2016-17 CALGARY HITMEN ROSTER

Missed entire season due to injury

RAIDER REVIEW: The Prince Albert Raiders (6-21-1-0) return to the Art Hauser Centre to take on the Calgary

Hitmen (8-14-2-0) tonight. The Raiders are coming off of a 12-2 defeat on Saturday night in Regina against the

Pats. Sergei Zborovskiy, Rykr Cole, Austin Wagner and Adam Brooks each scored a pair of goals for the Pats.

Austin Glover notched a goal and an assist for the Raiders, while Simon Stransky also found the back of the

net. Nicholas Sanders and Ian Scott both saw action in the game, combining for 35 saves on 47 attempts.

VS. CALGARY: This is the second meeting of the year between the Raiders and the Hitmen, and the first at the

Art Hauser Centre. In their game on Oct. 23, Ian Scott made 32 saves to backstop the Raiders to a 3-2 victory

over the Hitmen at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Adam Kadlec, Simon Stransky and Luke Coleman all scored in

the game for the Raiders.

Power play: Prince Albert – 0/5; Calgary – 0/4

BACK ON TRACK: After two long pointless streaks, the Raiders’ top-two scorers found the offensive side of the

scoresheet again on the weekend. Simon Stransky finished the two games with three goals after being held

goalless for seven games. Austin Glover picked up two goals and two assists on the weekend to snap an eight-

game pointless skid. Stransky leads the team with 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists), while Glover is second with

17 (eight goals, nine assists).

STAYING DISCIPLINED: The Raiders and the Hitmen are two of the best teams when it comes to staying out of

the penalty box. The Hitmen and the Raiders have the fourth and fifth-fewest penalty minutes in the league

this season, respectively. Calgary has 330 PIMs in 24 games, while the Radiers have 351 in 28.

NEXT UP: The Raiders are back at it at home on Friday night when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors on

Teddy bear Toss Night. Fans are asked to wrap their teddy bears in a plastic bag before throwing them on the

ice. Puck drop is 7p.m. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com, at the Raider Office or by calling 306-764-

5348.

Calgary erased a 5-3 deficit to pull even, only to see the Warriors score twice in the final 2:20 to escape with the victory. Jake Bean and Carsen Twarynski recorded a goal and an assist for the Hitmen who also received markers from Vladislav Yeryomenko, Lucas Cullen and Matteo Gennaro. They will play five games in six days culminating with Sunday’s home ice contest against the Kamloops Blazers. BACK WHERE IT ALL BEGAN: Hitmen forward Matteo Gennaro returns to Prince Albert tonight as a member of the opposition for the first time since a January 10, 2016 trade. That deal saw Calgary acquire the Winnipeg Jets prospect from the Raiders along with defenceman Ty Prefontaine and a sixth-round selection in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft in exchange for right winger Layne Bensmiller and defenceman Loch Morrison. In a separate transaction that same day, over-age forward Taylor Sanheim was placed on 20-year-old waivers. On Nov. 16, the Hitmen reassigned goaltender Nik Amundrud to the BCHL’s West Kelowna Warriors. The 19-year-old began the season on injured reserve after suffering a lower-body injury during the pre-season. The Hitmen 25-player roster now includes 14 forwards, nine defencemen and two goalies.
