Year 2’s out about at our Port Curtis Farm

On Tuesday 25th February, Year 2 students travelled by our School bus for a guided excursion of our Port Curtis Farm. Mr Hardy Manser was our guide. We are learning about the life cycle of plants, soil erosion and water conservation. It was an interesting and informative excursion. Some highlights on our trip included seeing Fred, the chestnut horse and the 12 hour old chickens.

Regional Chess Tournament Term 1 2020

7 schools and 16 teams participated in the Primary division of the Regional Chess Tournament at TCC on Monday 9th March. We were very proud of all players for their efforts, behaviour and sportsmanship. They played 8 games of chess over the day. A win is worth one point, a stalemate (or draw) is worth ½ point.

RGS Team 1 consisted of: Neal Dhamsania, Siyuan Liu, Eric John Dennis, Tosibiletu Adegbija.

RGS Team 2 consisted of: Ziran Lekha, Shyam Ashokumar, Shivam Karthikeyan, Prahas Peddireddy.

Tosi won 5 of his 8 games and received a Merit ribbon, as did Shyam, who won 6 of his 8.

Shivam and Prahas, our two youngest team members, played their first tournament and had some great success, learning a great deal in the process.

RGS Team 1 came in first place with 28 out of a possible 32 points. Kingsley SS came in second on 22 and RGS Team 2 came 3rd on 19 points. Overall Individual placings, of the 64 primary players went to: Neal Dhamsania 1st – winning all 8 of his games. Eric John Dennis 2nd – winning 7. Siyuan Liu 3rd – also winning 7 but placing 3rd on the tie-break count back system.

Congratulations to all, great job!

Geographical Landmarks Poetry

These piles of anaemic stone, what are they here for?

All in different patterns, standing and lying galore.

Walking across viridescent fields,

Smelling mystery,

Illusions of people around me,

Stones speaking of history.

People of the Neolithic, using material wisely,

Erecting Sarsens and Bluestones,

Most precisely.

Wiltshire, as proud as it can be,

Here is an English landmark,

To be shared by you and me.

Vidath Wedisinghe.

Cold wind sprays mist around the ancient mountain,

The falling water flows like a fountain,

979 meters high,

Angel Falls praises the sky.

Looking down from this great height,

You feel a sense of power and might.

This fall will be here forever more,

Sharing its story with an uproar.

A big, grand beast, oh so strong,

Why has it stood there for so long?

A gift to his wife showing his love to her,

Sitting south bank of the Yamuna river.

Taj Mahal of imperial importance,

It’s so valued and treasured, in accordance,

The jewel of India decorated by ornamental arches,

Many people sad when they reach their departures.

Kitty Flenady

In the heat of the sizzling day,

The blonde pyramids shine away,

Hard work of history in the air,

Smells of dust, bleached fair.

Quiet wind against my skin,

Ashes from time ago seeps within.

Sphynx standing by to protect,

A pharaoh inside to resurrect.
