Physical – Yoga (Wellbeing)Can you make a bridge with your body? You can do this alone or with a partner. Another family member can push objects under your bridge e.g. a train track and trains, a toy car, a ball, a wind-up toy etc.See the attached sheet for examples of bridge postures you can try.

Creative – Bridge buildingThis is a construction challenge. You can use junk modelling, paper cups, rolls of newspaper, sticks, pegs, Lego bricks etc to build a bridge. Does the bridge stay standing? Can you put objects under the bridge? (e.g. roll a ball under or push a car under). Can you balance objects on top of the bridge? (e.g. stand a small figure on top without it collapsing or falling over). This challenge allows for problem solving. Encourage your child to talk about their ideas and whether they work. If they don’t work, encourage them to think about what went wrong or what the problem might be and work together to solve it.

Story timeCan you share a story each day? Read story books together and talk about the pictures. Talk about what is happening throughout the story and what might happen next.

Measure your child against a wall or door to show them how tall they are. You could measure other family members in the same way so your child can see the difference in height. Using chalk outside or pens and large pieces of paper draw around your child and then measure the outline using a variety of objects e.g. how many books/teddies/tins etc do we need? Play a treasure hunt game when you each have one minute to find something big. Compare your chosen objects, whose is the biggest? Repeat for finding something small. Compare them, whose is the smallest? Give your child three objects and see if they can place them in size order – small, medium/middle sized, big.
