Elder Class Team Mrs Hudson Mrs Russell A Very Victorian Adventure What will we be learning? Maths In maths, the children shall be multiplying and dividing by 3, 4 and 8 and answering multiplication word problems. Literacy Our Victorian adventure shall inspire our writing this half term. The children will write diary of their typical day. They will then write a setting description of a coal mine. Throughout the rest of the half term the children shall cover many different genres including non- chronological reports, an argument and an autobiography. History In history, the children will learn all about the Victorians. They shall learn about coal mines and the jobs children did down them. They shall also look at Victorian schools and be able to compare them to a modern day school. The children will also look at the differences between the rich and poor and the Autumn 2 Elder Class Welcome back after your half term break. PE Days Tuesday and Friday Please make sure that children have an indoor and outdoor PE kit as well as trainers and that ALL clothes are clearly labelled to avoid items being misplaced. Christmas fair 13 th December Homework Spellings – spellings will be sent home on Fridays for children to practise ready for a test the following Thursday. Numeracy, Literacy, Adventure – homework will be sent home on Fridays, to be handed in on Thursdays please. Reading – your child will have a home reader which will be sent home each Friday and is to be returned each Thursday. ART The children shall sketch Victorian mills and design their very own Victorian Christmas card. DT The children shall learn how to weave. They will make a popular Victorian toy – a Jack in a Box! They shall also make Christmas tree decorations and a Victorian Sponge!

What will we be learning?MathsIn maths, the children shall be multiplying and dividing by 3, 4 and 8 and answering multiplication word problems.

LiteracyOur Victorian adventure shall inspire our writing this half term. The children will write diary of their typical day. They will then write a setting description of a coal mine. Throughout the rest of the half term the children shall cover many different genres including non-chronological reports, an argument and an autobiography. HistoryIn history, the children will learn all about the Victorians. They shall learn about coal mines and the jobs children did down them. They shall also look at Victorian schools and be able to compare them to a modern day school. The children will also look at the differences between the rich and poor and the different toys these children would play with.GeographyIn geography, the children shall locate coal mines on a map and also popular Victorian holiday destinations. They shall use atlases and laptops to do this.

Welcome back after your half term break. The children are already looking keen and ready to learn!

PE DaysTuesday and Friday

Please make sure that children have an indoor and outdoor PE kit as well as trainers and that ALL clothes are clearly labelled to avoid items being misplaced.
