Phonics

Have another go at phonics pop or give it a try if you haven’t had a go yet. https://www.ictgames.com/phonicsPop/index.html

For phonics today we are going to learn to read really long words! (words with more than 1 syllable) Look at the pictures below. Can you see what they are? Tell a grown up what you think.

(Answers sandwich, windmill, handstand, sandpit, lunchbox, shampoo)

Can you find which word matches which picture? Parents please can you write out the words on small pieces of paper by folding the piece of paper in half and writing the words on either side of the fold, so, for example, ‘lunch’ on one side and ‘box’ on the other.

Fold them in half.

Choose a piece of paper.

Read the first side, so for example, sand. Then turn it over to see the second part of the word, pit.

Open up the paper and read the whole word, ‘sandpit’ (I hope this makes sense!)

Literacy

I hope that you have listened to ‘The Snail and the Whale’ or watched the video this week. I have uploaded a sheet for you to complete to draw a picture and tell me about your favourite part of the story. If you prefer you can just write straight into your red book!

Maths

Please watch Numberblocks ‘Odds and Evens.’ Here is the link,

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08r2l4d/numberblocks-series-2-odds-and-evens

Just have a chat about odds and evens today. We will be doing some activities tomorrow.

Art- Spiral patterns

Have a go at making your own spirals using natural materials. You could make them maybe when you go for a walk or when you are in the garden. (You could use leaves, twigs, small stones, shells or pebbles if you go to the beach. In school we are going to make some inside too. We are going to use lego or pennies, beads, pasta or buttons. Have a look at the pictures below to give you some ideas.
