‘Everyone put their hearts into it: praying for others (both locally and around the world) at a special Mass; giving up something they would normally have today, and donating the money saved to CAFOD.  It’s a great opportunity for the children to recognise that by helping others they can make the world a better place’ writes CAFOD School Volunteer Linda Heneghan.

On Saturday 23 October, Alex ran the Mini & Junior Great South Run held alongside the main Great South Run. He completed the 2.5km race in just under 13 minutes, and raised more than £300 for CAFOD. We are as proud of you as your family who supported you on the day. Alex, you showed us hard training pays! Keep up the good work.

St Mary’s, Bridgend chose the colour red to really put their heart into making a difference with CAFOD. Students and staff organised various fundraising events: a cake sale, penalty shoot outs, netball shoot-the-hoops, and then ended the day with 'St Mary's got talent'. 

They raised £500. Brilliant!

Isabella, a CAFOD school volunteer gave a talk in assembly about Fairtrade.

Students learnt that buying fairly traded goods helps farmers receive a fair price for their products and money to spend in their community.

These farmers also care for the environment, reducing the use of pesticides and adopting good labour practices.

Pupils at Corpus Christi really put their hearts into their Harvest Fast Day preparations. They learned about Eric and Julienne from Rwanda, and by offering to do household chores (like Eric has to do) in exchange for money, they put their brooms and dishcloths into raising funds to change people’s lives for the better.

Corpus Christi, Boscombe

The children collected a magnificent number of 20p coins and had fun competing in two teams (houses of St David and St Patrick) to see whose line of 20ps was the longest. They raised a total of £587.60 which they divided between CAFOD and another charity.

CAFOD School volunteers, Sarah Barber and Kate Cook were delighted to be invited to collect the cheque during an assembly.

Pupils, parishioners and guests enjoyed a CAFOD Fast Day Lunch on Friday 1 October in St.Edmund's Church Hall, Whitton, Twickenham.

Year 2 pupils set themselves the challenge of saving enough coins to stretch the length of the playground. The children designed posters and promoted their fundraising during assemblies.

They managed to stretch the coins from one end of the playground to the other with some left over! In total they raised £44.16 for CAFOD.

St Gregory’s pupils put their hearts into fundraising by choosing one of six fun activities: football, computers, cake icing, drawing, reading and a disco.

Everyone at St Helen’s got involved in a whole week of activities to raise money for Pakistan. Y2 sold biscuits they decorated with sweets. a bucket of “loose coppers” was collecteda trail of 10ps spelt out Pakistan A Dr Who annual and autograph from the new doctor was raffled!And there was a “bring and buy” book sale
