Prince Bogusław Radziwiłł (1620-1669) ndash one of the best known personalities

connected to the Deluge a Lithuanian noble and prince of the Holy Roman Em-

pire He gained his first military experiences while fighting in the Dutch army aga-

inst Spain in early 1640rsquos He took part in fights against the Cossacks and comman-

ded the foreign pattern units at the battle of Beresteczko in 1651 Awarded by king

John II Casimir with the rank of the general of the royal guard in 1655 he supported

Lithuanian forces besieging Mogilev During the Deluge he tried to create an inde-

pendent state at Podlasie by accepting Swedish control He led his own forces and

Swedish reinforcements among others in Tykocin area In 1656 he was captured

by Tartars at the battle of Prostki however he was rescued during the battle at

Filipoacutew Since 1657 he served elector Frederick William Hohenzollern as the gene-ral governor of Ducal Prussia He led the Brandenburg-Prussian forces against the

Swedes since 1658

(the old hetman Radziwiłłrsquos banner and prince Bogusławrsquos own) ndash in order to emphasize their elite status they are deployed

in the game as elite pancerni For tournament or campaign games the player using the princersquos division must declare whether

it is a Polish or Lithuanian division
