APPOINTMENT OF THE PRINCIPAL

The Board of Moama Anglican Grammar invites applications from suitably qualified and highly experienced educa-

tors for the position of Principal.

Moama Anglican Grammar is an independent co-educational school offering quality education from Kindergarten to

Year 12 on a single campus. The School cares for its students and their families and prepares the students for the

next phase of their lives so they can move forward with hope and confidence. The School’s focus is on each student

as an individual. The provision of quality teaching, a strong academic program, diverse co-curricular opportunities

and robust pastoral care underpin a balanced education.

The School is affiliated with the NSW Association of Independent Schools (NSW AIS) and the Principal enjoys the

collegiality of fellow members of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA). Our current

enrolment of just over 700 students is supported by more than 90 teaching, administrative and support staff.

The School has achieved significant capital development in a relatively short period of time. This development has

been facilitated by the receipt of several government grants. Another transformational addition to our facilities is the

current construction of our landmark ‘learning, innovation and resource Centre’, expected to be completed in time for

the 2017 school year.

The Board is seeking a dynamic, strong and decisive Principal to continue the School’s development and provide

inspirational leadership within the School community. The Principal reports directly to the School Board.

The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package with the expectation of commencement

no later than January 2017, with an initial five year contract.

Therefore, I invite applications from highly skilled and qualified candidates committed to leading our School through

its next exciting phase.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Craig Smith

Chair

THE ECHUCA - MOAMA REGION

Information sourced from: www.echucamoama.com

The School is located in the Echuca/Moama Region which offers appealing lifestyle, employment and education op-

portunities in a vibrant and successful community.

Located on the banks of the mighty Murray River, the twin towns are the closest point of the Murray to Melbourne –

just a two and a half hour drive. Boasting more sunny days than Queensland’s Gold Coast and an average annual

temperature of 22 degrees, Echuca/Moama is a great destination to live and work. To find out more about our area

OUR HISTORY From very humble beginnings, with sound financial management and

hard work by dedicated teachers and parents, the School has devel-

oped into a thriving educational community. Commencing in 2005 with

only 16 students, the School has grown rapidly to over 700 students,

with facilities keeping pace with the increasing student numbers.

In 2010 the Board made a significant strategic decision to open addi-

tional Year Levels from Kindergarten to Year 4. This expansion consol-

idated the School within the region as a unique single campus school

offering continuous education from Kindergarten to Year 12.

In addition to the building program the academic and co-curricular pro-

grams have also been strengthened and expanded. In particular the

School has a focus on continuously improving the quality of teaching

and learning and is currently in the first of a three-year program funded

by the AISNSW to support the Schools Leading Learning initiative.

STRATEGIC ACTIONS

Teaching and Learning

To provide an inspirational, quality and well-rounded education for

students in three key areas: curricular, co-curricular and pastoral.

Enhance the quality of learning by catering for different learning

styles and dispositions.

Learning will be placed at the heart of our programs and the core

business of the School. Students will be equipped with the requisite

skills, knowledge and resilience to thrive, both during and after their

time at the School.

Student learning will have a particular school-wide focus on the devel-

opment of basic literacy and numeracy skills through the use of ex-

plicit, direct instructional learning in combination with appropriate stu-

dent centred learning.

Student outcomes in all Year Levels will be closely monitored and

analysed against external benchmarks.

The quality of the teaching and learning relationships is a key

determinant of student achievement. Innovative and dynamic teach-

ing methods will be encouraged and supported, as will collaborative

practices.

Promote health and wellbeing strategies to focus on each

student’s positive understanding of self and others.

Students are provided with extensive co-curricular opportunities to

cultivate particular interests and skills.

Foster leadership practices that will assist in creating and

maintaining an inclusive outlook which develops an appreciation of

the world and respects diversity.

Staffing

To attract, retain and develop high quality staff, recognising that the

quality of a School cannot exceed the quality of its staff.

Continue to deliver appropriate, adequately resourced professional

development opportunities, as this plays a central role in enabling

staff to grow and improve.

Business Management

To ensure that quality processes and professional business planning

practices are embedded in all areas to assist and promote financial

viability, environmental management and a competitive advantage.

and students.

FACILITIES

The campus of Moama Anglican Grammar is continually expanding and evolving. Our facilities are modern and functional

and coupled with our expansive ‘green’ areas, provide an exciting learning environment for our students. The campus is

designed in precincts that allow for separate learning areas for students of different age groups, plus common areas that

provide the opportunity to partake in cross age activities.

The School recently purchased another six hectares of land adjoining the current campus. This major increase in available

space provides significant potential for the development of specialist learning facilities in the longer term.

In 2016 we will construct our exciting new Learning and Innovation Centre: a vibrant new library, learning and technology

hub. This project also encompasses an extension to the administration building.

The School is ideally located adjacent to the Moama Recreation Reserve which provides outstanding sporting facilities,

including athletics, soccer, cricket and football fields and possibly unique to any other School, a velodrome. Since the pho-

to below was taken the School has installed two synthetic multipurpose courts.

MOAMA ANGLICAN GRAMMAR STEPS INTO THE FUTURE

2017 will see a significant improvement in the teaching and learning environment at our School with the opening of

our Learning and Innovation Centre.

The Centre will be a blended learning environment where students can switch between individual and group spaces

with immediate access to the latest technology and information. The Centre will assist in preparing our students to

move from the world of school to the world of adulthood.

The Centre will provide students with access to information and technology out of regular school hours, with tutors

on hand to help with homework and study. The Centre will not only provide students with access to an array of in-

formation and technology, this learning environment will have a world class assistant. NAO is a humanoid robot that

will enhance student learning by providing them the opportunity to interact with one of the latest education re-

sources.

.PASTORAL CARE

Pastoral care is based on a deep respect for the dignity and

uniqueness of the individual person as we are all made in the

image of God (Genesis 1:27).

The teachers and staff at Moama Anglican Grammar are here to

serve our students. Together they have the many skills needed

to nurture, encourage and challenge students so they become

people of honour and excellence.

At Moama Anglican Grammar we are keenly aware, that in part-

nership with our families, we wish to provide a place where stu-

dents, teachers and families work and learn together in a safe,

secure and happy environment. We aspire to develop citizens

of the future of whom we will be proud.

In order to achieve this, we have set goals in keeping with our

Anglican tradition to:

Provide an environment that is safe, nurturing and caring in

which our students can learn and grow.

Promote policies and practices that shape a respectful, wel-

coming and caring environment for all members of our com-

munity.

Promote positive, connected and respectful relationships

across the School community.

Engage a comprehensive whole-school approach to Pastoral

Care and Wellbeing.

We implement a whole school restorative approach to student

behaviour management policies and practices. The underlying

principles aim to:

Focus on the relationship and how people are affected by cer-

tain behaviours.

Restore damaged relationships.

Talk about the behaviour without blame or being personal.

See mistakes and misbehaviour as an opportunity for learning.

Be future focussed and talk about how to make things right.

Our Pastoral Care is guided by our School’s Core Values.
