TOPIC: BOASTING

What is boasting?

o Boasting is to speak with pride.

o Often excessive pride, about oneself or something.

o Islam forbids showing off, boasting or reminding others of one‟s favours and it also

forbids praising themselves.

Example of boasting.

Amina went running home after school and had a huge grin on her face from ear to

ear. I thought, "Oh no! She must have got her school report again!"

She seemed really excited and when I got home she began to show off and dance

around. She started shouting, "Ha Ha Ha! I got good marks and mum said I am so

clever!" Just then Mum came in and she told Amina off. Mum said, "How many times

have I told you not to show off. You know it is wrong!" Amina looked down, stopped

smiling and said sorry to Mum.

What to learn from the above story.

o Allah does not like people who are proud and likes to „show off‟.

o We must be proud for who we are.

o We can be proud to be a muslim and of our family.

o However a proudness that gives us wrong thoughts, negative feeling and hurting

others is bad.

Remember!

o Pride is considered an 'illness' of the heart.

o Our Prophet (s.a.w) taught us that a person who has an atoms weight of pride inside

his heart will not enter Paradise.

o Sometimes when we are good at something or we achieve something good we tend to

have pride. Sometimes this can make us feel that we are better than others and we

think low of them.

o We should remember that Allah has given these qualities and blessings. We should be

grateful to Allah and never think that we are better than others.

TOPIC: FORGIVENESS

What is forgiveness?

Forgiveness is when others make mistake and ask forgiveness we forgive them.

Example, if anyone stole your pen , and they ask for your forgiveness, you forgive

them.

When is the right time to ask for forgiveness?

The right time to ask for forgiveness is before subuh at 3.am in early morning.

This is the best time because allah‟talah will come down all the way from the seventh

cloud to the first cloud and looking forward for our forgiveness.

He will full fill our forgiveness.

How to ask forgiveness?

There are no particular words to say for asking forgiveness.

Muslims are taught many phrases and words to keep repeating daily asking God's

forgiveness. For example:

Astaghfiru-Allah, Subhanaka-Allah humma wa bi hamdika wa ash-hadu al la Ilaha

illa Anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk ".

What are the ways to receive forgiveness from Allah?

To receive forgiveness from God there are three requirements:

Before you ask forgiveness you must know your mistake .

Also must make sure you do not do the mistake again.

Everyday you have to pray and ask for forgiveness. But you have to do from your full

heart. Than he will forgive us.

Hadis

Muhammad nabi (s.a.w) says:

If some one slaps one of your cheeks we have to give our another cheeks also.

Because we have to forgive that person.

Everytime when Muhamed (s.a.w) walk along the road a women throw the rubbish at

him. For sometime that women never throw so he went and saw. She was having high

fever. Than the women was so ashamed that she did it him. She asked sorry. But he

already forgive her. This is how we should be.

Why we fast?

To control our nafs.

Special Ties

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and a time when Muslims across

the world will fast (do not eat) during the hours of daylight.

It is a special and holy month for Muslims. Every year on this month, Muslims fast

for approximately 30 days until Eid arrives

Muslims believe that the gates of Heaven (Jannah) are open and the gates of Hell

(Jahanam) are locked for the duration of Ramadan.

Every Muslim is expected to fast from sunrise to sunset. Muslims must not eat or

drink during daylight hours.

During Ramadan Muslims get up early before dawn (Fajr) and have a light meal. This

time is known as Suhoor.

At the end of each day (Maghrib), Muslims traditionally break their fast with a meal

called the iftar.

Following the custom of Prophet Muhammad, the fast is often broken with dates, and

then followed by a prayer and dinner.

Many Muslims will try to read the whole of the Qur'an at least once during Ramadan

or make sure that they read more Qur'an during this month.

Things that should be done:

Recite Al-Quran

Pray

Tarawih prayers [20 rakats after ishak prayers]

Ask for forgiveness

During Ramadan, we have to try and be extra good and try and do more good deeds.

We have to do our best to not complain and to avoid getting angry or irritated with people.

We are supposed to focus on inner peace and goodness

Ask doas and get doas from others

Do sathaka [smiling is also known as sathaka

During the fasting period, if anyone scolds tell them “I am fasting”

Things that should not be done

Drinking water

Eating food

Vomiting

Taking medicine

Bang

Azan first started when Nabi (s.aw) was finding a way to gather all the people for

salaat with together in jamaat. sahaabah‟s gave many opinion and ideas.

One said a flag can be raised during the salaat time so that people will see and call

each other to gather at the masjid.

Another sahaabi said that a horn can be blown. But that is what Jews use to gather

their flocks. The third suggestion was that two sticks should be hit against each other

at the time of Salaah and its sound will make everyone gather for Salaat. But

nabi(s.a.w) did not like any of those ideas.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Zaid Rabi(r.a) had a dream that a man stood facing Qibla

calling these words aloud. He then mentioned the words of Azaan. After this he sat

for a little while and for the second time called out the same word and added “Qadqa

matis Salaah”. The Sahaabah said that he had this dream and he could remember it

very clearly.

Later, Nabi (s.a.w) said that he must stand with Bilaal(r.a) and whatever words were

taught to him in the drems, he should teach it to Bilaal (r.a) and let him call it out

because his voice was louder and was very clear and it calls it out with great effort.

If I am not wrong, this line is pure assumption.

In Madinah he was the Muazzin and even while travelling, he went with Nabi (s.a.w),

and at the time of Salaat he used to give Azaan. Whenever Nabi (s.a.w) went to

Musjid-e-Quba, then Bilaal (r.a) would give the Azaan and when hearing him, the

people living around the area knew that Nabi (s.a.w) was in the area.

Hadhrat Bilaal(r.a)

Bilaal(r.a) passed away in the 20th

year after hijrat. He passes away at the age of 63.

Nabi became a prophet when Bilaal(r.a) was 30 years old.

He spent the remaining 33 years of his life in the assistance of this nabi(s.a.w)

He was tortured severely for admitting Islam and he still had faith and imaan in allah

and continued to announce, boldly, “Ahad, the One Allah!.”

He participated in the battles and endured both hunger and pain.

He was not onli the muazzin, but he was also the leader of all the muazzins.

From this, we can see how great Bilaal (r.a) was!

- Allah has put a very big reward for Jamaat Salaat. Our Prophet (s.a.w) has placed great emphasis on Jamaat Salaat. Therefore, whenever we get an opportunity we

should offer Jamaat prayers.

Hadith says: “salaat with jamaat has 27 times more reward than salaat alone.”

TERMS

Imam: means one who leads the prayers.

Mamum: one who prays behind an Imam.

Furada: To pray alone.

The Arrangement of Salat al-Jamaat

The Imam of the Jama'at stands in front of those who are following him. The followers are

behind him, forming straight lines -each standing close to the other one's shoulders. As for

the distance between the rows, it should be just enough to allow the person to perform

Sajdah.

Listen to the Imam

In the first two Rak'at, the Imam will read Surah al-Fatiha and one more complete Surah of

the Holy Quran' an. If you are praying the Salat of Fajr, Maghrib and 'Isha, then the Imam

will be reciting these Surahs out loud, thus, you should keep silent, and listen to his recitation.

In the Salat of Zuhr and „Asr, the Imam will be reciting in a quiet whisper and you will not

recite anything out loud.

Khadijah (r.a) was born in the year 555 C.E. By the time she reached the age of forty she was a wealthy, noble, fine-natured business woman.

Khadijah (r.a) heard about Prophet Mohammed's (saw) reputation for being an honest and upright young man. She asked him to handle some of her business.

Despite their age difference of 15 years, Khadijah (r.a) desired to marry him. They

then had 6 children.

Khadijah (r.a) raised the children and handled the family issues. She was a loving wife who comforted him when they had problems. She remained the only wife of

Prophet (saw) until her death at the age of 65. Long after her death, Prophet (saw)

remembered and honored her often.

There is a lesson in Khadijah (r.a)'s life. She accepted and started working for the religion of Islam. This not only made her the first Muslim but also a role-model for all

Muslim women today.

She led the example of a good, loving wife. She also showed us how to forget the wishes of this life and work only for the good of Islam. Khadijah (r.a) truly was a

honourable woman.

When Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) first deliverd his message of Islam, Umar (r.a) believed Islam was against the Quraish and his ancestors, and he decided to kill

Muhammad (s.a.w).

He was stopped on his way to Prophet Muhammad‟s (s.a.w) house upon hearing

about his sister's conversion to Islam. Umar (r.a) was initially angered by the news,

but after reading some of the Quran he was instantly changed. Rather than killing

Muhammad, he was determined to accept Islam.

Umar (r.a) was part of the first few to go to Medina, and became an important companion of Muhammad. He participated in all of the Muslim battles against the

Quraish.

Upon the death of Muhammad, Umar (r.a) was in such a state of sadness that he

threatened to chop-off anyone who said that Muhammad was dead.

Umar (r.a) was murdered in 644 AD by a Persian slave who was angered by a personal quarrel with Umar (r.a); he stabbed the khalifah six times as Umar (r.a) led

prayers in Masjid al Nabawi.

Umar (r.a) died two days later, and is buried alongside Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)

MIRACLES OF ISLAM 1 : THE RED SEA

Part 1

A long, long time ago in Egypt there lived a king called Fir-aun. He was a very bad king. He

wanted everyone to worship him. He did not like anybody worshipping Allah.

Once, Fir-aun went to the astrologer (one who guesses the future) to ask about his future. The

astrologer said, „‟ I am sorry to say this, my king! There will come a time when a youthful

man will set out to destroy you and your army.‟‟

Fir-aun got very angry and he ordered all his soldiers to kill all boys and teenagers who are

man. No boy baby was left in his country. He had killed everyone.

Fir-aun had a beautiful wife called Asiyah (RALI). His wife loved children a lot. One day

while Asiyah (RALI) was bathing along the river, she spotted a basket. In the basket, there

was a beautiful young boy. Asiyah (RALI) wanted to keep the baby very badly as she really

adored the child. She asked Fir-aun. Fir-aun refused as it was a baby boy. However, he loved

his wife so much that he allowed her to keep the baby boy.

Part 2

The boy was named Musa (ALAI). He became a prophet in a very interesting way. Once he

was near a tree, and a voice boomed from the tree saying that Musa (ALAI) has been selected

as a prophet. Musa (ALAI) was so scared and he refused to believe it.

„‟Throw the stick in your hand,‟‟ the voice said. Musa (ALAI) threw it.

To his surprise, Musa (ALAI) saw the stick turning into a snake. That was when he believed

he was truly a prophet. He then went around spreading Islam to everyone in the village

through the little miracle.

Fir-aun got really very angry. He called up his army to kill Musa (ALAI) and his followers.

He called up a huge army. Musa (ALAI) got to know this matter and he got his followers to

quickly flee away from the country to escape death from his hands.

On their run, they came across a big sea. Everyone was dismayed as they knew that they

cannot cross the big sea as they had no ships or boats or ferries. All of them were stuck.

Musa (ALAI) asked Allah to help them out. At this point of time, Fir-aun and his army found

out that Musa (ALAI) and his followers were near the sea and they were approaching as fast

as thunder, riding on horses.

Part 3

Musa (ALAI) threw his stick into the sea. This is what he saw.

The sea had split into 2 parts. This sea is known as the Red Sea today. With the splitting of

the sea, Musa (ALAI) and his followers rushed to the between of the two seas and crossed the

seas in pathway that was created for them by Allahu SWT! WHAT A BIG MIRACLE!

Well, Fir-aun and his army reached the sea and they continued to run after the followers into

the pathway of the sea. However, the sea closed once Fir-aun and his army went inside. Fir-

aun and his army drowned in the sea.

MIRACLES OF ISLAM 2 : IBRAHIM (ALAI)

Part 1

A long, long time ago, there lived a king called Namruth. He got everyone to worship the

idols. Most people worked as an idol-maker/ statue-maker at that time. Amongst all those

people, there was a little boy named Ibrahim (alai).

He did not believe in those idols like the rest of the villagers. He started to question. He asked

his father, who believed in idols to be Gods, „‟the idols do not talk, eat, sit down. Then, why

do you worship them?‟‟ The father got very angry.

Part 2

Ibrahim (ALAI) thought since the idols do not talk nor respond, they cannot be god. One day

when everyone went for a festival, Ibrahim (alai) smashed all the idols that were statues.

The villagers returned from the festival and got really very angry. Namruth, the village king,

acted as a villain and implemented a punishment on him. The punishment was to put Ibrahim

(alai) in a circle surrounded by fire and burn him to ashes. The fire was all set up at the

request.

Ibrahim (alai) was thrown into the fire. Surprisingly, Allahu SWT made the fire cool for him.

Ibrahim (alai) CAME OUT OF THE FIRE WITH NO BURNS AT ALL!! Everyone was

very surprised. What a miracle!

Part 3

Ibrahim (alai) went on to spread Islam. He married a woman called Hajira. For many years,

there was no child. Finally, Allahu SWT gave them a child. The child was known as Ismail

(alai).

Ibrahim (alai) had a dream one night. It was shown in the dream that he had to sacrifice his

only son, Ismail (alai). It was an order from Allahu SWT. Ibrahim (alai) had to kill Ismail

(alai).

Ibrahim (alai) was very sad. He had no choice.

Ibrahim (ALAI) was sad but he would do anything for he loves ALLAHU SWT,

believes in him and knows that Allahu SWT would only mean the right things to do.

Allahu SWT is the one who had asked him to sacrifice his one and only son. He brought his

wife and son to Makkah, the place where Kaabah is.

He left his wife and son in the desert to go to Kaabah. At that point of time, his son, Ismail

(alai) was very thirsty. Hajira ran between Safa and Marwa (the name of 2 hills) in search of

water but there was no water in sight.

At one time, Ismail (alai) kicked the sand and there splashed water. That water is known as

„zam zam‟ which means „stop stop‟. Until today, there is zam zam water in Makkah. This is

another miracle!

Part 4

On Dhul-Hajja 10, Ibrahim (alai) went on to sacrifice his son. He held back the tears in his

eyes. It was his only son after many years of no children at home. He went to slaughter his

son in the name of Allahu SWT, but the axe just did not cut. This is another miracle!

At that time, Allahu SWT mentioned that it was just a test from him. He told Ibrahim (alai) to

slaughter a goat inside. That is why we slaughter goats (korban) to commemorate this day

every Hajj.

TOPIC: GUEST BEHAVIOUR

Our great Prophet (saw) teaches us to be generous and how to entertain guests. He wants a Muslim to show gratitude and be kind and happy when receiving guests.

One should respect and welcome his guests, in particular when they are strangers, or

have no family or friends in that country.

It may even happen that a guest comes while relatives or friends are being entertained,

or other travelers are staying and there is lack of space; or you are unprepared and

have few provisions or are even short of money.

In any eventuality, Muslim guests who come to your home should be made welcome by telling Assalamualikum in a low voice instead of shouting, shown respect and be

provided with whatever food and drink are available. One should sit with them in

order to make them feel comfortable and happy, and take care to pay great attention to

them.

Surely, our glorious Prophet (saw) guides us towards respecting guests and being generous towards them.

In this respect, Prophet (saw) says: "Indeed whoever believes that Allah is All-Generous, Who provides for His creation and rewards those who are welcoming

towards their guests, should look after his guest."

Abu Bakr happened to see this from a distance. He at once ran to the help of the Prophet. He

pushed Abu Jahl aside and took off the cloth from around the holy Prophet's neck. Thereupon

Abu Jahl and other enemies of Islam came down upon Abu Bakr. They beat him very much.

Indeed, the beating was so severe that Abu Bakr fell down senseless. He was carried home.

He could not regain his senses till after several hours. And when he did come to himself, the

TOPIC: ZAKAH

o We spend our whole lives working hard and

earning money. Sometimes we are so busy in accumulating this wealth that we forget

about the poor people who are also entitled to some of the money Allah has blessed us

with.

o Zakah is a way in which Allah reminds us about

our duties to other poorer Muslims. Allah has commanded us (i.e. made it Fardh) to

give Zakah every year.

o Zakah cannot be used to do important work such

as digging s nor can it be used to make roads or hospitals. Zakah must become the

property of the poor person.

o Zakah is a form of purification as it removes the

part of the wealth which now belongs to the poor.

o This also increases the blessing in the remaining

wealth. Zakah also purifies our hearts by removing selfishness and greed from it.

It is also called Kaabah.

It is placed at the centre of the Earth.

It is a special building for the Muslims all around the world.

Many years ago, Allah (s.w.t) ordered Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) and his son Ismail (a.s.) to built

kaabah. So every day, Prophet Ismail (a.s) will bring many stones and together with his

father, they built the kaabah.

But after kaabah reached a certain height, Prophet Ibrahim(a.s) was not able to reach the top

of it to continue buiding. So his son got him a very big rock to step on. Prophet Ibrahim (a.s),

following Allah‟s orders continued to build Kaabah, till his footprints were imprinted on the

rock. This rock can be seen during Haj. Pilgrims are required to pray 2 rakyats facing this

rock as a remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s).

3) Who maintains Kaabahthu’lah?

Kaabahthu‟lah has been maintained by many people over the long period of time. After

Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.), the responsibility of maintaining the Kaabahthu‟lah, was passed to his

son Prophet Ismail (a.s.). After that it went to the generation of Abdul Manaf. After some

change of hands, the maintaining of Kaabah, ensuring that all the pilgrims have enough food

and water, went to the family of Abdul Muthalib. It was followed by Abdullah and lastly to

Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w).

We are now going to look at the history of 3 special prophets. Read it carefully and answer

the following questions;

Prophet Adam (alai)

Prophet Ayyub (alai)

Prophet Yunus (alai)

Prophet Adam (alai)

Prophet Adam was the first man created by Allah. He was created to live on earth. However,

Iblis did not like this. Although Iblis was made of fire, he lived with the angels. He thought

he was better than Adam, so he became Adam‟s enemy and decided to make Prophet Adam

disobey Allah.

Prophet Adam and his wife, Hawa, used to live in paradise, where they were put by Allah.

Paradise was the most beautiful place you can imagine. It was neither hot nor cold. Prophet

Adam and his wife were never hungry or thirsty. This was another thing which Iblis did not

like. So Iblis came to Prophet Adam and his wife and told them to eat from a certain tree.

Now, Prophet Adam and his wife knew very well that Allah had told them they must not even

go near that tree. So they did not listen to Iblis, but Iblis kept on and on at them. He tempted

them by saying that they could live forever if they ate from that tree and would become like

angels.

At last, by the naggings

persuasion

Page 53: PRIMARY TWO NAME: CLASS:madrasahresources.weebly.com/uploads/1/8/1/5/... · 7. Fasting 8. Bang/Azan 9. Jamaat Prayers 10. Kaalifah 11. Miracles Of Islam 12. Guest Behaviours 13. Abu

of Iblis, Prophet Adam and his wife gave in. They came to believe what Iblis was telling

them. And they ate from the tree against Allah‟s command. But they soon came to regret very

much their disobedience and their weakness in listening to Iblis. Prophet Adam and his wife

were very sad and asked Allah for His forgiveness. Allah forgave them, for He is very

forgiving. Allah then told Adam and his wife that they must go down to earth and live for

some time. But He promised that they would be allowed to return to paradise as long as they

and their children were obedient to Him in future. Allah made Prophet Adam as his first

prophet and many other prophets, and Muhammad (saw) is the last prophet.

Prophet Ayyub (alai)

Prophet Ayyub lived a very long time ago. He was a very wealthy man with a large family.

Then suddenly, he lost all his wealth, his family members died and eventually he became

very ill.

In his misery, he prayed to Allah. He trusted Allah very much. And Allah did help Prophet

Ayyub as well. While he was sick and lonely, Allah told him to kick the ground hard with

his foot. Fresh water gushed out from the ground. With it, Prophet Ayyub was able to refresh

and wash himself and he also drank from it. That was how he regained his strength.

Because Prophet Ayyub believed in Allah and remembered Him, Allah rewarded him very

generously. Allah gave Prophet Ayyub a family again, which was twice as large as the first.

Allah also gave him a double amount of prosperity in money and servants. In the end,

Prophet Ayyub lived a long life with his children and grandchildren. In this way, Allah

helped Prophet Ayyub because even in his misfortune he never failed to trust in Allah. So all

muslims should draw a lesson from it that they should only pray to Allah when they are

happy and sad!

Prophet Yunus (alai)

Prophet Yunus was sent by Allah to a big town where the people had forgotten Allah‟s orders

and did many things which Allah did not allow. But Prophet Yunus soon discovered that the

people did not want to listen to him. He lost patience with them and left the town on anger.

Afterwards, Prophet Yunus decided to go across the sea, and boarded a ship. But when the

ship was in the middle of the ocean, Yunus suffered a great misfortune. He was thrown

overbroad and swallowed up by an big fish!

It was very dark inside the fish‟s stomach and Prophet Yunus grew very fearful. In his

loneliness, he started to think over what had happened in the town and came to realize that he

should not have acted so angrily. Instead, he should have stayed and kept on speaking to the

people and asked them to return to Allah.

Page 54: PRIMARY TWO NAME: CLASS:madrasahresources.weebly.com/uploads/1/8/1/5/... · 7. Fasting 8. Bang/Azan 9. Jamaat Prayers 10. Kaalifah 11. Miracles Of Islam 12. Guest Behaviours 13. Abu

-© Pre Primary Level

In the fish‟s stomach, Prophet Yunus started to pray with all his heart to Allah. He said: “O

Allah, there is no God apart from You. You alone do I praise and honour. I have done wrong,

if you do not help me, i lost for ever.”

Allah hears the prayers of those who pray to Him and those who believe in Him. Allah heard

Prophet Yunus‟s prayer, and He caused Prophet Yunus to come out of the fish‟s stomach.

Prophet Yunus was swept by the waves of the sea onto the shore. Poor Prophet Yunus was in

a terrible state and lay on the shore looking weak, ill and helpless. But Allah caused a tree to

grow and this tree provided Prophet Yunus with shade and refreshing and colourful fruits.

Prophet Yunus had recovered his health and strength. When Prophet Yunus was better, Allah

send him back to the town. This time, the people listened to Prophet Yunus when he told

them: You should believe in Allah and worship Him alone. You must do good.

TOPIC: HAJJ

Hajj

All Muslims have a duty to try to make a pilgrimage to the Ka'aba in Makkah at least

once during their lifetime.

The men who make the pilgrimage wear an ihram which is made up of two sheets.

They must not be sewn.

Also they wear special open shoes. This clothing is a symbol of peace and obedience

to God. The pilgrimage follows a set pattern.

There is a day of preparation. The person bathes, dresses in the ihram and tells

everyone that he intends to perform Hajj.

The people who perform hajj are known as Hajjis.

The Hajjis travel from all over the world to do Hajj.

Hajj is a fardh and should be performed as soon as the chance arises.

Fardhu only for those who can afford it!

He walks round the Ka'aba seven times and usually kisses the black stone.

The Ka'aba is a cube covered in a black cloth (kiswa) and it has a special black stone

in the corner where Abraham stood.

People pray to Allah and ask for forgiveness.

Many people change their lives completely after Hajj.

Hajj

Consists of minimum seven days

On Day 1, the pilgrims move to Mina.

Day 2 sees the journey from Mina to Arafat by noon. It symbolises the Day of

Judgement when Muslims have to answer for their deeds. This is the most important

part of a pilgrimage.

Day three is the Day of Sacrifice. Pilgrims collect a bag of tiny pebbles which they

carry back to Mina.

They throw seven stone on Jamara 'Agba in memory of the time that Abraham

dismissed Satan in this way. When that is complete a sacrifice of a goat or a sheep is

made, again that is in memory of when Abraham was going to sacrifice his son as

God had ordered.

Once that is complete the pilgrim cuts off a lock of his hair.

They walk once again round the Ka'aba on the way back to Makkah and then dress in

their normal clothes.

Days four, five and six are for relaxation.

The effect of the pilgrimage is to bring together the community and strengthen

He was very brave.

Sayyidina Umar (Rady Allahu Anhu) received the title “Farooq” which means the

one who distinguishes truth from falsehood.

He took part in all the battles with the Prophet including the battle of Badr.

In the beginning he was not a muslim, after hearing his sister‟s quran recitation he

was convinced it was a revelation from Allah.

Then he went to Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and became a

Muslim.

5) Why Uthman (R.A)?

He was the third Khalifa after Hadrat Umar (R.A).

He was given the title “Ghani” meaning rich. He was given that title because

he gave a lot of his wealth for Islam.
