathematics. But his greatest contribution has to be the origin of “zero”. His other works include algebra, arithmetic, trigonometry, quadratic equations and the sine table.

This remarkable man was a genius and continues to baffl e many mathematicians of today. His works was then later adopted by the Greeks and then the Arabs.

C V RAMAN

C.V.Raman was a scientist in Physics, who won noble prize in 1930. Raman was born on 7th November,1888 at Ayyanpettai in Tamil Nadu. His discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ made a very distinctive contribution to Physics. The ‘Raman Effect’ was a demonstration of the ‘Collision’ effect of light bullets (photons) passing through a transparent medium, whether solid, liquid or gaseous. Raman’s publications include ‘Molecular Diffraction of Light’, ‘Mechanical Theory of Bowed Strings’ and ‘Diffraction of X-ray’s’, ‘Theories of Musical Instruments’ etc. Raman conducted pioneering research in musical acoustics, particularly on Tamboura, the well known Indian musical instrument.

HOMI BHABHA

The eminent scientist who ushered India into the atomic age was Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha. He was born on 30 October 1909 in a Parsi family of Mumbai. He is called the ‘Father of Indian Nuclear Science’. Dr.Bhabha was appointed the fi rst chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, set up in 1948. It was largely due to his efforts that the nation’s fi rst Atomic research Center, now named Bhabha Atomic research Center, was established at Trombay, near Mumbai. In 1945, he founded the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai. Dr. Bhabha as the scientist of a very high caliber, received many national and international awards and honours. The Government of India also honoured him with ‘Padma Bhushan’ in 1954. The ‘Homi Jehangir Bhabha Award’ has been instituted by Indian National Science Academy.

J C BOSE

Jagdish Chandra Bose was an Indian physicist who pioneered the investigation of radio and microwave optics. Bose was born in Mymensingh in Bengal (now in Bangladesh) on November 30, 1858.

Jagadish Chandra Bose was one of the pioneers of modern science in India. His research was on the properties of electro-magnetic waves. His major achievement was to demonstrate the similarity of responses to stimulation among the living and the nonliving as well as the fundamental similarity of responses in plant and animal tissues. Bose was not only a biologist, but also a physicist. Bose believed that by focusing on the boundaries between different physical and biological sciences, he would be able to demonstrate the underlying unity of all things. Bose’s biological researches were

founded initially by the discovery that an electric receiver seems to show science of fatigue after continued use. He can rightly be called the inventor of wireless telegraphy. Bose was the fi rst in the world to fabricate and demonstrate in public (1895) the device that generated microwaves-radio waves of very short wave length.

MEGHNAD SAHA

Meghnad Saha, one of the famous Physicist was born in Saroyatali village in Dacca (now in Bangladesh). He invented an

instrument to measure the weight and pressure of solar rays. He produced the famous equation

which he called ‘equation of the reaction - isobar for ionization’ which later became known as Saha’s

“Thermo-Ionization Equation”. Saha was the leading spirit in organizing the scientifi c societies

like the ‘National Academy of Science’ (1930), ‘Indian Institute of Science’ (1935) and the ‘Indian

Association for the Cultivation of Science’ (1944). The lasting memorial to him is the ‘Saha Institute

of Nuclear Physics’ founded in 1943 in Calcutta. He was the chief architect of river planning in India.

He prepared the original plan for Damodar Valley Project.

SATYENDRA NATH BOSE

Satyendra Nath Bose (January 1, 1894 - February 4, 1974) was a Bengali Indian physicist,

specializing in mathematical physics. Bose was born in Kolkata (Calcutta). Although more than one

Nobel Prize was awarded for the discovery of the boson, Bose was not awarded the Nobel Prize for

their discovery or for his famous Bose-Einstein statistics. He together with Meghnad Saha published

an equation of state for real gases. Apart from physics he did some research in biochemistry and

literature (Bengali, English). He made deep studies in chemistry, geology, zoology, anthropology,

engineering and other sciences.

HAR GOBIND KHORANA

Dr. Hargobind Khorana was born on 9th January 1922 at Raipur, Punjab (now in Pakistan). Dr. Khorana

was responsible for producing the fi rst man-made gene in his laboratory in the early seventies. This

historic invention won him the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1968 sharing it with M.W. Nuremberg and

R.W. Holley for interpreting the genetic code and analyzing its function in protein synthesis

SUBRAHMANYAN CHANDRASEKHAR

Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, a Nobel Laureate in Physics and one of the greatest astrophysicists

of modern times was born on October 19, 1910 in Lahore, (now in Pakistan).

Chandrasekhar was noted for his work in the fi eld of stellar evolution, and in the early 1930s he was

the fi rst to theorize that a collapsing massive star would become an object so dense that not even

light could escape it; now known as the Black hole. In addition to his work on star degeneration,

he has contributed signifi cantly to many disparate branches of physics, including rotational fi gures

of equilibrium, stellar interiors, radiative transfer of energy through the atmospheres of stars,

hydro magnetic stability and many others. He won the Nobel Prize in 1983 and received 20 honorary

degrees, was elected to 21 learned societies and received numerous awards in addition to the Nobel Prize.

Innovation has been, is and always will remain the key to meeting development

challenges of the primary force for innovation. However, all innovations have been

an outcome of one basic human trait and that is curiosity. When the apple fell on

Newton’s head, it awakened the curiosity in him to fi gure out why it only falls down.

We all know Newton’s inquisitiveness has given us the understanding of gravity

without which man could never have thought of transcending the atmosphere

into space and beyond. All the innovations that we take for granted today were

sometime just a speck of an idea that evolved out of laborious study and research

in FUNDAMENTAL SCIENCES.

Fundamental Science is where new ideas and methods begin that later become

commonplace. According to historical documents, the fi rst known discovery of static

electricity actually dates back to the 6th century BC, where a man named Thales of

Miletus realized rubbing a fur with some other object would cause the two objects to

attract each other. From the electric light, which originated from 19-century curiosity

about electricity, to the World Wide Web, invented at CERN (European Council for

Nuclear Research) to allow international teams of particle physicists to communicate

more easily. No amount of applied research on the candle would have brought us

the electric light; no amount of R&D on the telephone would have brought about

the Web. Science needs the space for curiosity and imagination.

History teaches us that big leaps in human

innovation come about mainly as a

basic result of pure curiosity

Will you become a scientist to serve humanity !

From the Desk of Founder Chairman & Chief Mentor

Dear Students & Parents,

FIITJEE was conceptualized in 1992 with the simple vision

of creating a forum of excellence in training students for the

most prestigious of all competitive examinations in India, the

IIT-JEE. Being a Mechanical Engineering graduate from IIT Delhi

& having faced the rigours of IIT-JEE myself, I realized that for

cracking it a student required not only the right aptitude but the

right attitude as well. Attitude, because in a competitive exam a

student’s eventual success is not judged by how much success

he has attained in the course of the preparation but by how

many failures he has learnt from. To achieve this we at FIITJEE

realized that we didn’t need mere teachers who would impart

knowledge, we needed mentors / gurus who shape a student’s mind to deal with the veracity of

life. Today we boast of a team of over 1000 such experienced gurus who believe that education is

not giving something to a student but something that is to be brought out of them.

Over the years, as we continued on the never ending journey to create success for our students,

we were faced with an austere reality - that success required a holistic approach. We realized that

students were more interested in learning formulae; discover tricks to solve questions while their

analytical skills of thinking and enquiry were being thwarted by the ubiquitous system of education

in our country. Marks took precedence over erudition and developing intellect. Moreover the glamour

of professional courses like Engineering and Medicine took the sheen out of pure Science courses.

The new MTV generation only believed in results and the end seemed to justify the means. With

this comprehension we decided to evolve an inimitable system of education. A system that made

the journey itself to be the reward. A system that focussed on learning, on bringing out the latent

potential in a student and nurture it to its fi nal destination.

Unlike the general belief among students, parents and even many of the so called experts, success

in Science is not merely a function of a student’s ability to understand concepts. In fact this is just

Mr. D. K. Goel(Founder Chairman and Chief Mentor)

Page 7: Pride of INDIA - · PDF filefamous treatise the “Aryabhatta-siddhanta” but more famously the “Aryabhatiya”, the only work to have survived

the tip of the ice berg. The real challenge is to develop analytical thinking skills-the art of weaving

the concepts and knowledge acquired into a logical sequence to create the correct solution to a

problem. FIITJEE realized this long before and our training methodology involves developing the

analytical ability of a student along with the right mix of attitudes and examination temperament.

To endorse the signifi cance of Science in our children FIITJEE has been conducting several

workshops, seminars and quiz competitions. This year taking a leap on our urge to promote the

quest for Science, FIITJEE is conducting a nationwide talent hunt by the name of National Science

Talent Search Exam. This test is aimed at persuading and encouraging our children to perceive the

magnifi cence of Science, to uplift their fortitude and spirit of enquiry and not merely treat it as a

subject to score marks in. This test provides an ideal platform for the students to know themselves

better in terms of focus, aspiration and skill-sets as well as the level of support required. It is

their virtual window to a world of possibilities which can steer their career as well as life towards

excellence.

Students of today will become the visionaries of tomorrow. As Robert Kennedy puts it ‘People

with mere intelligence see things as they are and ask why? But people who have the power of

thinking, dream of things that never are and ask why not?’ So let’s build a nation of thinkers and

join hands with FIITJEE in a journey to promote the veiled talent that is inherent in every child in

our country.

Wish you all the very best.

Reasons Why Students considerFIITJEE THE BEST IN IIT-JEE TRAINING

The Value System

FIITJEE value system revolves around truth, transparency & commitment. Whatever we think, we say & whatever

we say, we do. We present to you what we actually are.

The Quality

We never compromise on quality. Our penchant & pursuit of quality is evident in our every activity, in all our actions,

at all times, everywhere.

v Best Faculty : Every institute for IIT-JEE training worth its name tries

to get a FIITJEE faculty. We are the only institute that

follows a very strong, systematic & objective selection

and training process before a teacher becomes a

FIITJEE faculty. FIITJEE has a pool of more than

1000 very competent full-time faculty ensuring you get

highly effective teachers in all three subjects all through your

studies.

v Comprehensive Study Material : The fact that every publisher / institute refers to our Study Material

& JEE Solutions while creating their books / solutions / study

material is a testimony to our quality. There is a bit of FIITJEE

in everybody associated with IIT-JEE, be it students, a coaching

institute or a publication. Ask any student successful in IIT-JEE &

explore the truth yourself. Our study material is Pattern Proof

i.e. students are prepared for the IIT-JEE irrespective of any type

of pattern.

v Enabling Infrastructure : We strongly believe in the fact that the environment a student

studies in is equally important for effective learning. We ensure

our students study in an enabling environment equipped with

proper classrooms to keep them stress free.

v Personalized Coaching : Individual attention is given to each and every student irrespective

of one’s standing in the merit at any point of time. We never

increase our batch size beyond a limit, this facilitates proper

Student-Faculty interaction. Our faculty is always willing to clear

doubts of students even individually if required.

Page 27: Pride of INDIA - · PDF filefamous treatise the “Aryabhatta-siddhanta” but more famously the “Aryabhatiya”, the only work to have survived

16

The Winning Methodology

Our methodology makes students capable of creatively resolving complex & tricky problems by improving and

sharpening their analytical skills & parallel thinking processes. We develop and share the right strategies from time

to time to optimize students’ output.

Innovative Programs & Concepts

Innovation is the essence at FIITJEE. PINNACLE & SUPREME Programs are already revolutionizing school

education in India. We are the pioneers in designing a specifi c IQ Test to test the temperament and potential of

a student for IIT-JEE. The student’s score in this test helps us judge his / her potential in the beginning itself and

the level of input required for his / her success. This makes our Classroom Programs very effective as we know

in advance the level of input needed for different students. FIITJEE is the only institute in India having the

capability to predict Rank Potential Index (RPI) / Success Potential Index (SPI) of a student & constantly

encourage our students to emulate them.

The Total Success Approach

Even though our programs aim at IIT-JEE, we prepare students comprehensively also for KVPY, SAT, Olympiads,

NTSE and all other important Engineering Entrance Exams including AIEEE / CEE / BIT-SAT / VITEEE / CET

(Karnataka) / CET (G.G.S.I.P. University) / BVP (Pune) / MHT - CET (Maharashtra) / EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh) /

KEAM (Kerala) / UPSEE / MP PET (Madhya Pradesh) / CG PET (Chattisgarh) / RPET (Rajasthan) / BCECE (Bihar)/

WBJEE (West Bengal) / JEE (Orissa) / AMUEEE / J&K CET / JCECE (Jharkhand) etc. too.

Research & Development

Our Research and Development team works round the clock to ensure that our teaching methodology, study material

and course structure etc. is upto date. This committed team keeps a keen eye on the latest developments and

changes in the IIT-JEE / AIEEE, other prestigious Engineering Entrance Exams / Olympiads / NTSE / SAT / KVPY and

swiftly incorporates them in our course curriculum.

The Results

When a student is preparing for a challenging exam like IIT-JEE, AIEEE, SAT, Olympiads, KVPY or NTSE, he / she

wishes to prepare with the best institute. Students know FIITJEE is the best for all of the above competitive exams

and more so because of our consistent excellent results.

FIITJEE Classroom / School Programs are unique in themselves as they ensure the best possible result depending upon the basic potential of the student and his/her ability to work hard.

The methodology developed by us and which is followed in our classroom / school programs for IIT-JEE preparation lays emphasis on making the students imbibe the fundamental concepts of Science & Maths and on sharpening their analytical skills and parallel thinking process.

This makes them capable of creatively resolving complex and tricky problems by mere application of basic concepts. FIITJEE’s experience is that the IQ level of the students is raised signifi cantly in the process.

HOW DOES THE CHANGE IN IIT-JEE AFFECT YOU ?

Testing pattern of IIT-JEE keeps on changing but the key aspect of the JEE test is to judge the analytical ability

of the aspirants alongwith the core knowledge of the subject.

Students having sound fundamental knowledge of concepts will always outperform students who

are only confi ning their preparation to the pattern rather than understanding the concepts.

We train our students in such a way that they are ready to scale IIT-JEE successfully irrespective

of the pattern.

MAJOR FEATURES OF Classroom / School Programs

20

FIITJEE Integrated School Programs are a dream of team FIITJEE to bring renaissance in the Indian

Education System and our endeavour is to move towards Ideal School Education.

Integrated School Programs are offered at highly subsidised course fee for which the seats

are limited. However, eligible students will be offered admission in the Integrated School

Programs with Regular Course Fee also.

Our Integrated School Programs have the capability to help students of class VII, VIII, IX, X, XI & XII to

achieve - Overall Academic Excellence in X & XII Boards, State level science & scholarship tests, NTSE,

SAT, KVPY, IIT-JEE, National & International Olympiads, Junior Science Olympiad in a single system

within regular school hours thus bringing in tremendous focus & reduce undue stress.

What is an Integrated School Program ?

• A study program with a synergistic approach to both the School / Board studies as well as

IIT-JEE / Other Engineering Entrance Exams preparation.

• A program for School / Board studies as well as IIT-JEE / Other Engineering Entrance Exam

Preparation - that will complement each other.

• A program that will prepare students extremely well not only for IIT-JEE / Other Engineering

Entrance Exams and School / Board exams but also for Olympiads, KVPY and other Scholastic

Exams as well.

• A study plan that will ease out the pressure of time (or the feeling for the lack of it) for the

student, unlocking lots of extra time, giving enough time for self studies, which a student would

not have got otherwise and also giving him suffi cient time for co-curricular selfstudy activities,

sports, social activities etc. which are so important for his / her personality development.

• A program that eliminates the opposite pressure forces on the student.

FIITJEE Integrated School Programs (Not for Profi t Initiative)

Page 32: Pride of INDIA - · PDF filefamous treatise the “Aryabhatta-siddhanta” but more famously the “Aryabhatiya”, the only work to have survived

21

Benefi ts to the students

• Students enrolling in this program will have an integrated study plan.

• The studies for both School / Board as well as IIT-JEE will be controlled and executed

by FIITJEE.

• This would mean that the student would not be going through two separate schedules and

classes for the same subject.

• Complete Lab and other support will be provided to the students.

• Integrated School Programs would provide thrust for the students to participate in

co-curricular activities, sports, social activities etc which are so important for his / her personality

development.

FIITJEE & the Associate School will also aim for :

1. Profi cient & confi dent communication ability for each & every student.

2. Inculcating sports / exercises as a discipline for physical fi tness throughout the life for each

student.

3. Improvement of memory & IQ, mental, physical & spiritual well being, awareness & growth

with intensive yoga & meditation for each student.

4. Instilling Indian culture & values for each student, not to learn all this as History & Geography

but learn to live like that.

5. Developing personality traits (focus, effective communication, leadership ability, determination,

strategic planning, pro-active approach, handling failures, stress, etc.) & positive attitude

required for success. (This is what corporate sector tries to teach employees who are 25 - 55+

years of age and hardly respond to changes required).

IITs have restricted the no. of attempts for IIT-JEE. Students now just have two chances – one just after the XII board exams and the second immediately in the next year. They should try to succeed in IIT-JEE in the fi rst attempt itself and not take unnecessary pressure as uncertainty of ill-health or any accidents while appearing for the second & last attempt could be too risky.

Till the eighties, it was alright if you started your preparation just after XI and at the beginning of XII, but even then to get Top Ranks you had to begin your preparation at the commencement of XI itself. In late nineties it became a norm to start preparation at the beginning of class XI and devote at least two years to train rigorously for IIT-JEE.

Now, with the increase in competition and keeping in mind that only two chances are available, only the very talented students can succeed by starting their IIT-JEE training in XI. But, if you do not have an inborn spark that can put you in Top 6000 students in JEE you have no other choice but to start as early as class IX to achieve the desired success in IIT-JEE.

Four years of intensive IIT-JEE training within the school framework is ambrosia for IIT-JEE. SUPREME – Four Year Integrated School Program helps students excel in IIT-JEE, X & XII Boards, KVPY and Olympiads besides enhancing their IQ at every stage.

Since, SUPREME - Four Year Integrated School Program is a social effort, the fee that we charge is less than half of our cost of the program, therefore we have very limited seats available in SUPREME - Four Year Integrated School Program.

p Do you know that it is much easier to get admission into B.E / B.Tech / undergraduate

stream/courses of your choice in the World’s Best Universities ranked much higher than

IITs like MIT, Princeton, Caltech, Yale, Stanford, Harvard... than it is to qualify IIT-JEE

(which happens to be a much tougher exam than SAT - II & AP Exams) with even a low

rank.

p You would be surprised to know that one can get a high score in SAT - II even if that

student does not have potential to even get a decent Rank in AIEEE.

p Please note World University Ranking* of IIT Bombay is 187, IIT Delhi is 202, IIT Kanpur

• Focusing on essential life skills & ethics – enabling students to lead a better life

• Nurturing and developing thinkers and opinion makers

• Giving a platform to students for global careers

• Yet grounding them in solid Indian Value Systems

• And making education a completely enjoyable process by eliminating stress out of the child’s life

FIITJEE World School - Vision and Mission

Goals of FIITJEE World Schoolv Prepare honest, truthful and conscious citizens of this world – who can attain leadership positions

and also be conscious of their responsibility towards the society and the world.

v Prepare students comprehensively to compete in all scholastic / competitive exams relevant for that class.

• Preparing students for admission in US Universities - in all Science Streams, Engineering & Medical faculties.

• To create success for students in various competitive & scholastic exams in India e.g. NTSE / National Science Olympiads / IIT-JEE / KVPY etc. and finally enable students to secure admission in prestigious colleges / universities of United States of America.

• Students will be prepared extensively for Advanced Placement Tests (US College Board), SAT-II subject tests (US College Board), SAT-I and TOEFL.

• To prepare students for admission into colleges / institutes / universities ahead of IITs in the World Rankings.

Needless to say, these students will, in any case be very well prepared for IIT-JEE, KVPY, Olympiads & other scholarship / competitive exams in India.

.... is one where you do not have to make choices. Choices between performance in boards or

competitive exams. Choices between academics and extracurricular activities. Choices between

learning and remembering. And most importantly choices between enjoying education and being

stressed by it.

Ideal School Education is one with a holistic approach that is comprehensive, so that, there is no

need for any sort of coaching / tuitions / supplementary support services. Where the goal is not

just good marks in the Board exams and, in the pursuance of this goal, other areas like competitive

exam preparation etc. are not neglected / discouraged. Where a child is not stressed during the

pursuit of a good performance in the board exams and in the competitive exams. And where the

child is able to deliver his / her best in both – boards as well as competitions – that too by having to

go through a single system of learning. Where the extracurricular curriculum is hand in glove with

the overall objective of wholesome education – making students ready for global careers as well as

enabling them to conduct their lives in a much desired, honest, ethical and truthful manner.
